Damage reduction, like on closed missile panels.

My prediction is that some people will start using chain fired PPCs and the least skilled players will start whining about that (or maybe boated Llas... even i have more faith in the baddies than to imagine that they'd whine about mlas boating Awesomes).

Lol START using?

Been using triple erppcs and an erlarge for ages. Too bad I have a warhawk for my ppc spam but it will be interesting to take the old 8Q for a spin again.

And here is to hoping the atlas gets +12% armor...EVERYWHERE..MUHAHAHAHAAAAAA

Centurion = 10% more armor for left arm (shield is actually a shield)
Hunchback = 10% internal Structure in Right Torso (to make the AC-20 last longer)
Awesome = 12.5% less heat from energy weapons, 10% faster heat sinks, 17% more armor for CT
Dragon = 5% faster rate of fire for Ballistics, 5% less heat from Ballistics, 10% faster torso twist

Those are all he said in the NGNG twitch stream.

50% more armor for the left arm would be a shield. 10% is meh.

That I have to agree with somewhere between 10% and 50% would be more of a shield than just a 10% boost.

I will surely dust off the Pretty Baby in the future. Only 18 Clan and a dozen or so IS Mechs left to master before I start playing for fun again...

Did Brian talk about new stuff or will we have an eternal tuning or rebalance of things we already have since always?

There will always be new shiny's. Just be happy that they're finally trying to do something about long standing problems, and be patient.

I don't know how that would be accomplished outside of actually changing the hitboxes to favor the arms instead of the side torsos... most likely I would anticipate the side torso coring would be more problematic (trying to run an XL on a 9M/PB would be more of a liability).

If you haven't noticed, they created a damage resistance system. Much like missile doors, and light's legs.
Stormcrow has a head with 15% weaker armor in exchange for the head mounted energy hardpoint.

I believe this is how they made the 17% damage resistance to the CT.

This week I'm having large problems due to the new "rejoining stuff" they made.
This is not the kind of useful stuff we need: a new feature that brings lag problems, moonwlking problems, and so on.
(I mean rejoining a match sounds good, but it took only new problems we didn't need)

17% damage resistance equates to making a fully-armored Awesome's CT nearly as durable as a fully-armored Atlas CT.

Atlas CT is 124 armor + 62 internals = 186 hitpoints.

Awesome CT is 100 armor + 50 internals = 150 hitpoints. If it gets damage reduced by 17%, that's the equivalent of having 180.7 hitpoints. As durable as a Banshee's CT.

Nice move PGI.

3x PPC alpha = 42.6 heat * .875 = 37.28 heat from a 3 PPC alpha

On a hypothetical 20 DHS awesome build you have an equivalent 34 SHS.

34*1.1 = 37.4

So not only does a 3 PPC alpha get a 5 heat reduction but an awesome with 20 DHS will get about ~3.5 more SHS worth of cooling.

Not to mention the CT bonus.

Cant wait to try it.

I mean, it's a whole Small Laser's worth of damage.

Though, it will bring the total A+S to over 51, which means it can actually survive a Dire Whale FLD monster alpha strike if it doesn't get any crits.

That might be handy, but still very insignificant.

From the NGNG twitch stream this morning, Monday July 28, Brian was on as a guest and gave out some details about the upcoming patch, even getting into specific numbers.

Some of the Inner Sphere mechs are going to get quirks like the Clan mechs already have.

In particular the biggest numbers were for the Awesomes, which "were sorely in need of something" to quote Brian.

12.5% less heat from energy weapons
10% faster heat disapation
17% less damage to hits to the Center Torso.

To sumarize, it will have 22.5% less heat, and have the Center Torso armor of a 90 ton mech.

It might be worth playing one, but we'll see.

I am glad that they didn't go with the 3 PPC before Ghost heat, as I don't want to put PPC's on a mech if I don't want to. Having heat and energy weapons in general get bonuses seems like a better plan.

Awesome news for the Awesome.

I pilot AWS 9M and 8V exclusively and glad to finally see some help being thrown it's way.

12.5% heat reduction equates to 8.75 heat for PPC and 13.125 for ERPPC.

Personally I have no Issue with a 3xPPC AWS, heat is easily manageable and possible to fire off 3 alphas before shutdown with right build and skill 2xBasics. The AWS has no issues with any other energy weapons. It's the ERPPC where it needs help, to which I suggest a 25% heat reduction to ERPPC to bring it to 11.25 heat.

Also not entirely sure 17% damage reduction is needed, on a sensible build (90 front/10 rear) that equates to 105.3 points of armour at the front (58.5 internal). I would much rather see CT hitbox made smaller, ST hitbox extend into CT and arm hitbox include the shoulder pauldron.

That said I will take these changes and with anticipation of improving my current W/L ratio of 1.0 and K/D ratio of 4 in this mech.

The changes to the heat capacity of the Awesome sound great. However, I think the extra armor is dumb. What, does it get secret ultra uber strong prototype Star League armor that is better than anything, even the Clans, possess? It's going to be silly if mechs start getting dozens of arbitrary non-canon tweaks based on which fanboy community on the forum whines the loudest (and Awesomes seem to have a particularly vocal fanbase). Meanwhile, the Victor is still a piece of junk in a brawl... despite that being its ideal canon range.

The Dragon could also need a CT armor buff... the ballistic buff is nice, but really doesn't matter with 1-3 (only 1 variant has 3) ballistic slots.
