It's interessting (but honestly not very suprising) that capping is a non factor in most matches in a gamemode called conquest. The fact that killing all enemies always wins the match (and is most often the fastest way to do it) somewhat reduces the core of all gamemodes to TDM.

It's the size of the map in my opinion. On a map like Tourmaline, Terra Therma and Alpine or even HPG, CRIMSON, Canyon capping is fairly essential in conquest mode.

The mapchoice for conquest was poor. On frocen city the caps are too close to each other, so the one that wins the brawl, wins the match...

Conquest on Frozen City equaling a brawl is fine by me. Watching mechs run from cap point to cap point for twenty minutes is just a tad bit less boring then watching two teams wait in hiding for 20 minutes.

Kudos to Omega59er and the Dire Wolves, since yesterday I got a memory allocation error when launching and I got booted from the game.

We repeated the drop and we had our match. Thanks to our opponent.

I hope PGI is paying attention to the number of crashes and disconnects. I didn't expect there would be so many in such a small sample of games.

I like how the tournament went exactly like I said it would, with bonus points like BSK losing their A-team to steel jags, LORDS, and swords of kentares, further widening the gap.

That really should be added to the original post, IMO. Thanks for the consolidation, Pax.

Thanks Paxmortiss. Really appreciate it.

My big complaint with both the team tournament and revenge competition was how hard it is to find standings (and video).

I would suggest for tournament that link at top of front page go straight to brackets (like you see for march madness) with the matches being clickable links to vids? It just seemed really hard to find this stuff and non-intuitive to find rankings. (On the "opt in" page?).

Kind of disappointed this thread has derailed so far into the usual balance arguments. With very few references to matches except as small examples to prove main points, but usually just tangents).

There's a lot of really interesting data. Although kind of a shame it's single elimination. Did a team win purely because of build or skill or luck.

Be fun to see some kind of ladder system running permanently too. So glad they're trying things.
Maybe divided into time frame leagues.
The "Sunday 9-2" league or Saturday 9-2 league. The weekday 11-3 league (for crazy germans) and weeknight 7-11 league or something.

I really like the set map approach. But I see its drawbacks. Still. Kind of neat.

It certainly highlights the problem of dense conquest maps.

I'll hold off my opinions of FLD, pinpoint, convergence, heat, dps,and jj shake, recharge and effectiveness for other threads.

Great idea, and very easy for PGI to implement. It would seriously take about five minutes time to update the entire thing.

You can also see vids after matches are done on this channel.
I really want to see tomorrow's 4 matches, I consider RC / RCN Assault to be so limited in gameplay.

Lol, SJR totally did know it...

I would allways wait for the 5 mins till i get the enemy Mech compositon and initial positioning...

12th loses bcs they cant prevent themself form being hit...unable to fight back when they were down for their much to short range...

228th executed it to well to lose...

Scorpions lured their Opponent into a losing base rush...

No Base Rush was successfull, all but one outwitted game was a long boring Maginot War...

Hope the final rounds will be exciting to watch!

PS: I am quite optimistic that the next Maps and Modes will deliver better Screen Action!

Congrats to 228th IBR for their win. A tough nut to crack. And we couldn't crack it.

When it comes to me, I'll be one of their fans until the end of this tournament.

The nerf to Strikes can't come soon enough. I applaud House of Strikes for going all out to show why arty/air needs nerfed, and hard!

in all honesty in our last game on River City the strikes just fulfilled their intended purpose by striking down a fortified position.
