We all know of the big problems MWO has at the moment, so I won't talk about that now.
But there are also smaller, presumably easy things that are not working (or are completely missing) for some time now, some date back to Open or even Closed Beta.
I want to make a list of them so maybe they can get fixed "along the way". I'm sure that some of the Devs have a bit of spare time, e.g. when someone is working on a bottleneck and others can't do anything in the mean time. Even if that's not the case, this list can also serve as a reminder after CW etc. is done that there is still work to do.

So let's go, further input appreciated!
  • Cockpit displays. Yes, we don't forget them. After all they worked back in CB. Even if they are not displaying live-feeds, they could at least show a static image instead of "no signal". Maybe The status of gyro, life support and sensors, because they won't change anyhow. (which brings me to the next point)
  • Critical hits on engine, gyro, life support, actuators etc. Long overdue. Gyro could be tricky because there is still no falling down. But for now it could result in a slower movement or shaky crosshairs.
  • The mech pilot. It needs a new model without that silly space suit.
  • Autocannons optically still fire "missiles" and have no proper projectile rendered.
  • Bitchin' Betty should give us a "Target destroyed" message.
  • Toggle for AMS and TAG.
  • Option to discard ammunition.
  • Slower movement in water (how can this still be not in the game?)
  • If you have really much time: Armor breaches under water (section gets destroyed if internally damaged and submersed in water).
  • Back view camera. Doesn't have to be pip (we know about the engine limitations). Just make the whole view change to backwards as we had in MW4. You can make 3PV, then this shouldn't be a problem.
  • Gauss explosion still is listed as ammo explosion on death screen.
  • Cracks in the wind shield after getting hit in the head.
  • Slider for Field Of View in the options screen.
That is all I can think of for now - feel free to add your own points, I can update the list if this topic gets some feedback.

+1 pushing it up to CM team to get us a list.

A few other small things that might be worth adding...
  • On the weapons panel on the cockpit, add a two-letter code denoting where each weapon is. RA, RT, CT, LT, LA. This should help figuring out which weapons are where in case you lose some mid-battle to criticals, as well as helping us reconfigure weapon groups on the fly. ( this latest patch seems to like to randomly eat weapon group configurations, too )
  • Allow people to choose an icon to represent their mech with instead of a dorito (or in addition to? ). Such an icon would/should represent the supposed role for which the mech is built. For example, fire support could be a diagonal missile, while a brawler would be a fist, a scout could be a winged boot, etc.
I'll add more later if I think of anything.

How about readable text?

Alternatively the option for different resolutions in-game and in-client.

You know, so people can...read.

We do this for several reasons. Matt Craig could offer a better technical description, but here's my non-tech version. Switching resolutions between the front end and back end can lead to crashes, incompatibilities on a users machine, and other issues that may lead to black screen bugs entering the match. To help prevent these, we only allow the client to be run in one resolution and graphics setting, to ensure that a user can run the game properly once they load into a match.

Add in change firing behaviour of Ultra cannons so holding down the fire button shoots only 1 bullet per cooldown time and clicking in between cooldown shoots the 2nd bullet. (and only then it can jam).

The way it is now is totally backasswards

Oh and short commands, you know like in any other game...that would be very useful!

I believe it's been mention before but how about destructible objects? My Atlas should never get stuck on those little statues in River City. I should be able to crush them. Plus having this feature with buildings and bridges would make the game a lot more interesting. Don't know how possible that is though.

Wow, I didn't really think it would get recognition from higher up, thanks for the feedback Bryan!

First one - good idea!

Second one also, but I don't think that falls under "small things", I guess that will be processed with Role Warfare, if we ever get one...

That' also not one of the "small things" but rather one of the big problems I talked about in the OP :P Has also been talked to death, I'm sure the Devs know about it!

Roger that! Pinned for good measure so we can get more of these small ideas up

Thanks :P

Now we only need some feedback from the Devs if they plan to work on those, and/or if it's realistic that those get fixed (or if there are some problems which we don't know about).

This one isn't so much a fix as an OCD request. The team chat and All chat should be reversed: "T" for team, and "Y" for yell at everybody. Lance chat obviously doesn't fit in this mnemonic system, so it stays stuck at "U".

Thanks for this thread! Let's keep grabbing up ideas for the next 24 hours or so and then I will create a poll from the list based on what the Devs feel could be an easy win on the road to further big features and fixes. :P

I must say I am very positively surprised about the quick response. If this works as planned, maybe I'll even reconsider buying a Clan pack

Just so all the Devs know: Communication like this is really appreciated from us players, at least if it isn't empty words in the end. So keep up the work! <_<

Okay, throwing another couple ideas in.
  • On the battle map, add a scale to inform the player how big in meters each grid is. (unless it's there and I've missed/forgot about it all these months)
  • Related to the battle map, rangefinder-to-interesting-object feature. Tap key, wherever you are pointing to gets marked on your battle map. This way if you see a mech without a dorito, for example, you can simply point at him, tap the key and then look at the battle map to call out his location.

Is chat text still light blue?
If so then chat text that isn't the same colour as the sky or snow so one doesn't have to swing their mech all over the place looking for a patch of dark terrain to be able to read chat would be nice.

Ok, I get that switching resolutions is a problem - but why is font size a problem?

I got a strange comment from your boss on Twitter when I told him it's hard to read on a fairly common resolution like 2560x1440 (months a go, directly following the release of 2.0).

This has been mentioned really often, and nothing has changed. It's still very hard to read, further "enhanced" by some writing being positioned over surfaces in colors similar to the fonts.
  • Long story short: I, and many others, need larger fonts. I don't want to strain my eyes just to read a game's info, not even mentioning it destroys a lot of fun.
  • And, unrelated: The ability to paste things into the launcher would make using password safes easy. I actually memorized the random generated MWO password, but pasting isn't too tough, is it?

Can't you just reconfigure the keys via options?

@all: I can't look for myself right now, but if is fixed now that you can't keep backspace pressed to clear the text in the chat window? If not, that should go on the list.

More HUD customization in general would be awesome. Colors, indicators, option to put it all on cockpit screens but the reticule and go full sim.

Also, along with a spot assists, what if you received credit for damage done by teammate from your spotting? Give it the same weight as regular damage for match scoring purposes. Represent it as: direct damage(damage assist) on the match summary.

So if you’re running your spotter light and you only deal 152 direct damage, but the damage caused by your spotting (be it Tag, NARC or regular targeting) is around 450, your final stats look like this: 152 (450) and you are rewarded for doing 602 damage.

This is by no means a total fix for information warfare, but it seems like a relatively simple addition to help out those who do spot and encourage more to do it.

*rubs head* Yeah. More.
  • In Conquest mode, add to the scoring tab the kills on each side as well. It's a failing to have to press TAB to know how many people you still have left on your team. And on the enemy's.
  • Speaking of kills, color the "PlayerA has killed PlayerB" text so it's clear at a glance which team just lost a mech. (ideally, adding icons and such would be great but just coloring the player names would be a quick and effective fix)

This music instead of the new music.

http://youtu.be/InGhBZAyBAs?t=1m39s

Improved eyecandy and tactile feedback like we had in CB as well as more interesting pulse lasers and missile graphics and mechanics (this applies to all missiles and all pulse lasers)

Posted Image

Sunny forest colony and better quality textures on mechs like we had in closed beta

Also, map conditions would be cool like dynamic weather, varying heat levels and visibility levels (frozen city's slightly varying fog doesn't count as it seems more lazy than anything else), and while im here, I may as well say give us 2-12 groups.

- a missile door indicator for the HUD (it's basically impossible to determine their status as a colorblind person)

- group chain fire

- every dev should dedicate some time every day to fixing the geometry on the maps.
like the last hour or half hour of the day is the invisible-walls-removing-hour. (it's possibly the most aggravating thing in the game to see your rockets, laser beams or AC rounds to explode on some invisible wall 1-2m away from the next wall/ridge/obstacle)
