Conversely the Dire Wolf keeps mechs suppressed with its massive firepower. The Dire Wolf's best defense is its offense.

This is from experience piloting both mechs.

That Atlai tend to be brutal up close means that even a brief amount of time with one firing and the other not can equal a crippled Dire Wolf vs a damaged Atlas that's shredded whatever dared getting into SRM range- because it was able to get it's guns into firing position more often and more easily.

No it wont. An Atlas doesnt even come close to a Dire Wolf in 1v1 at ANY range. It has half the guns, inferior pinpoint damage, and worse heat efficiency. Not to mention the range disadvantage and the fact the Atlas is one of the worst knuckledraggers in the game with its low hardpoints.
The only Dire Wolves youre beating 1v1 in your Atlas are terrible Dire Wolves piloted by bads. Literally the only two advantages the Atlas has are that it goes 5 kph faster and has ECM. The Dire Wolf is better in every other way.

Except it can. You can put a lower arm actuator on the right arm and get left to right movement. As long as your large weapons are all in the left arm.
Besides the D-DC only has one energy in each arm so its far from having any kindve arm weapon advantage over the Dire Wolf. The Dire Wolf far surpasses the Atlas D-DC when it comes to arm weapons.

If an Atlas ever sneaks up on you from the sides or rear, you clearly either werent paying attention, or did something very wrong. That will rarely or never happen to a player that possesses adequate situational awareness and the slightest shred of common sense. Unfortunately there are a lot of bad players that have neither.
But yes in general when you sneak up on other mechs you will win. Even a Jagermech that gets the drop on a Direwolf will likely win. Part of playing a Direwolf well, or any slow mech for that matter, is anticipating what direction the enemy will be coming from and making sure they dont get the drop on you. And its really not that difficult to position yourself so that can never happen.

Atlases dont exactly qualify as mobile opponents though. A Dire Wolf has absolutely zero problems keeping an Atlas in its sights regardless of how big an engine the Atlas has.
The mech that probably counters the Dire Wolf the best right now is the Timber Wolf. Because it has the agility to stay out of the Dire Wolf's sights and the firepower to threaten it. Certain light mechs like the Ember can also do well against Dire Wolves although theres zero margin for error.

Even so it cant use them all very much without overheating
My fav build is my 2x guass 2x ERLL and 6xERML
i do most of my damage with my gauss and ERLL, in a prolonged firefight i can only use those ERML ONCE before i have to cool off for a few seconds then i can fire a second time, after that i cannot use the ERML until i am allowed to cooldown. During that time i can only use the 2LL and 2 Gauss, on very hot maps even the LL are limited and i have an even bigger delay between my 2 salvos.
So yea i can carry 10 weapons, but it doesnt give me massive dps, i can occasionally throw out a mean smash but if i miss god am i screwed. And even my Burst isnt that great due to the massive beam durations.
SO try this, go to smurfy, build the best builds for the atlas, look at the firepower and the DPS, then go build a direwolf and its best build/builds, and then look at the DPS
that gives you a pretty good measure of how powerful it is because thats a decent measure of how much damage it can dish out over a continuous time frame. THe differnces i got was for the atlas builds were getting about 5.3 the direwolf around 5.5-5.8 but thats with the increased beam duration so you have to make sure you dont miss.
I will say the Daka whale can get about 11dps, but it also only gets a 30pnt alpha which requires it to be exposed that much more and has limited ammo has a good amount of spread as well and has to worry about jamming.

was on Canyon Network. was only you and another mech left on your team.
you were in a corner firing an ERPPC at me from a fair distance, since I was on higher ground and had cover, and i was avoiding it and firing 2xUAC5 at you. tore you up pretty good so you decided to run off... as you ran off I plowed you some more, then a light came in and killsteal'd you.

Play Stock mech Monday/Wednesday matches. The Atlas is TERRIFYING to run into in Stock matches. Whole lances of smaller have to rally to bring one down, and usually suffer casualties.

couldn't care less to be honest, you're the one who made the childish remark earlier about how effective your build was if I ever came across you.. I did and your build didn't fare too well...
