These tears are tears of joy. Now my unit can drop as a team without bothering with sync drops.
"If you encourage group play they will come!" <--- Kevin Costner I think.
Seriously PGI, you're on a role. All good coming from Canada these days!

if you ask me, no groups at all should be placed in PUG matches.
So what are my options? Play in the competitive, meta-dominated group environment that I hate, or drop only solo? Us casual players can't play in groups anymore?
PUGs group too. I'm a casual PUGger who runs in small groups. Are groups only for trytards and trytard wannabes now?
If the game no longer has a place for me, then I guess I might no longer have a place for this game.

Since the name of the queue is "Solo Public Queue" I'm going to assume that Solo players go there, instead of filling into the other queue. Otherwise, there's no POINT to having a "solo public queue" since EVERYONE is in the same queue.
Ok, fine. I have no clue why we spend so much time coddling the "Solo" part of the player base, but whatever. I will be making sure to at least drop with one buddy to ever avoid being in the "foreveralone public queue" because I already know what the matches will look like.

This is encouraging group play of 5-10. It is also DIScouraging group play of 2-4, at least if you dare to find fun in this game by playing something (*gasp*) non-meta.

Yeah..I rarely drop solo these days...usually because I'm the "fifth" who jumped online.
I'm looking forward to beers and group play with 4-10 buddies at a time while we slowly filter in for our evening scheduled 12-mans.

I had to reread that a few times.
Looking forward to the changes!

Wait...playing with friends is now Meta? I feel like "meta" is your version of "pornography."
"You'll know it when you see it!" And you seem to see it everywhere

Not every group is competitive and meta-dominated. And I think a lot of groups that are, would be less meta-dominated if the meta were tuned down (which it will be in this patch).

4. As someone already said, if you got steamrolled - big deal. Shake off the dust and move on, it's just one round, no big deal.
2: They ask for feedback early for a reason, so they can get peoples initial thoughts early and can consider them going in to the test. I'm giving my best guess as to the negative potential that I see. Only complaining after it's live makes it harder to fix. Plus, if it all works out well, fine. I have no problems with being wrong and admitting it later. I was one of the people who was bitching big time about 3PV, and I was happy to be proven wrong about it.
4: One match, fine. But when my ELO means fully a quarter (rough estimate) of my matches are made non-enjoyable by forced interaction with people I find repugnant, it's a problem. And if that percentage grows...?

Sounds like it, yeah. Hence me favoring the 4-8 and 12's queue idea.

That's the problem, PGI seems to be lumping every group together, as if every group was the same. There are those of us who group, but don't like competitive play. We're being forced into the competitive dominated group queue. This is a problem.

Not every group, but group play and the group queue is very much dominated by the competitive community. And no matter what balance you do, meta will always exist and it will always be boring and dominated by very serious, dissagreeable people. I just want them to be able to play the way they want with their friends, while I play the way I want with my friends, and have us not interact at all. Is that too much to ask?

It doesn't in by lance, it fills them by team. So, that 3-man could either be in a game with 9 solo players, or it could be in a game with a variety of groups (9/3, 6/3/3, 3/4/5, etc).
Edit: I see what you mean about the lances being split up....
Hopefully they'll allow the lances to expand past the 4-person limit.
Ie., let Alpha be 5 players, Beta 4 and Charlie 3, etc.
The way it works currently is that it will automatically shuffle a couple of people into a different lance than their premade. It happens, but it's pretty rare because it requires very specific premade team composition.
