So I just noticed that machine guns listed on smufy's are down to a .08 damage and .8 dps instead of the .1 damage and 1 dps they used to have. I didn't see anything about it in the forums, and I know they were still at 1 dps when the Arrow came out. So did PGI just release a mech specifically geared towards 6 mgs and then nerf the mg?

Or has the unthinkable happened, and smurfy's is wrong about something?

I think, though not sure, the PTS machineguns got a nerf.

Yeah, I don't know why, either, MGs aren't exactly overly threatening.

OTOH, now that we have half ton ammo bins, the minimum tonnage cost for bringing an MG went down.

If you watch one of the recent NGNG vids, Nike drops in and mentions that they found a bug that had been keeping MGs 20% less effective. They've fixed it, but also nerfed the damage to 0.8 (20%) less, so all in all there's no net change.

yeah...except I have noticed a huge dropoff in my critting with them, so there actually did end up being one.

Reducing the damage means more time on target to kill the HP of a component. Your crits are still the same, but the MGs take longer to do the damage that does a guaranteed crit. When they reduced the damage, they still nerfed the ability of the MG to kill components. It seems that most of our crits that we thought were because of bonuses were actually from damage.

I ran an Arrow in the PTS to demoralizing effect and I didn't feel any change in performance.

Drop an MG for an LB-10X >>> ? >>> Profit.

All I know is that any Clan mech that can equip MGs should do it. They are too fun and effective to pass up.

They also found something in the code that has been causing lasers to deal 10% (IIRC) less damage than they should, which is fixed.

They should have left MGs as-is after fixing the bug. :) :) :D

I run three small lasers instead of the mediums for extra DPS. It is uncanny how good that build is.

Also CLAN MG's are .25 tons instead of .5t so the cost of taking 2 MGs just went to 1T, as you can take 2 MGs and a 1/2 ton of ammo for them all for a single ton...think about that one!

They are also accurate. They don't spray all over like the IS MG.

MGs were ballistic weapons so yeah, they kind of did need a nerf just like the ACs still do.

Its the same as the IS MG.

The "Spray" is most likely you moving around, MG's do have Bullet Drop too.

Was this the PTS or already implemented? I can't say for sure last night, but it felt like my lasers were consistently doing the damage they were supposed to, and I was finally getting some decent kills with them.

The IS MG fires randomly in a cone.

Funny considering I've seen threads complaining that large laser / ER large lasers are OP and need nerfed :)

Saw that build tonight, liked it. Rare that you see asymmetric loads at all these days.

Almost felt bad when I ruined him in my WVR ha. SRM2/4/6, MPL, LB10X. All the sub-optimal weapons in one handy 55-ton package. Don't know why/how it works so well. Looking forward to live implementation of the Buckton fix!

Not sure tbh. I just remember it being mentioned in the NGNG PTS stream.
