It would also break any sense of player progression if CSJ has captured most of the DC and then all of a sudden it just disappears in 3060...sorry if that happened I would be out. Though I doubt this game will go on for 10 years. It would need a new engine and a graphical update.

This is a really interesting topic though. Covers more then just Clan Smoke Jaguar. From the recent dev blog it seems their solution to many of the issues is letting players compete only over worlds that are not tied up in the existing canon time-line. Meaning what you do does not _really_ affect the overall outcome, but will give bonuses etc for the battles you will fight.

Personally I am a bit hesitant to "replaying the past" so to speak. At least when done as a competitive multiplayer deal. For a single player campaign such things are al-right, because you more or less just get an interactive story. In a competitive multiplayer game however, one sort of expects ones victories to mean something. Tricky balancing act there. I am sure Devs are having fun working on that ^^

That aside, as for Clan Smoke jaguar I also doubt this will last 10 full years and still going strong, so it may be a non issue. If it does get to that point I guess they have options of either changing history so to speak, remove the faction (******* off quitea few players I imagine) or producing some option to fight as remnant forces over less significant worlds (which seems to be what _all_ player fights will be from the get go anyhow). Last option seems to be the one that takes the least amount of effort and still basically allows the core game mechanics to continue unchanged for the Smoke Jaguar players.

I'm sure if you told us which .dll (and possibly, for which version you're trying to run), some kind soul would upload it for you.

MTX, although I got both.
I'd probably better ask @ Mektek fora.

Sorry if im coming into this discussion way late, but I wholeheartedly agree. To reject any sort of fan base would easily kill interest for the game if it goes down the "faction killer" route (first with Bulldog/Serpent, then later with Wars of Reaving that proves my point that Bulldog/Serpent starts a slippery precedent for the storyline/game). At any rate, assuming this game DOES last 10 years at that there needs to be a way for players to still assume the role as the Jaguars (even if its as mere raiding parties/groups in the periphery post Bulldog/Serpent). To simply say to ANY fan base "opps factions dead time for you to quit the game" would just be the wrong way to go about it and would spell the end of this game quite easily if it ever hopes to be a success in the mainstream.

Its one of the main reasons why World of Warcraft is such a success. Say what you will about it but at least in WoW you can have the option to play as almost any race/faction you wish without having to worry about factions disappearing in the blink of an eye and suddenly people are forced out. (The High Elves/Blood Elves are a perfect example of Blizzard allowing diversity in its community. Storyline wise High Elves nearly got wiped out in the Third War but the vast majority of its survivors - 90% - became Blood Elves and eventually left the Alliance to join the Horde, thereby continuing their story rather than being wiped out to the last man/woman and thus killing off an option for players to choose from.) To put it in a business perspective, killing options (factions to choose from) means killing incentives for players to play how they want to play thereby meaning less people buying into the game. Should Jaguar fans be kicked out of MWO simply because a story thats as biased as Twilight of the Clans Jaguars be allowed to dictate who gets to play MWO or not?

Simply put, Its why BattleTech has been out of the mainstream for so long because it just simply REFUSES to cater to casuals/funloving type of gamers out there. Personally I think MWO should be careful how it plays out events cause it can really determine how many people will truly take an interest in BattleTech as a whole at this point (as if BattleTech wasn't desperate enough for new blood as it is :D....oh wait....LETS KILL OFF MORE FACTIONS FOR PEOPLE TO CHOOSE FROM! THAT WILL SURELY GENERATE INTEREST IN BATTLETECH WON'T IT? ).

I am sorry to our brothers in +SJr+ but every time I see your sig I go "awwwww that is cute" purely because it looks like SJunior to me. Oh by the way what unit is it that you guys fashion yourselves after?

Also I was not on vacation, it was as Marauder3d surmised, a lovely combination of work, writing, and a new lady friend has stolen me away from forums. But now that work is manageable and the holidays are dying down you can expect to see me on more often stirring up the pot and directing all Honor to the cause of the Jaguar!

Firenova...*disappoint look*...you know that I was not arguing for casual things...just that the Jaguar's be let to continue in anyway the player base seems fit.

I know Amarus. I was just trying to point out the fact that it would be stupid and pointless to reject ANY fanbase (whether it be CSJ or not) from a game simply based on a poorly written storyline plot aka Twilight of the Clans Jaguars. That and it would just set a precedent for killing off more factions (Wars of Reaving) hence less people will be involved in BattleTech/MechWarrior due to the lack of freedom of choice that will be forced upon people. Besides, sooner or later the old has to be replaced with the new sometime. If you ask me BattleTech/MechWarrior has reached a fork in the road: Cling to the past (elitism/rejection of fanbases/aka faction killer route) or adapt to modern times (casual/freedom to choose factions/funloving gamers). Simple as that.
