Nice data
Not really surprised by the abundance of DW and TW, those have always been the most popular two clanners. And they are new and shiny. So that helps to explain the tonnage imbalance.
While this shows some info on the effectiveness of the different mechs, we can't pretend that it shows if the new clan mechs are OP compared to the IS mechs. In order to see that, you would need to be able to follow individual players in both IS and Clan mechs of similar builds/weights. Then you would be able to see if the clan mechs are providing an advantage of the IS or not.
The increased damage and kills could be attributed to the stream weapons on clan mechs, and could just as easily be that some "better" players are running them right now. Its hard to say without tracking it by players running both.
Not saying that that is what you are trying to prove, but some have pointed to this thread as proof of that.
I can only provide anecdotal info at this time as well. (too new) I've only run my Clanners 1-3 times each and only in stock configs with the exception of turning my Kit Fox Prime into a stock C config (or as close as the pod allow us at this time). I have been running about 50% IS stock mechs during this time as well. So far, I've been doing better in my IS mechs. maybe its because I'm more familiar with them and just need to adjust to the Clan tech, And maybe running a clan mech right now puts a larger target on you. Whatever the reasons, it is my observation.
It's been my experience too. I always thought that the results would be fairly close, as my gut feeling when playing test and the first few days that things were remarkably well balanced.
The data does show some advantages for clan mechs, but my own mech was a Clan machine, and my results would have had some impact on the overall counts.
I think the biggest contributing factor is that the Clan representation is towards the fat end of the tonnage scale - mainly due to the plague of TimberWolves strutting their stuff.
I'm currently running IS to counter balance, and some very helpful chaps have sent me some of their own data. I hope to balance the above stats with some IS tomfoolery soon. My gut feeling is that things will even out more than they are now.
