I think the point was pretty obvious, but sense you missed it I'll stop twisting your arm so you can go read something else, sorry about that.

Yes. The point is that the pricing is a bit high. The sales are a nice way to keep them low, but even with the sale the Protector (at 50% off) is 15 dollars. For that, you can get plenty of items in other games.

Basically, the main thing is that I can get red paint in other games for 1-2$ while here it costs 7 dollars. That's all.

This is what the base cost of these mechs should be without a sale....

We know they're just gonna keep pumping out Hero mechs and that they're not anything rare or special like they were to us when they first came out. And most of them are pretty bad accept for the 30% boost.

I think it's time to revisit the pricing. When Wang and Ilya came out there were tons of them in matches. Hell, people even bought the twin Dragons and the Pretty baby when they came out and they're the worst mechs in the game.

I'm still not convinced that IV Quickdraw is even really in the game. It's like Bigfoot. Many unsubstantiated sightings and a blurry screenshot of it ducking into cover.

Had to grab something this sale... so of all things I snagged a Loup de Guerre.

Pretty fun mech overall. Mostly because of the latest SRM fixes (even though those still are a bit wonky at times). I like the decent mobility of the LdG, even though it feels like the recent JJ changes did something nasty to it as it can't seem to get places I could swear I had no problems reaching back when I still played Trebs.

It also reminded me of one of the reasons I had given up on the Treb family. That thing's too tall and broad for a 50-tonner. It towers over the Timberwolf, which seem to be most of the Heavy population now. It's a medium that's almost as big a target as a Victor.

Can we finally get a slight size reduction on the TBT?

Trying to narrow down a shopping list, but I've been playing my clans almost exclusively (still haven't elited everything yet...). Hell, I still have the plastic wrapping on my DDC that I bought on C-bill sale a couple weeks back.

Any advice on the following? Must have's or good value with a particular engine? I haven't started any of the following chassis except the Treb.

Oxide
X-5
Arrow (more of a curiosity, I've seen many and they seem to do bad)
Loup De G (my first mech was a trenchbucket and I mastered my 7M. Don't judge)
Jester
Firebrand
Dragon Slayer
Misery (kind of)

Own the following

Ember <3
Ilya--still love, but seems to be outclassed these days :'(
Huggin (mistakes were made)
Daishi pack

If you enjoy your Ember, you'll enjoy the Arrow too, it's pretty much ready to good kitted out. Decent mobilty, JJ's, Dakka Dakka Dakka, Fast torsotwisting with maxed STD Engine, could be a little faster (havn't elited it, though).
AND DAT DARN SEXY PAINTJOB OFC.

As for the others, i dunno, don't have any of them. Wondering about the Firebrand too, (high energy hardpoints), also about the Protector.. i dunno, i dunno, i dunno, may to much choices given this sale >.<!

Those poor champions. Neglected, left out...awe... Right in the feels.

Ghost heat and very hot medium lasers ruin the Hunchback build).

Negative.. this is a GREAT mech.. you just have to learn how to pilot this guy right.. alpha selectively.. and if you lock arms his pin point damage is DEVASTATING! This is a VERY effective mech!

The Hunchback 4P champion's default build?
Tell that to the Hunchback that I stopped shooting at and offered to help out because he was having trouble.
Only for, a minute or two later, him to kill himself in trying to kill me. If it lasted any longer I would have gotten out some popcorn.

The 4P is an awesome variant.
The champion build, though, is a flawed design.

Bought a Jester and an X-5 ('cuz reasons), also an Arrow.
Jester won out over the Firebrand. X-5 was almost going to be a Huginn (thank god, i checked for hardpoints/builds and the Forum beforehand).

Could not decide whether or not to buy:

-Firebrand
-Protector
-Dragon Slayer
-Heavy Metal
-Dat Trenchbucket i can't remember of even spell the name of

TO MUCH OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM, IGP!

Also, on a more serious note,

GAWD, DARN IT!
Why don't you include mechbays to hero-'mechs?!
I can somewhat understand to why you won't include them to normal- or even champion- 'mechs, but hero's too?

Even at 50%, IS-'mechs are still pretty expensive.

Clanners can get their chassis for a little over 18$, or even all the way down to 10 bucks, AND WILL GET THEIR MECHBAYS FOR FREE for EVERY Chassi they buy. Not to mention all that other crap, like premium time, warhorns, badges, cockpit items and what not.

Is it really to much to ask for a single mechbay once we throw money at you?
Why so little love for the Inner Sphere?!
'cuz we're stupid enough to buy them anyway?

Anyhow, great sale, should please almost everyone, just a little to much 'mechs at once for my taste.

As a bonus, here's a hint about how to make me throw even more money at you:
Next sale - > all camo's and colours 50% off (Don't let me down, IGP)

Ghost heat killed the "practical"/Champion build. It's better off trying to field a LL or a PPC somewhere in the build nowadays (trading off from the 3 or more med lasers [from the "stock 9"] that would have to be shaved off due to ghost heat).

Well, I caved and bought a Protector. I know it's a good investment, but I never thought of buying it until now.

Gonna need some build suggestions for it.

Build it up like a brawly atlas and go forth to woop ass: few medium lasers, ac20 and a couple of ASRM6s, let the pain floweth through all you see catch.

Just bought the YLW, Fang, and trying to work myself up into the hero Treb, Arrow, Firebrand, and Prettty Baby. I fully intend to utilize the lesser played mechs and make them work for me, no matter how challenging that may be :)

You know you can donate to charity any time right? you dont need to wait on a mech sale..

Very aware, thank you. But it would be nice if other people donated as well!

I like to think that the MWO community is a little more mature than most other online games out there. The developers did a very positive thing with the first charity donation scheme, and I would like to see it repeated. It's not like it would cost any development time, as Sarah's mech is already there. If you have it already, donate another $10 and get a cockpit item, maybe?

I used the sales opportunity to buy a set of the "founder" mechs, i.e. Catapult, Hunchback and Atlas in Champion and Hero editions. The Jenners I had already bought earlier.

In terms of fun factor, I would recommend any of the following: Oxide, Arrow, Firebrand, Protector. They each have potential for very powerful builds.

The following mechs I do not intend to buy: Dragon, Quickdraw, Cataphract, Stalker, Highlander. This is mostly personal taste as I consider these designs ugly. I would have purchased the Loup de Guerre, but with the crippling of Jump Jets this is now out of the question.
