Can we please not discuss the moderation here or on other forums and get back on topic. Yes, I know that I'm partially to blame here. As informative and constructive those last posts were, they were off-topic. :)

My bad, an for the record when the **** was hitting the fan yesterday I was giving PGI the benefit of the doubt while cracking wise. :D

While I didn't notice it in the few games I got in yesterday, I'm getting folks mentioning that LRMs are STILL scaling damage by proximity- that is, they're deadlier at 1000m than 181m.

Anyone able to spend a bit of time in private matches and check this?

Yes, I do know that! But when the bad stuff that's being written ends up as insults and calls for firing people, it's going to far.

I do understand the frustration. I really do!

But is that really a good justifaction for being destructive, insulting and borderlining on harrasment on the forums? There is always the option to express your anger without stepping over the line.

Some of the posts, if I hadn't simply removed them as a clean-up action, would have been justification for a suspension if they were reported seperatly. That's how bad some of that content was!

well, I guess we'll have to see if Russ takes his Reddit Roundtable seriously, or if he decides it's a good time to make more "Island" comments. He has a chance to diffuse some of the tension in the community, or cause the place to combust like a fuel-air bomb.

I would love to participate, but sadly, my commentary and ideas don't lend themselves well to that style of Q&A, and last time I got an "answer" on an Ask the Devs, it was pretty much a non-answer.

Get Russ to realize being "President" doesn't mean he has to answer everything in politician speak, and who knows, maybe the forums won't burn?

not too mention, pretty much every weapon nerf has been in response to massive forum QQ...even wrong forum QQ. Just because they don't listen to EVERYTHING that is said.

Just a shame they seem to not listen to the stuff that would have saved us 2 years of imbalance....like 2 years ago.

scaling LRM damage may not have a big an effect, but it is still nearly as dumb a concept as Ghost Heat, I not more so.

I'm sure someone else has already said this, but I am going to suggest the possible cause of the variance in LRM damage is due to the angle of attack the LRMs come to the target at.

Scaling is easy to do. I'd rather have a % chance of a missile arming or not if it hits under minimum range.

However, in the end the net effect is the same.

or have them do a flat .25-.33 damage per missile that hits, representing the kinetic damage from the unexploded missile battering into the mech.

If IS LRMs also get it, I'm fine with that.

In that case, how about making them do said damage beyond their max range rather than having them explode ;)?

Beyond max range it's actually the propellant running out, and I figure the missiles self-destruct to avoid hitting anything that isn't the target.

And my logic on that comment of mine is that IS LRMs also have kinetic force, so if clan LRMs did damage just by hitting and not detonating, so should the IS ones.

As is, I honestly don't think they should do kinetic damage. It's the warhead detonation that deals damage, not the kinetic impact.

Morgan Kell fired his LRMs at point blank range to decent effect against Yorinaga Kurita!

PGI, working as intended. Wonder if it was the last minute, rushed patch data since they were all vacationing and drunk yesterday? Too hungover to proofread their code?

If that is PGI's issue, then they must all be rampantly out of control alcoholics ;)
