As I understand it you can't get negative reputation for fighting for opposing factions. How that all fits into CW hasn't been nailed down. I just assume I can drop into a match for Ghost Bear and then a match for FRR and profit except for how those battles shift the border planet's ownership.

If it's a lock-out between IS or Clan, I'll go Clan. At least until MWO goes cross-tech in a few years. :)

I have already shot the CT and or legs out from under a regiment worth of Clan Mechs, so are you telling me that "SALVAGE" is out for MWO..??

There were plenty of Arm mounted weapons and AFK Clan mechs laying around matches for me to be able to put together a Timber-Crow, or even a Dire-Fox.. You know what I mean.

I can tell you this.... Merc units would have no moral issues with picking through the dead and using salvage ANY way they could, up to and including mounting Clan Weapons (pods) any way they could for an advantage..

Finding a Mech they could get running again on the field, are you kidding me..?? That would be like finding a pile of gold, diamonds, wenches and booze.

I would think after seeing what Clan Tech is like, you would have Merc Units marauding about to aquire such useful tools that would enhance their chosen PROFESSION.

Merc units FIGHT, that's what they do, it's their livelihood... Get it..??

People really aren't this stupid, right?
That they wouldn't realize that buying a CLAN Mech might limit them to only using said Mech for CLANs?

It's incredibly frustrating that everything apparently needs to be dumbed down for the lowest common denominator!! Wasn't this supposed to be a "Thinking Man's Shooter"?

You would think tht certain factions would only get certain mechs really to keep in with the lore and stuff.... but then there is the date rollback, so what are clan mechs doing here already?

Makes perfect sense. No invasion clan pilot is going to risk dezgra by allowing themself to be captured alive in the first couple years of the invasion. We would much rather die gloriously in battle leaving our rides as smoking wrecked ruins of twisted metal and burnt circuitry.

Wolf's Dragoons didn't use clan mechs did they? I thought they at least started out with outdated (by clan standards) mechs.

Those may not be Clan mechs but they were just as awesome!

Unless somehow they allow people to play as units in a faction, in which case people can pick wolf's dragoons and get access to some clan mechs

As was the way it we were told To become a Dragoon you have to get full Loyalty from all the houses before you can be eligible for Dragoons.

If CW is a resource drive planetary league then PGI could set it up so that a house or mercenary unit buys, builds, steals or salvages 'mechs. IS units would not be building or buying Clan 'mechs but they could be stealing or salvaging them. That would be a way of allowing IS units to play with Clan 'tech in limited numbers (and vice versa of course, a Clan unit could field any IS 'mechs they have salvaged).

so any dedicated merc corp now asks for refund? And anyone on the fence keeps their money because why buy a clan mech you can't play in CW?

Sp on tournaments you can use any mech you want and drop in premade teams but if you want your match to count for your rank you need to drop solo and in the specified mech. Same with faction warfare.

Why not give a +20% cbill boost if using a proper house IS mech and no cbill bonus for any other IS mech and a -20% cbill penalty for a clan mech. Do the same for the clanners.

Because then you'd have more or less what we have now, which is what some people are objecting to.
