Well, personally I'm hardly seen any roflstomps in the solo queue. It's actually a blast to play.

There is no real way to prevent a stomp when you have one side that is a large group.

warning, incoming wall of text

I get what you're saying there guys but I play mostly with 1-2 people - and just like you and your group don't like playing with Pugs apparently, we pretty much are hating the 8-10 man groups right now. I am speaking for at least several people here:

There is zero chance to test your skill as a 2 man group when your team has a 10 man that carries the match, or the enemy team is a 12 that just steamrolls and the match is done in 2 minutes. As a small group player ( <4 people usually) this is the new norm because almost every match we get into has 8+ players, and our group tacked on as filler.

It's not even like we're mad cause we're losing, cause we're not losing all the time. It's about 50/50 which is great. And before the LTP comes out, we're all quite good players, the problem is we barely even get to fight when every match is a wash.

"Follow us, we're a [8-10] man" has become the worst possible thing you can read at the start of a match.

I fully accept playing with big groups if I find myself in the rare occasion to be playing with more than 4 people. That is fine.

I do not like being forced to sit in with some clan just because it's the only way I can play with my brother or my other few friends who play. I don't even If we wanted to join a clan, or a community we would have done so but frankly that's not my idea of a good time nor are any of the friends I play with particularly stoked on it

I enjoyed the randomness of old group-pug queue matches, even the occasional stomp was fine. At least there was a decent chance of a good battle and some epicness.

I need good fights and I enjoy testing my skills up against other players and frankly the group queue, for small groups, is the opposite of all that. The satisfaction from a good close battle even if you lose can be great and honestly right now the PUG queue is the only place to find that. Problem is it is now a choice:

- Play with your friend and deal with the low quality of matches
- Play solo, and have fun

I would love the option for 2 man groups to be allowed in the solo queue and opt out of large group matches.

This post is pretty much spot on. The two man I normally run....myself and my rl buddy elkabong31000...is almost always tracked onto a 10 man. We still win alot, but for the most part is far less fun. We're at the mercy of the 10 man we're stuck with. I've been dropping in large groups with some regulars, and while I enjoy that, it's not the same thing to me.

I don't know that there's a good solution. We've been solo sync dropping, and that is it's own brand of fun...we end up on opposite teams a lot since we're both fairly high elo in our Jenners.

Agreed.

You win some and lose some. That is what playing is all about. But the difference in dropping solo versus small group is really daunting. It sucks all the fun out of it. Stick small groups with small groups and give them the option to drop with the large groups for a faster join time. I'd rather have a more even match and wait a bit.

I get some perverse pleasure listening to the group queue players complaining that they want back into the solo queue. Some people just love being the big fish in the small pond.

It has nothing to do with that at all and that comment shows a clear lack of understanding.

If 4 man steamrolling was what we wanted, (it isn't, if you bother to read), and we were just complaining that we couldn't roll PUGs anymore, then why would we be complaining about winning steamroll matches in the group queue?

Quality of matches is LOW in the large group queue. It is boring as hell.

In the PUG queue of old, most of the matches were close or at least good battles, even if we had a 4 man. Now you are merely an onlooker, if your 10 man fails, you fail, if they steam roll, you will, but either way it's boring as sh*t.

It's not that the matches in the group queue are more difficult, or anything. The dynamic of these matches is just so boring and one sided, win or lose, and very tiresome. As much as some people may understand, skill level does not go up with group size.

I could care less to drop in the solo queue in a small group. I'd much rather have a balanced match and a fair fight and battle like sized groups.

People complain because it was never about being a big fish in a small pond. A lot of people just wanted to be able to play with their friends and have some fun. Very few were interested in competitive strategies and winning at all costs, much like some solo players such as myself would rather play with and against the groups. The solution that the devs have come up with has been inadequate for a lot of the parties involved.

The problem Jman, is I went from an average fish to a microbe.

Idk... are you the type of player that's okay getting steam rolled nearly every match? Was this group drop implemented just a couple weeks ago? I'm thinking we've done two Wednesday nights of it now... Eh, either way I believe my buddies and I might've won a total of four matches in roughly four hours. The losses have all been pretty one sided and the wins have been damned close. I also think one of those wins we had was in large part due to the other team having a DC.

All we ever wanted was to be able to play as a larger group of six or seven of us tops. As many have said the rare stomp due to fighting a coordinated clan or even a good team in general was fine as it wasn't the norm. Now it is.

I agree except it's not even that we're losing, or that losing would bothers us, or how big of a fish we are. I'll lose a good match happily just as much as I'll like to win a good match. We were having some of the best matches ever before the large groups were implemented.

It's the quality of matches, and the large groups do not deliver. A landslide victory is just as boring and disappointing as a landslide loss. And when you get a large group, this IS the outcome. We are honestly on the verge of just dropping out of matches when large groups come into play.

I don't want to play in the solo queue. I want a small group queue away from solo rambos and E-sport Trolls. solo/lance opt in queue is what I want... as it USED to be.

You're either misrepresenting or misunderstanding what's being said if that's what you truly think. Surely you can understand the difference between 2man groups and 4+ right?

I didn't say it, but I meant that. That's why I emphasize steam rolls/one sidedness/stomps. The difference between you and I though, is that we aren't stomping now... And really the group I play with has never been accustomed to it. Sure, we've had a few matches really go our way, but because they are so rare we enjoyed them. Because the very next match wouldn't be that way. Our matches are beyond boring - they're frustrating.

I could certainly handle close losing matches as well. Now, I wouldn't want to lose nine out of ten, that would still get on my nerves. But to win three or four outta ten, I don't think that would bother me.

I'd go as far as 2-man groups, 4+ casuals to 4+ tryhard/clans. Wouldn't bother me a bit to PuG playing a 4+ casual group.

A 2 person group is still a big fish in a pond of solos. Any group of more than one will yield an advantage due to communication. It's not as big, sure, but it's still there.

I can say im very happy to have solo/pug/casual MM only this should have been done 3 years ago many tried to get PGI to listen to reason back then. Now it is dawning on PGI how important solo and group play was to MechWarrior. It was also suggested 3 years ago for PGI to build a lobby/launcher/live chat system for group play they have built about 20% of what was truly needed for group play.1v1-12v12 matches and leagues were a huge part of PC MechWarrior and PGI is still lagging behind on the social and competitive aspects of MWO.

But like I have posted before I still have faith Russ and PGI can turn this game around so all players and fans can be happy with the total game and meta.

In a game where teamwork wins, teams should be the norm. Groups should be beaten mercilessly, and individuals should stand out or die ignobly.

No it is not. That's 1/6th of the possible chance of succeeding. If the other 5/6ths screw up, you can do nothing to win. That's bee obvious since I started playing the game. To say that 2 people are that much more powerful than 10 other guys alone just doesn't bear out after months of playing this game solo and in groups. Yes TS and other voice comes are a force multiplier, but they are not a 'big fish'. A full lance, yes. A full lance can carry you at times if the other side also doesn't have a 'big fish'.

Seeing how you're teamed with 11 others vs. 12 others... Yeah. It IS the norm.
