So I have been playing this game nearly a year now. Yesterday someone showed me footage from Closed Beta adn I was stunned. The game just looked so much more pure. I heard it was still bugged with some stuff, but the game looked like it was being designed by people that were genuinely happy about their product.

In the video Forest Colony looked like a true forest with trees all over the damn place. Sound effects sounded way more awesome with my favorite being the Centurion-AH pluggin the Awesome with a AC20 and you here the armor impact. Yeah the glowing red eyes was sinister but was able to be shot from far away.

Look im not here to start flaming PGI or IGP, I am here asking (begging) for you guys to find your passion again. Just look at the reviews online from the CB days were you loyal subjects were genuinely happy and supported you 100%. Compared with now where you are constantly harassed and given crap. Listen to the people Bryan and Russ, and by doing so the people may just make you rich beyond measure and elevate your reputation to the highest mark in the game industry. The greater your reputation, the more projects youll receive, the more money youll get and the bigger youll grow. We havent lossed all faith, but we can only wait so long for you to find you way.

Id like this message to get passed on if possible to someone in PGI if at all possible.

They downgraded the graphics when they found a lot of folks couldn't run it on pretty good machines. Couple that with the fact that it didn't seem very optimized on the machines that did run it and you have a small customer base.

Enough time has passed now that folks should be able to purchase newer machines to run it the way it began, but I don't know if that will ever happen.

Still a decent looking game, though I agree that sounds could use a once over.

It was and it ended up leading to the splatcats which is why srm spread was nerfed.

One group of them isn't so bad, 6 srm6s before ghost heat and that grouping was devastating.

Holy **** missiles used to be awesome. Why the hell do they not look like that anymore.

Heck I even like some of those old sound effects.

SRMs were useful.

They served as a balancing mechanism versus Snipers. Snipers were scary at range. But once the SRM doods got in close, the snipers were actually scared.

A MUCH BETTER game.

Yup, but it came down to this.

Choose One:
A. Srms are useful.
B. You can boat weapons.

They chose B.

That is what graphic settings are for. For the people that can't run the game with those visuals they just need to lower the settings, and for the people that can run those graphics they can up their settings to get them. What we got was an across the board reduction in graphics quality, which is a real shame.

Well, more like...

B. You can boat pinpoint damage sniper weapons that are useful both up close and from far away

They even killed the dual AC20, a laughable mech only good at close range... all in the name of the sniper master race.

Can't comment on the better game statement but the rest of your post makes me wish things could be like that now. A sniper should **** his robot pants if an SRM brawler mech caught him unaware or closed the distance wihtout being completely destoyed.

Isn't that the whole rock/paper/scissors balance type deal that should play out to some extent?

I miss the old LRM flight paths so much. And if that rocking of the Awesome there at the end was a string of internal ammo explosions, by god, they need to bring that back!

Booo to the Counterstrikers!!!

Truthfully, I was more into Unreal Tournament than Quake but I did miss quite a few classes playing Quake 3 Arena.

I don't get why they keep switching the Missle effects so much, I agree its pretty much at an all time low.

Yep. To this day, I still insist that the splatcat was just a one trick pony and nowhere near as much of a threat as some players insist they were.

I say booo to all of you separatists and wooo to all those that happily enjoyed Unreal Tournament, Quake, and Counter-Strike. :D
