I'm thinking probably panther or orion. But an unseen would be superb or the flashman (starleague version was beautiful!)

I'd like to see the Banshee or possibly a Crusader but i wouldn't hold out on the latter

Light- Panther, Spider, or Urbie

Medium (If they actually do another one)- Vindicator or Phoenix Hawk

Heavy- Grasshopper (I would absolutely love to have one) or Orion (A bit more likely)

Assault- Banshee

Light: Flea: Need i remind you anyone who can afford a flea a couple of machine guns and has some moxy can compete.

Medium: Arctic Wolf: Fast fire support medium, we already have a heavy brawler.

Heavy: Rifleman: Old as sin mech but effective and could serve as a great jump off point for other mechs. With range of smaller low caliber/damage weapons could be a great heavy anti-scout and base defender.

Assault: Victor: Low-end easy to play assault. Jump jets and all that derp just to bother the haters. Its an old design so could also serve as a great jump off point for other Mechs. As well has a wide range of weapon layouts using the huge ballistic capability. I always had lots of fun tweaking this guy in mw4. (and the gladiator but that doesn't exist until clans show up).

You know, they're going to keep releasing artworks for mechs indefinitely until they run out of designs. But Russ however did say they will have 10 unique mechs at open beta launch. So presumably it will be the first 10 mechs released as artworks. So really there are no set of mechs they're aiming for.

Each mech from concept to modelling and finally in-game takes a really long time according to Mr De Koning from his chat we had.

What makes you think they will stop at 16? Presumably they will want to keep us playing (and paying) for a long time: ideally they will keep releasing mechs for months after release.

You have a point, but there are still some criteria for their mech selection. No mechs not available in 3049. No, Star League/Comstar/Really rare mechs. No clan mechs (for a while). No mechs with really few variants (probably). And no unseen (yet, but there is still hope, they haven't denied the possibility)

But you are right that we can't assume that they are aiming for equal numbers available in all classes at launch and there certainly doesn't seem to be any special tonnage or role pattern.
