One does not simply invade rock into inner sphere!

Would it have been so horrible to conservatively start in 3025 and work yourself up? Jumping forward in time ain't half as bad as goping back. And CW would have been good to establish way prior to the clan invasion. Around 3025 way more housefighting would have made sense.

Just my thoughts...

Solo

Unfortunately, it wouldn't work. They decided on an era to set the game, build art assets, select mechs and technology for inclusion. This era is the clan invasion around 3050. The whole idea of a 1:1 time mapping is actually ridiculous since every event in the BT universe has a beginning and an end. On the other hand, if they don't plan on ending the game at some point in time then they need to avoid tying it to a particular time line or lore events in an external plot line unrelated to their game. Use the setting, include some of the time line events but trying to stick to the timeline in any real sense is a recipe for disappointment no matter how cool it is at first.

On the other hand, their plan may be to try to attract a whole new generation of players predicated on the on-going storyline. What those folks will do when that storyline ends ... ? Only time will tell ...

I see no issues with the S variants being available at this point in the timeline. It's not like they're advanced tech, just alternate configs with tech that was already available.

Hi everyone!

Please provide us your feedback regarding the latest Command Chair post regarding the game timeline!

When Community Warfare is ready, the Clans will only occupy a small number of planets. This is where players will have the ability to follow a recreation of the Clan Invasion by forcing their way down into FRR territory and harassing House Steiner and House Kurita along the way. However, if the Inner Sphere players are organized, they can even change the course of BattleTech history and try to stop the Clans in their tracks.
This seems inevitable given the changes to the Clans, and rather disappointing.

It's a good idea. Assuming this actually happens and the gameplay/warfare side of it is worthy of the name "community warfare" then it would be a solid move towards rebuilding some of the communities confidence.

I'm reserving my enthusiasm until I know the answer to 3 questions:

Will it be on time?
Will it be a meaningful addition to the MWO experience in regards to a persistent universe where player/faction choice/action matters and has consequences? (and MWO could so use something meaningful)
Will there be pay walls standing between players and a reasonable level of participation?

This is a fantastic idea! Can we get the daily ISN updates replayed as well? I really miss those.

I agree, i think the ISN twitter feed should start lighting up with Clan sightings and reports.

I'm always on board for any move that (a) improves a game, (:D keeps it as close to lore as possible and (c) makes developing CW easier/more viable/move quicker!

Roll us back please!

It will be all vs all. We will be lumped by faction where possible.

Stock loadouts have never been viable, in the meaning that they were well designed, even in TT. You could always change the load out to make better use out of your tonnage and critical slots, and that doesn't even take into account different playstyles - even keeping the same basic loadout the stock build was very inefficient on every variant I ever saw.

Ok i did a suggestion in the german subsection of the forums some weeks ago...

i don't want to fight the Clan Invasion in only one Queue "IS vs Clan" aka "Blue Teams vs Red team" (did this the last 2 years).
I don't want to fight alongside with Liaos, Kuritas and Mariks vs a mixed Team of Clan Members (Wolf/Jade Falcons/....) over a Steiner world. Mercs/Lonewolves would be ok in my Team.

So how would Marik, Liao and Davion participate at the Clan Invasion ?

Quote

However, if the Inner Sphere players are organized, they can even change the course of BattleTech history and try to stop the Clans in their tracks.

So we have an alternate history... how abaout alternating the history/canon a little bit more .....

don't kill me BT Nerds :D
Spoiler

Linkt to the suggestion more elaborated but in german --> http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__3339523

Sooo... does this mean I will get a refund on my "3050" holo cockpit item?
Anyway, years matter only little, clans will win anyway. Nice of them to come clean though.

No, you just pre-ordered the 3050 New Years hologram. You are just prepared to bring in the new year.

Timeline needed rewind no, problems here.

It's gonna be weird playing with IS and Clan mixed either way.

This. I'm always seeing pretty girls sporting the "<insert next year here>" tiaras at New Year Eve parties. :D

World of Tanks is like that too; multiple nations all grouped together fighting each other. It's all good. I'm assuming it's all salvage for now.

GOOD.

I have, like many others, been saying it was a shame to miss out on 3049-51 in terms of story driven content/events for this game for over a year now.

Anyone familiar with CBT/MW franchise and how lore based in game events are crucial to enjoyment of F2P games should be on board with this timeline rollback.

Now we just need story driven content and events to actually happen, otherwise there is no point in rolling back the clock imo. Right now the MWO universe is virtually all player driven. Outside of the mechwarriors and characters we shoot the **** with in TS and shoot at in game that is more or less the totality of storyline of MWO game world atm.
