hey i like the urbanmech, great city defense mech, especially with jumpjets. outside that, useless. again unless you remove the ac, upgrade the engine for more speed. and add some energy weapons. however with the game going with specific hardpoints. you cant do that.

I like the design.. but I've never been a fan of smaller mechs.

Although, I am a HUGE fan of the Shadowcat.

I'm a fan... Provisionally plan to swap out the ac20 for an ac10 for range, and add a couple of extra medium lasers

I guess it's nice to see I'm not crazy. Somewhat telling that the only way it seems to be truely effective (outside of the city) is to remove it's signature weapon.

I've always had a soft spot for it. Then I saw the Hunchback IIc and fell in love. Sure they fill a specific niche, and the IIc is pretty much a walking ammo dump waiting to explode, but what a glorious explosion it can cause.

It's not my favorite, but is one of them. I like the tough look of that chassis, kinda reminds me of a short "Napoleon syndrome" kind of guy who lifts weights to compensate for being short, in this case an over sized weapon on a medium 'mech. I would have preferred a Centurion for my founder's medium 'mech, hopefully they'll let me trade sometime later.

The Hunchback is iconic. I love that it exists, and I hope to see a lot of them out on the field, but I will never pilot one personally.

Even in the Mechcommander Intro movie, Raven > Hunchback.

If you've got a good team with you then the hunchie will be devestating. If you can use terrain to cover your advance then Hunchie can break a heavy or assault mech.

Nope.

(Good team + good mech) > (Good team + Hunchback)

There are more than enough heavies/assaults that have a AC20 and the same same speed, while having more armor and more other weapons.

There isn't a 'Mech that I dislike. A team of inferior 'Mechs can easily win with their superior pilots.

When I thought I would only be able to get Elite I was planning on either getting the Cat or the Hunchback.

I am a hunchback fan, because in the right hands it is a massively deadly tool.

Hunch is probably my favorite mech. I know a lot of peeps will gladly disagreee, but that is why they have 13 mechs lined up for release right now. I will most likely modify it to give it some long range abilities unless there is a large city fighting set of maps though. Will always have my Atlas for backup as well. :)

It's an all or nothing design approach and I can appreciate that. Of course there's always the Swayback for the more generalist approach.

I don't hate it as much as the Jenner. I'm talking mainly about the look of it. The Jenner has this stupid cockpit that juts out all by itself, ugly design. But, that is my personal opinion. :)

Two words... mech lab.

Subtract 3 HS, subtract small laser
Swap AC-20 with Gauss Rifle with 24 shots, add ECM package

Or so I hope. :)

Come join the Clans, they got all the tasty cookies *yumyum*

I'm sure everyone has or will have a favorite mech and a 'hated' mech. Me I'm equal opportunity. I believe that they all deserve an equal chance to be targeted by me.

I'd just try to put an ultra ac and turn the ac-20 into an ac-10, that way you aren't completely screwed in the long range sector. And seeing how slow this mech is, it couldn't hurt to get a couple engine upgrades if there if available tonnage (maybe drop dem medium laser).

Not so much a hated mech as a city mech when all of the videos have been in open countryside.

That or Laserboat it since there are three energy hardpoints per arm and dropping the ac20 and ammo would free up 15 tons.

I have never liked this mech. I understand why people do, don't get me wrong, I'm just not one of them.

Canon says it's a city fighter, which makes sense, because it has too many drawbacks (IMO) in any other role.

Here's how I see it: it gives up too much for that AC 20... And everyone knows it has that big gun, which makes it an instant target. Frankly, killing a hunchback is prob the most efficient way of taking enemy offensive power off the battle field. (medium mech, no closing abilty, no long range weapons, its certainly more efficiant than taking on larger mechs with AC 20s) If I'm in a mech with any long range power, hunchies are my first target.

/put on flame resistant suit

IF you can. take out the AC 20 and exchange it for something lesser to take away the whole close in fighting. Maybe replace it with LRMs or an AC 10. Personally I'd swap out the AC 20 for an LBX AC 10.
