Yes you can simply be allowed to disagree with the state of the game without being bashed.

But when you come into a game's forum and make several hundred posts about how bad it is.

....you are not really being the kind of person anyone would expect to want to listen to are you?

NOTE: that is not necessarily about YOU.
But if it offends you, you might want to do some thinking.

....and we were doing so well with the thread.

Anyways, I caved and grabbed a mad cat and daishi a la carte.

TW+DW Ala Carte seems a fairly popular choice

Got myself the Black hawk collection.

Nova and Kit Fox.

I'm a light player at heart and I am always up for a challenge. The Adder I can wait for in C-bills, since it's so high up there.

It also struck me as the best deal for me, having limited means at the moment. $55 for 3 Mechs via A la Carte (first thought: Adders but the maths is cringe-worthy), $30 for the 3 Kit Fox pack, or $60 for Kit Foxes AND Novas. It made my choice pretty easy. At this stage anything else I could possibly want from the pack is way, way out of reach.

MMOs took far too much of my money way back when and at the time I didn't even care. Now in my mind I always think of it in comparison to other 'retail' games. I'd like to think my spending is in line for any other game I might have brought with the same money on steam ect. By the same token the number of hours I've spent playing (Good or bad), approximately justifies the MC injections as 'DLC' in my mind.

Essentially, this clan pack was my purchase. I've got a healthy stock of sale-price MC to ration on the little luxuries. Mechbays or the occasional sale colour. Maybe, just maybe an absolutely stunning cockpit item. It will probably be Fall the next time PGI might see another cash injection for me.

Which works out nicely, now I think about it. CW might be taking shape by then and I'm a sucker for Halloween themed stuff.

Your sarcastic NOTE is duly noted Shar, however it does not fit my commentary on this forum. So, please move on. Btw, there is a such thing as "written tone." You have a reasonably large body of work doing exactly what you describe as a defender of PGI on this forum. Blanket approval and constant defense that goes personal is just the sort of thing you are decrying atm.

100's of posts about how bad it is might just be a symptom of the user base dissatisfaction with the game. It's not like those people are crying wolf most of the time. There are problems with the game. Doesn't matter how often they complain about them. What matters is whether PGI fixes the issues and the perception among players on how PGI handles things.

Sure, people can disagree with the state of the game. The real question is: Can people disagree on the state of the game without taking direct/indirect stabs at each other? The comment I quoted included such a stab at the other side.

Sure, plenty of us do. The REAL question is, why can't people debate something on here without it becoming a polarizing, sarcastic shitfest that derails discussions? Consider your sarcastic and pithy response an example of just what I'm referring to. Yes, he took a shot. Was it more helpful to simply do the same (as you did) or argue the merits of the underlying issues.

Now, I'm not redressing you in particular DTerror, but the fact remains, there's no room for actual discussion, pro-or-con around here precisely because people feel compelled to simply further polarize the issue and snipe at each other over petty bullshit. Doesn't matter who started it, no one HAS to continue it.

It's easier to just identify who's a poor human being and add them to forum-ignore (one feature I think PGI got right around here), rather than get into a pissing match back and forth over nothing of substance because it certainly doesn't make someone look good, knowledgeable or reasonable to do the latter.

If someone wants to appear as a reasonable person that debates the merits of things, they can put aside sarcastic rejoinders and unneeded personal attacks. Two wrongs don't make a right in other words.

Doesn't take much to get back to that I wager.

Whatever the highest one was called. I'm not even sorry. I did regret it though, so maybe I am sorry. I don't know. More inactive premium time woo!

Gonna be hilarious to either drop in the weakest mechs in the history of the game, or the most overpowered, and then ride the roller coaster of buffs/nerfs until they're finally available for CB and get nerfed for good. This is a business you understand, have to keep people paying (for the latest, most OP mechs).

I apologize for that - I have spend a fair portion of the day reading what has felt like nothing but posts doing nothing but talking about how corrupt and evil PGI is.

That tends to put a damper on ones willingness to see the neutrals as actually neutral but upset. :)

So again - I apologize for my tone.

Epic.

I apologize in return for being a bit cranky.

Now, let me pop outta here before the "get a room" jokes begin, lol.

Timberwolf a la carte.

I don't care what anyone says or if I get made fun of for being a fanboi. It's an awesome mech.

I had planned on getting the thor/summoner too, but I decided I'd wait and level up the TW while untl the T/S comes out for c-bills and get it then.

Saw someone do the math - and if the in game prices are close to lore - that and the Kit Fox are the only two that buying A-La-Carte would be more expensive than buying with MC.

yup If I ever choose to I will get the adder "hero" as an MC purchase down the road or just cbill only purchases. I'm fine with one clan "hero" for now.

Warhawk package. While there are things that need to be improved I still have a lot of fun with this game. I missed out on the phoenix package so I went in extra on the clans

I absolutely love clan mechs and, more importantly, eugenics.

I'll buy a package when they explicitly state what I'm getting from it. Not going to buy anything sight-unseen after so many phoenix variants turned out to be garbage. Medallions and that stuff that doesn't impact in game performance are not something I give a frak about.

Clan mechs are so expensive I had to just go a la carte. Timber Wolf and Summoner. I thought that would grant a future discount on other a la carte purchases, but it does not nor is there any warning, so that's probably it. Otherwise I would be thinking of a Dire Wolf too.

I personally went for the Masakari Collection simply because I prefer buying everything all at once outright instead of working my way up to it (something like a car, for instance, I'd rather buy with cash up front than spend money gradually to buy it)

So true. I bought the Phoenix Mechs before the Gauss Rifle nerf and Ghost Heat. If I had known that even just the Gauss nerf was coming I would never have bought any of them. The Gauss Rifle is vital to Mechlab and mechs with just one ballistic hardpoint. I use a Joystick and the Gauss Rifle de-sync is for Mouse firing only. I feel very cheated by this Mouse-centric balancing, but I have adapted. I can't fix the Phoenix mechs though.
