Kit Fox: Highly reccomend it, obviously not the same playstyle as a 150+ KPH fast attacker but an excellent support mech and the Clan XL makes it almost as survivable as an IS Standard engine. Some fun loadouts, lots of variety, and an ECM. Great way to support your team.

MC price is high but the C-bill cost won't be too bad when compared to buying an IS mech plus upgrades/equipment, although you'll still have to pay a fair amount for new equipment (like the Kit Fox C right arm + ECM)

That even tops the TT (see sarna.net) values. A good way to boost clan pack sales, but an obvious one.

And here we were worried the Clan mechs would cost as much as what Sarna says, how we long for those days now

It seems pretty even to me. According to smurfy an upgraded Spider costs about 4.4 million with nothing but the upgrades and armor equipped. Buying three of those and the biggest XL you can fit (another 4 million, but it is shared between all 3 mechs) puts the total costs for that chassis at around 16 million. Buying three Kit Fox will run you about 18 million. The 2 million difference probably works itself out between the bigger weapons on the Kit Fox and the omni pods.

For the time being omnipods are restricted to Clans. So we are planning on getting IS Omnis?

You can take the big engine out of the spider and use it when you grind the next month's mech release.

Can't do that with clans. Gotta spend the big million premium space dollar tax if you want to grind them. This is all about the cost for a light, by the way.,

The mechs people want are the heavies and assaults, which have huge XL engines.

Firts, Mr.Bullock, thank you for the info..

But, as you know, following you numbers "the clever ones here" will come out with a full Clan Mechs price-list very soon.. I'm really sure, you don't figured out this numbers just last weekend,.. you alredy had the list since long ago.. So why don't you put simply the WHOLE PRICE-LIST out now, since it has no sence to hide it anymore... Would be much easier for both side.. And we could know exactly, how many farmwork we need to do, till november..

No it means they haven't released any Clan mechs that have a fixed standard engine yet.

It means we're getting more clan mechs soon, and some of them might have standard engines.

When I say soon, I mean more clan mechs announced after the summer, and you got it, CW will have to wait because we need as many clan mechs as IS ones first... or some similar "reason" like that.

No, it means all of the Clan mechs in the game today all have XL engines. I don't understand how you can get, "we'll be able to change engines in clan mechs" out of that statement.

nice breakdown, but one question:
  • 30 ton chassis:
    • 579,517 C-Bills
Where does this came from? is this an arbitrary number or is this a TT value? Are the numbers known for the rest of the weight classes?

The value can be roughly calculated from the TT rules. My own calculation came out to 560,950 so apparently the math is slightly different for MWO... It includes the price of the cockpit, life support, sensors, musculature, internal structure, and actuators. There's also a final multiplier based on tonnage, and the gyro cost from TT appears to be excluded.

For comparison, the chassis cost of a 100 ton mech would be roughly 1.7 million... maybe? The omni pods will be very pricey, though.

You can find the pricing information on page 128 of the Battletech Compendium (there's a PDF online, Google it).

Kit Fox: actually the only Clan ECM mech.
97 kmh speed - as the standard ECM Raven.
If you have to try a clan mech: this is the one.

The Adder has nothing better, same speed, only 5 tons more, but no ECM.

All the Adder has going for it is a few more points of maximum armor. For once, 35 tons is not light 'Mech master race.

In any case, you'd think that thanks to the thorough nerf job, Clan pricing would be more in line with IS pricing here. After all, Clanners are supposed to perform only slightly better than IS 'Mechs at best- which should mean their gear costs only slightly more as well. A Kit Fox should compare to a tricked-out Firestarter or Jenner.

It's funny that properly upgraded IS mechs actually end up costing more in a lot of cases.

I agree that the most painful part is paying 3 x for 3 x 375 XL engine when you actually only need one. but have to have 3 to reach elite.

That's why I see all these Kit Foxes running around and not Timberwolves, since it's the clan mech to try.

Because we totally buy XL engines for all our variants of IS mechs, and of course pods that we can't even use.

Honestly, If the xl was not chassis locked that would be nice. However since it is locked with all clan mechs that should be taken into account. After all it isn't like we could rip it out and put a bigger or smaller one in. is it.

Other than that one point. I figured they would be more pricey. Thanks for the info.

i think this is the big problem you are paying full price for the engine, but unlike IS mechs you can not swap and sell the engines. clan should get an engine discount since it non swapable. also as has been mentioned an omni pod discount for buying the chassis would make sense as well.

of course a better option would be to drop the 3 variant requirements for xp grind. this make even less sense with clans since the majority of them are the exact same anyway. when is that skill system over haul going to happen? soon™?

IS Omni mechs would be inferior Clan Omni and standard IS mechs mainly because of the IS XL engine. They would have locked speed and could be killed by losing 1 side torso. Even if they could equip Clan weapons, that would not be enough to counter act their downside.

Clan Mechs. Are you thinking to buy one?

30 ton Kit Fox: the only Clan ECM Mech, 97 kmh, can equip jj in variant KFX-S
35 ton Adder: 97 kmh. Some more armor or bigger guns
50 ton Mova. Can carry 12 energy weapons or 6 energy weapons + 4 MGs, 81 kmh, jj in all wariants (can't be stripped)
55 ton StormCrow. The Prime version can carry 6 energy weapons, 97 kmh
70 ton Summoner, 81 kmh, jj in all variants (can't be stripped)
75 ton Timber Wolf, 81 kmh, can equip jj in variant TBR-S
85 ton Warhawk, 64 kmh
100 ton Direwolf, 48 kmh, devastating ballistic-energy combination

Seriously. The prices are reasonable. Yes, you can't share an engine around - I'm unsurprised we don't get a discount rate on the engines for that, but really... Clan mechs pay a flat-rate for XL engines unlike tabletop so the big mechs won't be absurdly expensive, and as it stands the light mechs are actually cheaper than IS mechs once upgraded.

Sure, you can run budget clan builds the same way. Boo hoo. And yes, IS mechs - particularly the heavies and assaults - can run much cheaper standard engines... That weigh vastly more.

PGI isn't being the pocket gouging devil here, lads. The prices are entirely reasonable compared to the IS mechs and current pricing in the game.

There's nothing to cry about here.
