The time is probably because in NA they don't really know that the rest of the world exists?

Most likely. I find this is sadly true in a sizeable portion of NA players i have encountered in any online games. Either that or they are just intentionally ignorant in order to offend.

This video could give some insight. It never gets old. Lol.

ok lemme esplain something to you European people who may or may not understand time and clocks and things like that. they are in PDT time zone. which is 9 hours behind you. So to complete the patch by 17:00 CET they would have to start patching at 5 PM their time. not finishing the patch till 10 PM their time. Then they would need to monitor it to make sure they did not really break something for about 4 hours which means that they don't get to go home till 2 AM. That is an 18 hour work day. Then they have to come in at 8 AM which is 6 hours later. And you expect them to do all this and pay a Metric Butt ton of overtime simply so that the 10% of their player base that is in Europe is not slightly inconvenienced. Somehow I don't think this is going to happen. Now be quiet and take it like a man.

I am an admin and we have these work times sometimes, some even have that regulary. If my company releases a new product, I frequently work nighttimes or even weekends. That's part of the IT-guy's job. Well, unless you work in the game industry obviously...

Aww, they went back to the old clan logos. Other than Wolf I liked the new ones.

The debate between football and soccer is greater than Clan vs IS.

Chaps; why is this thread full of extremists and terrorists? People are just stating dissapointment and opinion that if the patch had started one or two hours earlier (which would only be 0800 or 0900 PGI time; considered business hours in civilised places) that Europeans would still be able to enjoy this game on the day of release. Before you get all defensive or angry, or make wild accusations about wanting people to be up at 0200 in the morning, just know one thing: I love you and, yes dear, you were right.

Well, us EU still have the right to complain about how PGI screws us with their hours instead of doing something that would be manageable for both US and EU players. Because they're a company providing a game and so they should be caring about all their players. Simple. They work earlier for a patch release that big ? Doesn't seem like crazy stuff to do. I do extra hours or even days of work in my job on the big occasions, and I don't get paid more, i just do it because it's necessary for everyone to be satisfied (I'm a school librarian and right these two weeks i'll do about 3 extra days of work just to make sure that all the school books - which are provided for free in french public schools - are managed properly and that every teacher and student is ready to go for the next school year without screwing anyone up in the schedule).

Just sayin. Nobody will care because we'll all get to play clan mechs tomorrow, one evening aint much in a lifetime, it's just the idea behind the whole thing that kind of lets me down.

I'm fully aware of the rest of the world. If it wasn't there, where would I go on vacation? Maine? I think not!

So rather than EU getting hit at the bad time, Asia/Australia gets hit with it instead?

Someone's going to be unhappy, so they might as well work it at the best time for them.

Are you capable of reading, either my posts or a time zone map?

7am PST is bed time for Australians, and I've met so few Asians on the public teamspeak servers that other than Singapore, I don't think there's a big group of them playing this game.

Also, the population of paying players in Australia/NZ/Asia is pretty small compared to Europe. Cutting off the very end of their night isn't as bad cutting off the entire primetime of many paying customers in Europe.

Look, I'm from America. I understand maps, time zones, and geographic distributions of paying customers better than most people, which most of you aren't doing much to disprove.

10am pst is a f**king horrible time to begin a major content patch. You can argue with this all day, but you're not going to sound very smart unless you're in the finance department for PGI and can offer some sort of hard numbers on how this particular time period is actually the sweet spot.

I looked at the time charts.

When PGI patches, the Asians/Australians are asleep, the Americans are at work/school, and the English are just getting home from work. The Germans and Eastern Europeans have already been home and are just settling down for some perfect MWO time...but the servers are down until late.

On major content releases, they could come in earlier. This isn't such a novel concept, it's called customer service. If you were running a burger joint, you wouldn't close for lunch just so you could rest up for the dinner shift.

Also, the "someone will be screwed no matter what" argument is a foolish one. You look at the geolocations of your 3 major populations of paying players...and then you adjust to that. It's the same reason McDonald's doesn't hold out their breakfast menu for swing-shift security guards...they're such a tiny demographic that it isn't worth it.

Pissing off a tens of thousands of European customers over and over again...well, that's just bad business.

Once again, look at the time charts and tell me who exactly among the paying demographic is getting screwed at 7am PST.

Good thing this is a steakhouse and not a burger joint !

You are making a very wild assumption that anyone here wants to sound smart.

Yea, PGI operates on their time, but their servers they buy bandwidth hosting company from or however they have it set up are in Toronto.
