Absolutely yes to FF with no reduction. If you shoot your teammates wether intentional or not, your CBills will cover the expenses.

For those who run themselves down to zero CBills to try to avoid punishment for griefing, they should be forced to pick wich of their mechs they are going to sell to make the money to cover their fees.

This way brings realism to the battlefield, with built-in measures to deal with griefers.

I would say, take it out of their account to pay for repairs. If they don't have enough. The bank picks up the difference and until they pay the bank off, half of everything they earn is paid towards the bank debt which accrues interest at a predetermined rate.

How it works in WoT (and I hope they do the same thing, but increase the penilty for blatent TK'rs/griefers) is you get compensation credits (C-bills) for the damage that was done to you to off-set the repair bill and they recieve a reduction in the XP earned that fight. (you receive XP for damage/potential damage done)

Let's face it, accidents happen especially when one of your buddies that map are being surrounded and the only thing you can do is fire into the melee to kill the other guy. SOmetimes you have to damage your own guy rather than let him die alone or damage him to do more damage to the enemy.

Or even worse, the arch-enemy of FPS happens...LAG.

Agreed, FF=ON seems to make for less spamming and more aiming. Something that is important in a game such as this. I wonder though if they have implemented a system like in WOT which seems to dumb the FF down and reward the receiver with income and xp in proportion to damage taken?

The insanity of ruining the game to stop griefers means the griefers already win. If there's no FF on I will be cancelling my founders pack as I paid for Mechwarrior and absent FF it's not mechwarrior. I played WoT for a long time and griefing was never an issue for me or anyone I played with. WoT taught me that the tiny amount of griefing was worth it to have an environment where one had to actually be wary of where one shoots. Don't let a few peoples fears ruin things for everyone.

You gotta be kidding me. This 'system' is more often abused than not. We can completely solve it by not giving griefers the means to operate. And you would have us report these drama queens and bear the burden of proof like good sheep? No way. They want attention and you feed them. They are trolls in disguise and there are not enough Arrow IV incendiary warheads in the entire Inner Sphere to burn them all. Just cut off their balls and be done with it, saves us so much trouble.

I agree but you know there will be several griefers out there that will make an account and do this. There just isn't a way to control this. That was what made MPBT Great. There were almost no greifers, (leggers, headers) out there. If you did it and didn't eject you were black balled from the game and no one would play with you.

In MPBT you could always leg or head and get an easy win, but people didn't do it because it wasn't honourable. How many games can say that 95% or more of the community didn't take the easy way out and fought with honour?

I hope this community is more like MPBT then CoD.

I'm still trying to understand why legging is not honorable. It was and always been considered honorable according to BT, especially the novels. Also, in TT campaignes where you could perma-death a pilot.

I see it as viable tactic if I'm in a light mech, and your in an Assault. Why would I aim at your torso, that just makes you stupid and most likely dead. ...I guess shooting another Mech in the rear where there is less armor is also dishonorable.

The only time honor should come into play is if you are dueling and in same weight class...even then I might question it.

I think their should be FF. Personally I think that 50% damage for FF is fine, although 100% is ok as well. The price in c-bills should be fairly decent, roughly the cost of repairs (as people have said) seems pretty resonable.

this wont matter when anyone can make a new account in 10 seconds

actually, none of these suggestions will work. take money from their bank? they'll make a new account too.

basically the community and devs will need to decide if they want to just deal with the chance that people join just to ruin the game, or if they want to dumb it down for everybody to prevent this.

i would personally prefer the first option, just let us deal with it. if some ***** starts unloading at the spawn i would guess everyone else would quickly blow him up anyway.

what they need is a 'X is friendly firing' notice, so that everyone can quickly see if something weird is going on and respond to it.

To throw in my two cents, I like the concept of friendly fire. It's more realistic. I am on the fence about whether or not xp/cbill penalties should be applied to friendly fire though.

Yeah, no doubt about it friendly fire all the way.

But what about unintentional FF? Say **** happens then what? You going to be punished for something you didn't intend or want. In combat and in all that chaos things like that happen quite often.

Example I'm piloting Atlas and I'm firing at another assault mech heavy firepower is exchanged between us then suddenly a friendly Jenner crosses my beam of fire and blows up right in front of me. What then?

I agree that FF should be on HOWEVER to many people dont bother looking around them or the mini map and tend to wander infront of a friendly while or just as they are fireing there weapons.

I launch my rack of LRMs and they take time to get to the target and a light mech gos blistering by the target as my LRMs get to the target who at fault....I launch my attack before he got there and he did not know I had launched....oka there is the chat..we all know chat is ignored mostly when the fighting is hot and heavy or you miss things in chat at the very least.

It is a catch 22 yes we have to have it in the game....but how do you punish the bad ones without punishing the truly by chance times it dos happen........maby a vote by team members as to whos at fault

i forget which game it is, but there was a system where if someone is the victim, they are given the option of forgiving or not forgiving the transgressor. that could work.

in combination with a global notice whenever someone has friendly fired, then people can determine if it was just a bad situation, or intentional

Should have a votekick option to remove a griefer.

I'm all for Friendly fire as long as players to do it intentionally and frequently get punished.

I got an answer for that one: allow people to decide individually whether they want to deal and receive friendly fire. If the griefers run rampant and everybody has FF turned off, they are effectively wasting their time achieving nothing. Once they vanish, we can switch back and play an honest game. Just give us the option and we're good. It's really that easy.

Plenty of ways to be a griefer without FF being turned on.

But with FF off, there's no way to deal with them.

I've played a LOT of WoT, and the simple truth is, TKing gets a lot of press on the forums but it really just doesn't happen that often. I'd say about 1/2 of 1% of games do I witness a TK on either side.

I personally have been TKed/attempted TKed maybe 5 or 6 times in 8000+ games.

Its not really a problem.

FF on imo, and they should include an automatic ban hammer for intentional tking.
