Yeah, we've kind of moved on Eglar? Do you want to contribute to the current discussion or make Ad Hominem arguements?

I'm sorry for not refreshing the website every 2 minutes. And no, I don't want to discuss mwo balance in the tournament announcement thread.

I will. In addition to scaling JJ lift, their weight should be scaled in a linear fashion between mech classes. 0.5 tons for lights, 1 ton for mediums, 1.5 tons for heavies, and 2 tons for all assaults. The 1 ton JJ for Victors is a travesty, and the 1 ton JJ for a 3D is also not helping.

Jump jets are handled the same currently as they are in TT. Mechs that weigh 20-55 tons cost 0.5 tons per jump MP (movement point), 60-85 tons cost 1 ton per jump MP and 90-100 tons cost 2 tons per jump MP. Mechs cannot have more jump MP than their walking MP.

Regardless of your method or the current method, you will have some mechs that just get better results from it. For instance, in your example, the Victor gets the nerf stick and has to pay just as much as the Highlander that is ten tons heavier, but the Cataphract at only ten tons lighter gets lighter jump jets. You have moved the line in the sand, but that line is still abuseable.

The best way would be to have jump jets scale directly with weight, regardless of class. Just make each jump jet give a set amount of thrust, regardless of weight, and cost 2% of the mechs weight. This would make a 20-ton mech pay 0.4 ton per jet, a 50-ton mech pay 1 ton per jet and a 100-ton mech pay 2 tons per mech, with no jumps in cost anywhere in the scale.

But you're right, we have diverged very far from TT *and* Lore.

MechWarrior titles have done this before.
My favorite was in MW1 where all Missiles when fired showed only one big, huge, "Das Uber Missile," heading towards the enemy. You swear you just launched an Apollo mission for NASA.

And the 12-JJ Spider which used to be able to jump onto the tops of tall structures will no longer be able to do so, thus depriving them of another ability in their already limited scouting role.

Do people here realize that by trying to control poptarts, they are potentially destroying other things?

Different Weight Classes if not Mechs have different settings for JJs, I know, I tried it on 3.

Considering how past games were dominated by large lasers, I would agree. But the weakening of lasers have made PPCs more powerful by quite a degree. Which is funny as I remember mechs getting their PPCs 'upgraded' to ER LLs.

My only concern is this;

Without major system changes what we have now ("the meta" if you will) will be the way it will always be. Maybe a new go to mech will replace the Catsphract 3D, but only because it does the exact same job better. In games like DOTA and LoL you can change a hero and create a whole new synergy with how teams are built. In MW:O you don't have that.

MW2 was dominated by Lasers and Pulse because they were Projectile in function, LRMs that require skill to use Indirectly, sometimes MGs. PPCs moved way too slow and had splash. I forget how ACs worked.

I'm not sure your meaning. Are you disputing the fact that they are weighted the same as in TT?

And thank you, I have a very nice life and plan to continue to have one for a very long time. Your support is much appreciated, though.

Don't know, I looked at the calender and tried to find which slots were occupied a short time ago.
Only pairing still not there.

Ok, now it looks like the final 2 teams scheduled for Saturday. Cool...should be fun to watch the series progress!

On another note, for the rest of you...way to totally derail this tournament thread with the same old Meta vs. TT argument...

Yep, 4 matches tomorrow, 4 on Saturday.
Given some times chosen, I will be waiting for the YouTube/Twitch uploads.

Since the game applies a flat 14.7kph forward movement speed every time you hit your JJs, mobility in general will not be impacted.

I was referring to height, not forward movement. How will your suggestion affect the jump height of existing non-poptart JJ-equipped mechs?

Note that any answer other than "They will not be affected." is an indication that JJs are probably not the problem.

The best way to modify jump jets (aside from the scaling issue I mentioned earlier) would be to make them generate heat just like a flamer: the longer you hold them, the hotter they burn. Want full lift? You better watch your heat. The current minimal blip on the heat meter is a joke, and most people don't even know it exists...

The 228th vs. DMB match was nice to watch. Good back and forth between the two teams.

I found it interesting that most teams concluded that Frozen City Night would be brawl and brought a full brawler deck. With 228 being the only exception so far, bringing a rather conventional dropdeck (CTF3D, SDH5M), they still managed to win against a hardcore Brawl Deck.

228 made a flawless rotation and managed to kite DMB dishing out alot of damage during that move. Their drop-commander definitely made the right calls here.

I wish you both luck for that. I wouldn't mind seeing a german final :o
But you DO have to win 1 more round before that, right?
