Best way to deal with playing a Dire Wolf is making sure you're not left all by your own lonesome. And definitely avoid urban combat if you can, you want your enemies to be in front of you so you turn them to mush with your massive dakkalicious weapons, not weaving in and out of buildings and flanking you constantly.
Put in other words, make sure you have a team to cover your flanks, then use your massive guns to turn the opponents into swiss cheese. Dire Wolf is a true ASSAULT mech. Don't stand in its way...
I never leave my teammates.

if the mech is unleveled it WILL handle like a huge pig - i find any unleveled mech over 60t very hard to control and i get smoked pretty much every match without dealing out a lot of damage back - having played 4000+ games has never changed that fact even now
however one they get the X2 basic every mech all of a sudden turns into a ballerina and THEN i can start smoking everything in sight - of course i don't pilot anything that goes less than 75kph so i can only imagine it's the same for a mech that goes 20kph slower
I've been working on getting it elited, but even with the basics, it's not very responsive. I'll hold final judgement for full elite, but for an advanced clan mech, it handles like the worst IS garbage mech you could find.

Eh, so what you are saying is it plays like an Atlas? pfft, surprise Atlas is best Atlas. You arent some invincible war god in an Atlas, it uses huge firepower and surprise/fear/field presence to make advantage. Sounds like DW is the same.
I am sure though after a while once some data has been lumped up, a hit box review will happen. I think the guys in charge of hit box review have been really busy what with clan mechs in design for how long. It is my greatest hope they are now free to return to what they were working on at christmas time with the box reviews.
I never said I expected it to be invincible. If it's supposed to be a glass cannon, that's fine. But glass cannons can usually aim at their target. This is more like welding a cannon in place and hoping something stops in front of it long enough to pull the trigger a few times.

I've noticed a few things about the Daishi. Everything I shoot at either dies or runs. In the matches I have survived our team has won. In the matches I have died we lost.
In one match I noticed one Daishi pilot from the very beginning of the match walk off all on his own in an off direction from everyone else on Alpine, and then claim at the end of the match that his lance abandoned him. So I didn't really feel bad for him either.
I'm hyper sensitive to where my squad is while I pilot a Dire Wolf. I've noticed that I look down ever 3 - 5 seconds to see where everyone is. I'm constantly paranoid about being alone in it. Even in a group, I'm constantly whining into TS "DON'T LEAVE ME BEHIND!". At one point my friend was in a raven, walking backwards with his back to mine, and was STILL outrunning me on accident.
It was a mix of comical and pathetic.
