Most of the SL era mechs are in the evil clutches of [REDACTED] in 3049. That's why it is extremely unlikely that we will see them (anytime soon)

Well I guessed right on the stalker, and I was "close" on the Trenchbucket. I guessed Dervish, a 55 ton missile mech that could jump. Instead we got a 50 ton missile mech that can jump in some configurations. (interestingly, we have 3 50 ton mechs now)

This leaves my remaining guesses:

Light with ballistic weapons - Firestarter (might be too similar looking to the Commando though. Flea would do the job, but would anyone actually use it?)

Heavy Energy Boat - Flashman (though given its lack of variants, we may see the Orion instead. Both are 75 tonners)

Jumping Assault - Highlander. Just because.

Apparently not a popular choice, but my fav in MW4 was the Loki. I love my 360 torsos and the Loki and Raven were about 75% of my play time. For an assault. . . . . Daishi of course!

P.S. Next choice in heavies would be the Black Knight or Mad Cat.

P.P.S. No fleas please.

P.P.P.S. Giant robots are cool. Just let me drive whatever.

Well they threw us a medium instead of a light, breaking their pattern to date, so it could be any of the other 3 weight classes. I'd say Panther or Wolfhound for light, Grasshopper or Orion for heavy, and Victor or Banshee for assault.

Sign me up for a Axeman nothing like spliting some tin cans with a multi ton axe :)

Melee ain't part of the game at launch, which means the Axeman would be pointless. If it was, I'd agree with you and include the Hatchetman

I don't know how many people actually know the history of the inner sphere or the mechs? So I'll get all nerdy here(sorry).

If this is set for 3049 then anything from the 3050 catalog will probably not appear.
Also, any mechs deemed star league should also not really show up along with Clan mechs because of special tech.
This game comes across as 3049 inner sphere fighting.

Also, I don't know litigation specifics for this game but FASA had litigation problems with the people on the MACROSS anime and there's limited usability on some of those clone mechs. (Battlemaster, locust, rifleman, archer, wasp, stinger, maruader, Phonex hawk, valkyrie, ostol, ostroc, warhammer, shadow hawkm griffin, wolverine, crusader, thunderbolt) I don't expect to see any of these.

I think we will see some more light mechs to medium to give more of an example what was expected in mech combat.

The mechs chosen would come from below:
light mech: 30 tons = spider (fastest mech on the battlefield and produced by all houses)
light mech: 35 tons = firestarter (my fav for burning and scouting and common mech with distinctive design)
light mech: 35 tons = Panther (tough ******)
Medium mech: 40 tons = Assasin (common and a large scout)
Medium mech: 40 tons = Hermes II (decent scout mech)
Medium mech: 45 tons = Vindicator (all purpose mech fairly common)
Medium mech: 45 tons = Blackjack (medium fire support - lowend jagermech)
Medium mech: 55 tons = dervish (fire support)
Heavy mech: 65 tons = Jagermech (can't have rifleman so next best thing with great fire support)
Heavy mech: 70 tons = Grasshopper (my fav heavy with jump jets)
Heavy mech: 75 ton = Orion (One of the most common and modified in the btech universe)
Assualt mech: 80 tons = Victor (80 tons with jump jets)
Assault mech: 90 tons =Cyclops (command and control specialist)

I don't expect these mechs::
Light mech: 30 tons = Javelin (missle dependent)
Medium mech: 55 tons = Scorpion (four legged but quick. would work differently than other mechs. a design challenge)
Medium mech: Hatchetman (they said no melee. The hatchet is part of the overall weight not extra)
Heavy Mech: Axeman (they said no melee. The hatchet is part of the overall weight not extra)

I've been thinking. Yeah i know....Me thinking with my date expired brain? That sounds like the beginning of a joke.

In any case- The dev's said in the medium video that the medium mechs were the most common mechs on the battlefield.
100 ton assault mechs are without a doubt the most uncommon mechs out there.

They have broken their weightclass release partern so it wouldn't be farfetched for them to give us yet another medium mech because they are supposed to be so common.
I would prefer another jump capable light though.

Trebuchet is a good mech but I still wish it was the Dervish...It would be really neat to see the art design for the Crab....Yeah, Make it the Crab, I need to see this.

(I also would enjoy the Spider or Panther..)
