As one of those that haven't purchased clan packages and stand to be at a distinct disadvantage piloting old n busted. I think about the only things I can pilot on the dreaded day will be lrm boats, high mounted Jagers and possibly meta poptart to deal with clan mechs. Still don't have all the C-bills for the IS chassis I still want but I don't see much of a point since those will soon be likely to be obsolete. A lot of people who can't handle it if it turns into a clan package vs. everyone else pay to win roflstomp may end up quitting. But hey whatever happens is going to happen at this point. You just have to roll the dice and hope your team has more clan and theirs have less. The first go to mech not wanting to be out in the open vs double gauss/ppc or even quad gauss if possible will probably be my Stk-3h. Just sit back chuck missiles and hope I one day can afford clan power. Otherwise I have my Misery, Firebrand, Other Jagers, Stalkers, lights, and Dragon slayer to hopefully have some kind of viability. Even though it seems like we have been getting these 50% sales on inner sphere mechs as if we are buying a sinking ship I did it anyway. Got the DS in thw winning mechs sale and don't have the other 2 to elite it yet.
Also it would be nice if inner sphere got the rest of the weapon arsenal possible. Maybe some true double slot heat sinks. It's bad enough clan tech endo/ferro only takes up 7 crits instead of 14. I would love to see some MRM love and the rest of the lb-x family come on over. I don't think many clanners are going to care since you have to destroy 2 torsos or the center to break clan xl, and honestly who cares about locked engine rating and speed that much when you can swing that much firepower. It's not like we have King Crabs to go toe to toe clanbusting yet like we should have in the timeline. Already put plenty of money in this game for a while having 7 65ton+ hero mechs, and I won't pay 55$ for an ala carte mech chassis. That costs as much as most full featured triple A titles. (except BF4 that game is still a broke p.o.s) Anyway pardon the derailment I am prone to going off on tangents.
Anyone have thoughts on what they are going to do if you are clan pack-less.

I still count... I did not buy a clan pack... i bought my TW a la carte... I intend to spend a few days in the mech lab and training grounds in order to get the feel for it before i take it to the plains.

Most of the Clan mechs are slow and can't modify their engines. I reckon the classic 2ERLL Raven would do well, but I'll likely play my Jenner anyway.

I've got an a la carte TW heading my way which I'll try not to turn into a Timbertart, it would make me feel dirty. But I fear when the time comes it will be a sea of meta with a smattering LRMs and fast lights from those who don't have clan mechs. So carry on as normal I guess.

Just remember if you meta too hard and the clans are only balanced against meta but OP against everything else, they won't get nerfed. Or maybe they'll even get buffed! So in conclusion go hard.

I'll be playing the same stuff I normally play.

Working on FireStarters right now, so will probably keep working on those until they're mastered.

I might have bought one of the clan packages, but after so many of the Phoenix variants turned out to be pretty mediocre, I decided to hold off and just buy individual chassis later once the spenders and meta guys work out which ones work and which ones are trash.

Because the 30% cbill boost isn't all that big of a deal unless you're only ever running the prime/hero variants of mechs.
