Even in shadow like that, the Gold color is much more yellow-orange than green-brown. I understand several of the maps have a lot of blue and green due to water/grass, but I am underwhelmed with their appearance nonetheless. Photos should be taken in Alpine, where it is nice and bright, plus a clean white color tone, to get a true visual of it, instead of these heavily shadowed and color-washed shots.

You guys are completely missing the point of this: It's not about 'value' at all. It's a fund raiser.
No I think you're missing the point that we more critical of their trustworthiness at this point are trying to convey.
They already told us what they were going to do with the previous "fundraisers" (eg Founder, Phoenix, regular sales.)
They haven't delivered on what they said we would have upon our delivery of the money that they said was enough to do so.
We have every right to be be less trusting of their capabilities to finish this "released" game at this time. Not asking for anything more than what we were told would be out before the game was released initially.
If this game is completed in their eyes (it is released after all) after they told us that other things like CW etc would be in before it was released, whats to prevent them from deciding that they game is over, and moving on a few months after the clans are released?
Nothing.
Then, since it's got not single player option, you couldn't even turn the game on and just look at those golden mechs.
If they prove they're trustworthy, and deliver on their promises, then I'll (and I suspect many other people) buy more stuff. The game already has $300.00 of my money in it. More for many people.

They said it will never be "complete". It is always going to be expanded and new features added, like any modern video game.
Star Citizen is saying the exact same thing (and did so again today on their WMH episode). People ask for features, and they say "Someday we'd like to do it." Same thing here. Be patient, and you will be rewarded. Until then, figure out if a gold mech is in your budget for the game you have today*.
*answer: Yes. Yes it is.

CW isn't a new feature, it is a feature that was promised to be in the game long ago, and isn't. Patience is a viture, however 2 years for the promised feature at this times doesn't sound like a reward, but bait.

First because its enabling them, for every person that buys this it’s another check in the “we can do this crap box” as I said above that box is already checked enough times that it can’t be stopped now.
Second do you remember when gold skins were an award for foaming at the mouth grinding to 100% completion or some such? In the old days we were all equal we all could be golden if we wanted.
Now it’s no longer “we all paid the same price now it’s down to our skill”. Now the gaming world is like the real world that we play to escape, the struggle for riches is uneven and now it has invaded our beloved escapism!!
To make matters worse we are told things like “only the most loyal supporters will have these” so now someone who is rich and plays 30 minutes a week between ignoring his wife and closing orphanages, is MORE loyal than a poor Johnny who can afford to only pay $20 and has had a tattoo of a Madcat!
( Edit: Cannot stress enough I am not johnny!)
Lennin would be spinning in his grave… or glass box... whatever they got him in...
I, however am "poor Johnny", and I find myself full of a righteous indifference to those who shell out for what is basically a waste of money. I mean, really. If it is a choice between MechWarrior or pretending that everybody is equal, guess which I choose?
I do see where you come from with your first point, but in all honesty, PGI currently has a monopoly on this niche game, and there is not much you can do about it. To uncheck that "we can do this crap" box, you would have to prove that the player base will not tolerate the behavior. Now, how can we do that? Everybody has to stop funding the game. First off, that is not feasible. Second, such behavior is most certainly not healthy for the game, and while you may perhaps provoke a mind change, you may also end up getting the game shut down because of a lack of support. Then where would we be? Nobody would want to pick up the series again, seeing how violently the community reacted to this incarnation. And I feel that it bears repeating: what gives anybody the right to tell somebody how to spend, or not spend, their own money? If somebody chooses to spend $500 on a video game, their choice, not yours.

So PGI, PLEASE STOP SHOWING THESE OFF. Thank you.
You don't understand. It took them a massive effort, time and resources creating that gold skin in 5 minutes. They just need people to pay the $260 to compensate for PGIs massive commitment and efforts so the devs can finally get the gold plated coffee machine they so desperately need.

They're not your friends, and I'm a customer to them. I'm telling them how I feel they can improve their business and continue getting more of my money. if that's hurting your feelings, then maybe you are the one that should avoid the forum.

Agreed i would never presume to instruct anyone on their finances, that is for those more qualified than I. my personal opinion I state a few posts back from this one, I believe I mention fence sitting, but you asked why people feel the way they do and as the Internet is built on throwing out opinions I thought I would have a go at answering

I read your unedited post and must say I did have a chuckle -- you're witty!
But to answer a few points:
Money grabs are sometimes obnoxious but as with everything, it'll only be obnoxious to some and just fine for others because we all have different opinions, and that's okay.
And yes you're right that people do need a place to rant and vent so that's fine. I just happen to do it at my local pub
I realize the underage drinkers can't do that so this is the place. And though I admit I do at times tire of reading what I consider, whining -- it's okay. That what the forum is for.
I'm not a P&P BT player (but if there were folks out here in Japan who'd want to I'd be happy to join in) but I do have a certain respect for the opinions of the P&P BT players because it's where all the MechWarrior games came from.
That all being said, I do try to get into MWO and hour a day but the truth is it's actually more like 30 minutes a day on weekdays and 4 or 5 hours on the weekend -- when the wife and kids are asleep, so I'm not neglecting them
I do believe in voting with your wallet when it comes to Free-to-Play games. I only spend my hard earned dollars/yen on what I believe deserves it as well as what I can afford.
I do think the money spent speaks volumes because funding always has a direct impact on production.
I also donate to charities such as the Institute for Cancer Research and one or two others. I'm a strong believer in spending to help organizations that help people with medical needs or that conduct research to develop cures for serious diseases.
Am I nice person in the real world? I'd like to think so but to be honest only one of my ex-girlfriends bothers to keep in touch so I think the jury is out on that
Generally I'm very patient and believe in common courtesy but (and this is rare, mind you) if someone happens to rub me the wrong way, I do become Mr. Hyde more quick than I'm comfortable admitting.
Now a bit of a change but I have to ask: what MWO mech do you favor the most and also did you happen to pick up one of the Clan packs?
Thanks again for sharing your opinion. Even your unabbreviated, 'harsh' posts are pretty well written and entertaining to read.
Cheers from the Land of the Rising Sun:)

Nothing. .
My only response other than "just continue to please be patient like me" is ironically almost sarcastic (unintentional though):
I hope IGP changes from a privately owned company to a public one. Then we could all buy shares and be stockholders as well
Publicly traded, IGP would have a lot more funding than it could obtain from highly-priced fundraising campaigns such as Phoenix & Gold Khans.
I wonder why they don't?

OMG I got Redacted! This is so cool! I feel like some kind of political dissident or something I would be running a cup up and down my cage bars screaming "Attica", if to my shame I could spot and remember the bit they actually removed!... *sigh* it was 'not constructive' so its probably for the best
*Ahem*
Anyways you doing better than me with Ex's they squirt stingy liquid in my eyes and give me bits of paper with something about 100 yards at all times... And I wouldn't worry I usually have a rule that I stay away from the 'comments section' for blood pressure issues, god and you give to charities! see now I feel bad chucking a barbed comment your way damn you
FTP well I clearly have a Talon and I do have a couple of Heroes so im not adverse to chipping in a few pennies... I wonder going back in time what people would have said if you had put that prediction out on directions in the games industry... I remember at the time thinking that paying a subscription for 'Ultima Online' (yes im in my 30s) was way to far, how dare they, I already paid for this etc... And yet I oddly thought MWO would possibly benefit from it guess im just fickle ...
Anyho my usual choice of ride is anything in the light bracket and I don't really like humanoid mechs, so pretty much Jenners and Ravens but I am partial to some Locust fun, my screen grab scrap book has some wonderful achievements with the finicky little sods...
As for the clans I have a kid on the way so I am sitting out on this one, I would have liked a Kit Fox but as its not a Firemoth and as the packs are not the same price as pheonix ill just watch But its ok using the power of 'denial' I have convinced my self that I am in fact I.S all the way and death to the 'Tank born abominations'.
Plus the way releases work with light mechs first, I will probably only have like a month after release to C-Bill one anyways!

Actually, as I pointed out before, the green "reflection", which is actually transmission, indicates it's likely gold leaf. It's not the colour of gold that determines if it's gold or a wrap. That being said, you can polish gold to look like that wrap.
"Gold is so malleable that it can be beaten into gold leaf less than 100 nm thick, revealing a bluish-green color when light is transmitted through it. Gold reflects yellow and red, but not blue or blue-green. The direct transmission of light through a metal in the absence of reflection is observed only in rare instances." - http://www.webexhibi...sofcolor/9.html
When I got to the post, a few minutes after you posted, it said Summoner and nowhere said Warhawk. I thought you were expecting the Gold Warhawk, not the Summoner, and didn't notice it was up, hence the link. Was only trying to be helpful, you can stand down.
Huh? I wasn't trying to stand up for anything? O.o I had posted like as soon as this topic was made by PGI and spotted the mistake. You probably came in after the typo was fixed that I had pointed out. I was letting you know what you had missed
Sorry if I came off as aggressive.
