In a lobby there is a chat already there.
However friends list is just basically a PM.
Still be nice to see an actual general chat while in the frontend (mechlab)
In a drop lobby? after you launch a game? i couldnt find any other lobby outside of that.
am i missing something?

Get over it Nomad. I have been a mostly solo player, but LOVE the fact that there is no in game VoIP. It prevents those rejects from CoD from getting on and ruining a game I am loving. It is not hard to go download ts3, vent, or any of the other programs to chat. You can also chat to those on your team in game when you join the team in game. As for coordination, if you can not do it outside of game, how have you been able to communicate at all so far? Email, skype, cell phone, text, god the list goes on when it comes to things that help with communication. Please, just stop.
PGI, keep the in game VoIP on the back burner for as long as you can. I dread the day when you finally get to adding one in game. It is one reason why I do not play CoD anymore, or many other FPS games. The people you hear on coms you do not have a personal means to moderate usually take advantage of that fact. 3rd party options are always the better choice, unless you play on a console.

if we had a proper UI we wouldn't have to worry about troll chat, remembering names to do some yeolde type, for every player grrr, in order to start forming teams. real lobbies where we could search for teams looking for a medium here or assault there so any number premades could be deployed etc.
the social ui we have now it ******* stone age and RHOD, smurfy and mwolobby, all player made stuff, is what holds this game together. it's been some of the longest standing problems with this game and pgi should be ashamed that they're only just getting a match setup function incoporated into the game.

Since this is a demo event, which will require additional dev and server monitoring to help identify and manage any problems with the system we have created, we aren't able to put this particular event outside of our normal operating hours. If the system proves stable enough in the future to run for a few hours without being supervised, we will happily run different times in later tournaments for different timezones.
Thats good do hear. Hopefull the demo will run smoothly, so in future we non US player can have also take part in the tournament.

I don't think there are enough teams to support an EU division, and especially not an Asian one.
Umm... the German community alone already held quite a few tournaments with 8+ teams and I know there are loads of Italian, Russian, English, French, etc... teams in addition to only the German ones in our tournaments. I wouldnt quite count on "not enough teams in the EU". Cant speak for Oceanic/Asian.. but I dont think that it should be too different there either.

Unlike every other event so far, this single one is for teams. I think its fair that team players get something once in a blue moon?
(Edit: And of course, solo players COULD use the forums to set up a one-shot team for this....)

I'm sure we'll collect together enough NA players to put up an Isengrim team.
@SAHIL 619
I believe that earlier in the thread someone posted a recruiting for Solo Players who want to make a temp group for this tourney.
Hell you might even make permanent friends.

But this is an incredible idea, definitely another step in the right direction!

Actually it is quite possible for EU players to participate since the timeframe (12:00-00:00 EDT is 18:00-06:00 CET unless my timezone-fu is completely off!) allows for it and there are enough teams able to play around EU evening hours. Heck the start time 18:00 is just before EU prime-time!

but on the subject of the "free" premium time for the team captains, if they don't want to use their banked time up, can they instead just grab premium time from the store? or will they be "forced" to activate the premium time they have banked?
and if they don't activate the time, can they instead, just get the extra time they would have gotten anyway added onto the banked time?
wouldn't it be easier to simply give MC instead of Premium time, and make the captains buy the time in the store?
also, the times aren't too bad here in OZ, we get a choice of early morning for our games (2AM-11AM) so there is something of a chance that we could play in the later slots... maybe

I look forward to the future when Australians get considered in these kind of events. Guess it because we live on an Island....

PGI gives everyone prizes for testing various game aspects -- that is what the "random" giveaways are. Why would they not do something similar with a test tournament?

I don't see why we cann't have EU division of this tournament.

Because everybody can join for the test server equally but only North America / South America residents can join this tournament. Can't care less about prizes myself, but when a guy from NA can get smth and a guy from EU can't, it just stinks.
