Mech Rescale.

God. Damn. It.

I'm a big fan of the rescale, but I actually just realized I may need to re-hitbox map all the mechs.

I'll compare the classic mechs before and after, and then make a decison.

You're using the mech spawner in the Academy to check hitboxes, correct? Or still using private matches?

I have an additional test account and meet in a private lobby.

There's an alternative if you're interested. =]

Btw, if you guys want to ever test hitboxes yourselves, just take your mech into Academy. Switch it out for another mech (I usually use the Cicada) and it will put your mech back on it's own pedestal near the Ember. When you stand on the beacon in front of the mech, it will power up so you can see the paperdoll for registering hitboxes. In order to test the rear hitboxes (or any other angle), get behind your mech and give it a good couple shoves until it slides onto the beacon, which will leave it powered up. You'll have to repeat this any time you kill and respawn the mech.

Added the "Classic" mechs: Archer, Marauder, Rifleman and Warhammer. Edited Catapult.

- Archer: nothing of note
- Catapult: small change to CT/ST transition at time of side view. I don't think PGI changed it, I probably had it wrong
- Marauder: CT "whiskers" fron the front. One big hot-dog of side torso from side
- Rifleman: You can get CT hits on its "hat"
- Warhammer: The box on its left shoulder is front ST from the rear

Kodiak added. Very narrow CT, except for upper rear. Aim for the shoulders.

Does anyone else think that crotches and butts should be split 50/50 left and right leg and not torsos? I would far prefer this kind of fix over structure quirks.

The hit boxes on the King Crab could use some serious love IMO. The victor (among others) could use some work also.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I mean, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the area containing your hip actuators to somehow damage your engine when hit. If I remember correctly, that's also how older mechwarrior titles did it. I'd also like to see things like the Timber Wolf's missile pods ("ears") as separate hitboxes instead of part of one of the torsos, like they were in older titles. The same for the Bushwhacker's high-mounted missile pod, ect. as they make the CT or ST hitboxes larger than they should be.

Added the Viper. Rather large side torso hitboxes.

I'm working on a "how I do hitbox mapping" video. Hopefully will be up in a week or so.

Good point. I thought about it and forgot to map it. I've now updated the image with the 3/4 profile. The side torso is even larger as it spreads onto the sided of the "snout" fuselage.

Added the Cyclops. It gets a little busy on the front/back hips region - any fire there will likely spread over many hit boxes. The side of the "chest" is all ST, so it's very hard to hit center torso. For that aim for the head.
