This is a really interesting topic though. Covers more then just Clan Smoke Jaguar. From the recent dev blog it seems their solution to many of the issues is letting players compete only over worlds that are not tied up in the existing canon time-line. Meaning what you do does not _really_ affect the overall outcome, but will give bonuses etc for the battles you will fight.
Personally I am a bit hesitant to "replaying the past" so to speak. At least when done as a competitive multiplayer deal. For a single player campaign such things are al-right, because you more or less just get an interactive story. In a competitive multiplayer game however, one sort of expects ones victories to mean something. Tricky balancing act there. I am sure Devs are having fun working on that ^^
That aside, as for Clan Smoke jaguar I also doubt this will last 10 full years and still going strong, so it may be a non issue. If it does get to that point I guess they have options of either changing history so to speak, remove the faction (******* off quitea few players I imagine) or producing some option to fight as remnant forces over less significant worlds (which seems to be what _all_ player fights will be from the get go anyhow). Last option seems to be the one that takes the least amount of effort and still basically allows the core game mechanics to continue unchanged for the Smoke Jaguar players.
