This founders stuff is an obvious money grab.

I am interested at this though: Then the people that spent $120.00 will
start screaming how they didn't get there monies worth and will cry and demand they deserve something more then what they got when they knew what they where buying in the first place.
I'm not sure what people didn't understand about the packs? It was laid out in pretty plain english, everything was explained, even the rough value of the in-game currency was defined. Why didn't I know about before purchase?

There are always people who think they are entitled to more (especially some of today's generations)... and that holds true for many with and without the founder pack.

The Legendary Founders package was about as much of a money grab as a variety pack of candy bars that can be eaten forever. Mind you, they were initially offering single serving endless candy bars, but the community complained about the difficulty of choosing one flavor.

Think its hella hard trying to make a game that really appeals without having a business model that is aimed towards making a profit.
Ideally they can create the game in a way that the gap between paying and non paying accounts doesn't become so big its throwing people off, in the end someone has to pay for all the free play.
Buying a game costs me the same as being a veteran, seems only fair to invest a little to reward progress shown, nothing comes truly for free.

Except if you read through this thread the vast majority of people that bought the packages did so because they; like the MechWarrior franchise, viewed it as contributing to a kick starter, have been waiting for a MechWarrior game for a decade, wanted to help fund development of the game, or were actually asking for the company to take their money. None of the reasons would lead you to think people will scream that they didn't get their monies worth. In general people gave money because "I viewed it as a way to help fund a mech game in a series I love and there hasn't been a real one in over a decade so I wanted to pitch in and contribute".

They /WANT/ you to pay 120 dollars for "exclusive content"?
No, they don't /want/ you to pay anything, it's free to play, says so in the title, the "exclusive" items are more of a way of saying thank you for supporting us and all our hard work.
game under strict "NDA"
Yeah it is under NDA with no new footage being presented. You'd like to have people releasing videos and screens of a potentially bugged out and broken game build perhaps? I'm sure that'd be a smart thing to do.
The Company is unremarkable?
Well given how involved they've been with their community, as well as (so it's been said) them being passionate battletech and mechwarrior fans themselves, i'm willing to give them a chance.
"Pay to win"
It's already been stated multiple times that it's not going to be pay to win, if you took the time out to actually do this thing called "reading" like us folk from the ancient times, you might know this.
Course i'll grant you this. It is only their word and until proven otherwise it's just that, but still, common sense says do your homework.
"Pay us 120 dollars now or lose out" and "Milking die hard fans"
Well if you've checked out any other game in the past decade, they've all done about the same, it's called "collectors edition" runs, where you, and hold on to something because this may come as a shock to you that others do this, give money in advance to obtain special edition content that will pretty much only exist during the limited run of the pre-order on the basis that this game will live up to what you're expecting. Once they're gone, in most cases, there will be no more.
And well i guess you'll find out when the game is released whether or not you'd made the correct decision.
Given that it's been about 10 years since the last mechwarrior game, and prices have gone up for video games considerably since then. I'd say it's at least a /decent/ price and something fans are particularly excited about and would like to see succeed. Like I stated before, just like your miniature purchases, this is optional, no one's pointing a gun to your head and saying buy it.

When I looked into the "mechwarrior 5" team, I found a company that had an extremely mediocre metacritic average, handling mostly generic ports, and mechwarrior 5 actually looked awful. Console aimed, UAVs, distorted looking classic mechs etc.

They want me to pay 120 dollars for "exclusive" content for a game under strict NDA that is advertised as F2P from an unremarkable company with a mediocre track run. Not only this but once the game is in any way playable, this option will be removed.
This sounds entirely like a money grab, "pay us money based on hype and IP name". Now I understand it's smart to do this, but money grabs like this lead me to believe this will become the norm, "Pay to win, pay for advantages etc". I'm gonna be skipping this game looks like and I just want to warn you all to take off your rose tinted glasses and look at the precedent set by this founders package. This is a "player vs player" game too. Now It's your money, and you can do with it what you want, but I think I just expect more from a developer I want to trust in the least. Loading up a "pay us 120 dollars now or lose out" seems to be milking the die hard fans, instead of making them happy.
Anyway I understand none of you will likely agree in any way with this, but I want some proof the game is in any way a good complete experience before they give a time limited "Jump in now or miss out" offer.
It seems like exploiting the longtime diehard fans enthuisasm rather than delivering anything worthwhile to them. This definitely is a huge negative for me. I never remember paying more than 50 dollars for any other mech game, heck the boardgame box sets costed less, the most I spent was on minis which was optional. What do you all see that I dont?
If you don't want to pay then don't. Let others support the upcoming game, and you can ride free off others overspending. Then of course, when you take out someone's elite mech, that they spent hundreds of dollars on, with your jenner you didn't pay a cent for, you feel a reward greater that the instant gratification of spending real money on something that doen'st really exist. It's pretty simple; free stompy robots

TL;DR.
Judging by the topic thread it is just more QQ'ing. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
I would post a proper and gentlemanly reply, but I have to get back to sitting atop my veritable tower of my Jenner perched atop the shoulders of my Hunchback, who is riding my Catapult like a stick horse while the Catapult in turn is being carried on the shoulders of my Atlas, and sipping my fine brandy whilst looking down upon creation.

Some of you say that in order for devs to make money to create, market and release a game they need money. Of course they do. Some of you say that the devs are taking money (pre-order) to finish the game for release. Of course they are. It is after all a business and as a business they will look at what will make them money, in this case, your fandom.
The point is, and it's not being said outloud is, that all of you pre-order folks are buying the packs not for the "support" of the title. but to get an edge over other players.
Whine, cry and stomp that you are only paying for the pre-order to support the title but.... as a vet of many F2P/Pay for perks games I know you are full of it. You are buying faster in game money making, exp gathering and dressed up cartoon robots. THATS IT all in order to scamper to the highest tiers of this game faster than others so you can proudly announce your uberstature. Pathetic.
Would you be willing to pop off that $120 just to support the title with no benefit? I think not and those of you that are going to say you would are not really being truthful with yourselves or this community.
The devs are relying on your "fandom" to get the money they need to finally finish this game and take more of your money over time because you "fanboys and girls" will not be able to play without the perks that you will have to continue to pay for. Wanna make a dev smile give him/her money for an unfinished product and then continue to pay long after the game is out. Hmmmm ponzi?
So premium players gather your nuts quickly as the ADD/redbull fueled lil gigglers are waiting to call you newb even though you can spout clan lore until all around you puke, and they will not have spent a cent on the game.

One other thing was the Demo trailer I seen it didn't show to high tech graphic's in my viewing of it. Hell I seen better with the older Mech games.. I sure hope they can pull it off and make a great MECH game, but what I seen so far need's alot of work.
