Can't wait to join your ranks when MWO launches.

So, how do you guys handle the Trial of Position? Is it just a 1 on 1? Or do you guys do 1 vs however many one at a time?

That vid, which 'Mechs are used?
The first uses... Mad Cat Mk II?
The second trial has two Timber Wolves, from what I can see.
Third appears to be Bushwacker vs. Shadow Cat?

Can't really call it a good test of skills, since fighting against different weight classes tests different skills.
Especially if you have to fight all three of them with no repairs/reloads in between.

It's a one on one combat with no factors that will benefit/hamper the cadet aside from his own ability. By matching them against equal assets in terms of weights, it is up to the player to make the decision of which unit he believes himself best in, and play to its strengths. By winning 2 of 3 fights against fellow clan members, he proves he is currently on par with our average level of player, and as such, gains entry to the unit as a warrior.

If you think it so unskilled, your more than willing to come and give it a shot, I can guarantee you that you may end up questioning your own status as a warrior after the trial is concluded.

Sure, lemme figure out how multiplayer works in MW4:Mercs.
Oh wait, MW4Mercs doesn't have any Ishiyama maps. >_>

I will say that my fight against Mad3D was super close, I was a second or two of machinegun fire away from death.

I can't wait to try out for CSJ. But beating two mechs in a row sounds like a challenge.

The 'Mechs used in that trial were:

Assault vs Assault
Madcat MKII vs Madcat MKII

Heavy vs Heavy
Timberwolf vs Timberwolf

Medium vs Medium
Shadowcat vs Bushwacker

In terms of skillsets used, it is somewhat open to interpretation. Doing the canon trial format would, (in my opinion) greatly encourage people to pick the strongest Clan Heavy they could get their hands on, go for a fast kill on the Medium (effectively winning the first of three by default), then putting all their energy into winning against the other Heavy, thus gaining Warrior status without worrying about the Assault fight.

Doing the Trial as 3 individual fights removes the overbearing firepower advantage of the first fight (the free win), makes all 3 fights relatively balanced (the second fight), without submitting a pilot to either another free win (depending on Assault chosen) or a humiliating defeat (through attrition of armour points during the other rounds).

------
As for the fellow looking for a MWLL download link - www.mwlldownload.com

1. Click on the pulldown tab SELECT DOWNLOAD OPTION
2. select 0.5.0 Crysis Wars installer via Direct Download
3. The autodownloader will do the rest.

This will install the autodownloader which will download and install the mod for you (somewhat like MTX from MekTek). NOTE - you NEED Crysis Wars (the fps game from Crytek) to play this mod.

Mmmm. Jaguar stuff.
Maybe a listing of bloodnames relevant to the Smoke jaguar lines could go well being edited into those first few posts? I know there were some decent links around the web somewhere. Anyone have them handy? Otherwise I will just do some digging once I get back from work.

Aff.

Added the Bloodnames to the post containing the Ebon Jaguar pictures on the first page.
Please note that not all Bloodnames are exclusive.
Corral, is a Bloodname of both Clan Mongoose and Clan Smoke Jaguar, although we have since rectified that problem.
It is also possible that not all names listed are currently in use.

MechLivinglegends.net

The way the SJ do it is a very good idea, as The Ghost Bears follow the path that is set down by Keresnky and I will be honest you see a lot of people get two or three kills. Often enough it is still only 1 kill, but we have had a few get three kills.

There is no clan yet.
So until at least the closed beta, canon it is.
If the beta indicates that it cannot be done as per canon, then we'll see to your suggestion.

Surely there is a clan, where a Jaguar heart beats, there is the clan. All of us in our spirit and in deed are Clan Smoke Jaguar warriors. None may deny us that right which we have fought and bleed for, except by honorable combat.

Also just a question but why would a Jaguar wear a sig that praises his/her enemy?

To say there is no 'clan, as in an in game clan' is silly we are right here.

Trust me I argue for canon all the time but some things have worked out better than others, Maus argues our experience.

Also she is correct about the Huntsman it is a Nova Cat design, but we claimed it early on.

My favourite factions are:
Hitotsu: Tamajiri Hyatawaseru Teisei (my own fanon faction, faction banner pending).
Futatsu: Draconis Combine.
Mittsu: Clan Smoke Jaguar.

Or in other words: I am only a Jaguar when the other two are unavailable.
And the primary will be unavailable most of the time, so I default to the Draconis Combine most of the time.

The words of one with loyalties so loose as yours are respectfully questionable. Our galaxy acts as it does because it is the will of its leaders and the pride of its warriors that make it so. Other clans are renowned for their different procedures for their trials of position, ours is merely the superior option.

/rp off ^_^
