Been away awhile. I keep checking the news on this game and it seems all I ever see is a sale on some premium mech. I was hoping to see medium mechs get a buff. Seems they were always caught between heavy and light mechs without the speed to out manuever heavies or the firepower to hit back.

Did I miss something or is it just the same game I left a year ago?

Same as it ever was. 55 ton mech size, being the height of a 90 tonner, without the armour or firepower.

Not all bad mechs, but not ideal.

The Ryoken is a beast.

You gotta pay money if you wanna play it though.

Medium mechs are great now. PGI finally balanced light, medium, heavy and assault mechs by making it slightly harder for heavier mechs to climb hills. So everything should be fine.

It took me a moment to spot the sarcasm.

I Wonder if mediums aren't worse then lights. They lack the speed and small size to be survivable and scouty, yet they don't have the armor or guns to slug it out... Exception might be the storm crow, it seems like it has some serious bite to it.

Yeah that's what I thought, thanks. So many things they should have done and didn't. Whatever happened to knock downs? Wasn't that supposed to happen after launch? Guess they're too busy trying to squeeze more money out of the player base.

Yeah that's pretty much the problem. Mediums are faster than "most" heavies but roughly the same size and carry less weapons. Speed tanking doesn't work well at medium size and speed. It only works at light mech size and speed.

LOL, well played.

Hill climb has actually gotten me killed in my Mediums because I couldn't escape (no JJs). Prior to hill-climb those paths would've been valid escape routes. Now, you just get trapped and killed.

Shadowhawks are still amazing and a constant staple in RHOD.

AC20 BJs are semi-viable, Griffins are dece with PPCs or boated SRMs, Ryokens are great.

Cents have their durability from beta but their only option is boating mdlas/SRMs.

All other meds are trash, just slap mdlas/SRMs on 'em and hide behind assaults I guess.

He forgot to mention that they also got +10% pitch and yaw, while the CN9 got +10 Left Arm Armor. Any more buffs and mediums will be straight OP.

Nope. Just I didn't see that you had put in your post that Ryokens are great - my apologies.

Let's be nice to people who might not know that all the Clan mechs have two names. I'd rather see a MWO where we welcome new people to the universe.

Mediums is about all I like to play (sometimes an Ember), but they do kinda suck compared to the rest of the field. I mostly like the 55 ton mechs, the BJ with AC/20 can be fun though. Good speed to bounce around the battlefield and enough armor to survive a few hits. Not going to turn the tide on a losing match, but fun to play neverthless. But I'm one who doesn't mind "losing" as long as I played well I'm quite happy. Also, the wait for the Heavy queue is pretty bad and I get impatient. :)

If we're talking about PUG-land, Mediums are just fine.

The BJ-1X with an STD 280, six medium lasers, and two smalls is rather excellent. It runs at 110 kph, it is smaller than a Jagermech, and it can seriously damage any target with a 30-point laser strike. The small lasers let stay somewhat dangerous while you cool off.

The Arrow also has a wide variety of damaging builds, the most common being some combination of large- and medium-class lasers with six machine guns. Fire from cover until armor is gone, then mop up. There are also some good AC builds, using standard engines. It works.

I've been seeing a lot of Trebuchets recently; that's been interesting since they are quite agile.

BT precident = more mediums per average drop composition. MWO precident = same for each class. MWO Mechs tried to be designed to BT precidents, but not adjusted for skewed drop composition. Mediums still have their size issues, yet survivability in a heavy drop composition than precident not improved.

Change drop ratios from A/H/M/L 3/3/3/3 to 2/3/4/3 and the game will fall into line more like BT precidents. Might help, but wont maintain piloting choice or sales of assault mechs I guess.

The medium class is really the 55 ton class.

They later balanced the game further by making it harder to climb hills with jumpjets.
