Because everybody can join for the test server equally but only North America / South America residents can join this tournament. Can't care less about prizes myself, but when a guy from NA can get smth and a guy from EU can't, it just stinks.
Well, it's their first team-based tournament, it's perfectly reasonable that PGI would want to monitor real-time how it goes, and that means that it has to be held in thier business hours.
I guess that next one, after they'll get hang of it, will be more EU/rest of the world friendly.

Meh. Whatever you say. If game will only cater to NA people then people from other regions just won't give devs a dime. In the end they hurt themselves more then they hurt anybody else.
And TBH excuses about 'demo tournament' and 'operating outside their usual time' are just lame. There are people who ran community tournaments for years now in this game, both in NA and EU timezones. Those same people could have been asked to help out and run this event for PGI outside their timezone, but nope ...
It just shows how much they care about 'community' and 'playerbase'.

As long as the next one is 'EU' only and the one after it is 'Asia-AUS' only, then sure.

For us it's like 1-3 am on working days

And it's nice for once to see a thread where the posts that get "like" votes tend to be the positive ones.
Sadly, BWC Eu won't be able to play this round. But we DO understand the need of beta testing.

Its impossible to play in this tournament as I have no 14 friends but only 2 friends....?
This a bad method......
How many events/contests have we had so far for solo drops? I think 5, and you can not let at least one single event for teams come out with out grabbing your ball and running home?

First bracket:
Day 1
Day 2
Second bracket:
Day 3
Day 4
Quarter Finals
Semi Finals
Finals
Should work for everyone I guess.

I don't see why we cann't have EU division of this tournament.

No one said you can not enter the tourney. Now if RL things prevent it, well, get over it. A good portion of us have RL issues, I probably can not make this tourney because I work graves, you do not see me whining to others. Get over your selfentitlement. Not everyone gets a gold star in real life.

I bet you'd say otherwise if it was 4-7am your time. By the way, I got a suggestion, lets run ALL future tournaments between 4am and 7am EST.

Problem is that tournament is extremely limited to the point of being designed to exclude as many players as possible.
Time constraints for the matches.
No heads up on the tournament, a rush for organizing teams.
Premium Time being -REQUIRED- for competitive play and no means of suspending Premium Time once activated.
Extremely vague rules for the tournament itself.
Seriously, scrap this tournament and get in contact with the teams currently in the game, get in touch with the current tournament groups and organizers. The player driven tournaments in the old days of Sync Drops were better designed than this, more accommodating for the players than this.
Also, needing this to be inside normal operating hours is -no excuse.- If you don't trust the system you currently have in place then put in overtime for the tournament. If you're expecting the players to put in the time for a tournament then you need to put in the time yourselves!
If you're not willing to put in the needed support features into the game for the foundation of a tournament then do not run a tournament. Something I've said before: Expecting players to expend what they have paid for just to play in a PGI tournament is unreasonable. If you aren't going to make the required features to run a tournament part of the free to play system then these features should be set to "Free" for the days of the tournament!
This current Beta Tournament currently outlines many many problems with PGI's Lobby design and policy which, surprise surprise, veteran players "on an Island" have been decrying and criticizing for a long time now. Now these designs are biting this tournament directly in the rear torso.
TL:DR? I am not impressed. PGI can do so much better, players have done so much better before. There is no excuse as the system and support already exists and PGI has gone out of it's way to exclude it.

Since this is a demo event, which will require additional dev and server monitoring to help identify and manage any problems with the system we have created, we aren't able to put this particular event outside of our normal operating hours. If the system proves stable enough in the future to run for a few hours without being supervised, we will happily run different times in later tournaments for different timezones.
sorry but this is such a lame excuse. You guys do patches at 10am PDT all the time. It's the most convenient time for EU. How about this?
