Weird, I always liked MW:LL. I probably like it far more than you like MWO. I'm all for people trying it out, and highly recommend they do.
I'm just saying try to sell MW:LL without trying to make MWO seem like a lesser alternative. If you sell MW:LL as a better game all around, people will have unrealistic expectations and be a lot more turned off when they see what it really is: A first rate mod, and not a commercial project.

That's my point. If you sell it as a game that has better graphics than MWO, they're going to feel awfully bad when they try it out. You should focus instead on the differences that matter to people: Unlimited respawns but no mech lab, non mech options, smaller population, etc. Don't tell people what is better or worse than MWO. Explain the differences and cater to what MWLL has to offer that is missing in MWO.
And do it without the bile that permeates your posts. Talking about how PGI killed MWLL or how MWO let you down... that doesn't sell. Talking about mod of the year for 2 years, or tank combat, or hot fast respawn action... that excites people without making them go "huh, this guy sounds bitter. Maybe I don't want to play with bitter people."

If you're are interviewing for another job and trying to convince the interviewer, do you tell them the reason you left your previous job was that you stormed out in anger because you were pissed with the direction the company was going, or do you say "I felt it was time for me to look at new opportunities"?
Be someone people want to hang out with, and you'll do far better attracting them to MW:LL than "the guy who shits all over MWO; I'm sure he's super fun at parties and I can't wait to spend extended periods on teamspeak with him!"

No, that isn't what you're doing. You're selling out your old game to promote your new game. You're being baited into "NO YOU" type replies that end up doing more harm than good. You may not think that marketing matters and that by fighting back you're defending your game, but real life doesn't work that way. Nobody cares that you are passionate about MWLL. People care about something that someone is excited about.
Change your tone about MWO, don't get baited, and you'll have far more success promoting MW:LL. It's a great mod. Don't oversell it, point out the good parts, and it is far better to bite your tongue about MWO than to try to drag it through the mud.

I don't sense any ulterior motives or passive-aggressive stuff in kh0rn's posts. He's fairly straightforward with his points and is just trying to bring publicity to MWLL.
I may disagree on certain things, like the idea that MWLL's style of gameplay would appeal to enough users to justify it financially. MWO's decisions make sense on some things. But I do agree that the maps in MWO are too small, that role warfare isn't developed enough, and that since PGI now has a solid base, they should start taking queues from MWLL.

Once I had that free_reticule staying put it was an awesome game. Only 6-8 players online but I still had fun with especially with the new maps that had weather effects and day/night cycles.
Really sad that the development has ended. A wet dream of mine is that Crytek/Wandering Samurai/Cloud Imperium/[Other company/game engine] would use Mechwarrior as a showcase of what the engine can do and continuously evolve it.
