But on challenges open to everyone I don't really have an issue. Well done PGI, nice move.
I see people griping about this challenge that its too hard, the last challenge for 5 wins was too easy... really?! Get over it, say thankyou and move on.

P.S thanks PGI for the free mechbay but for what I had to go through to get it you should give me all the prizes from all the past challenges I missed to compensate.

I can't believe anyone would actually complain about the opportunity to win something.

I did enjoy taking my Awesomes out for a walk, and my Sarah out for a sprint. Once I switched to my TDR though, it got stupid easy and fun. (MGs are OP ) Should have used my TDR-5S from the beginning.
20 kills might be a bit excessive for a new player, who really needs the extra mechbay. I personally prefer wins over kills, it promotes the team over the individual. Still, for us veterans, it ain't no thang.
Also, it was nice to see fewer Clan mechs on the field, and have a much better chance to brawl

Also, the list of Steiner designs....

yea.....
That's actually not a list of Steiner mechs per se, but Lyran Alliance mechs rather, which is a slightly different animal, and if you note at the top of that list, it mentions a time frame for it that falls well after our current timeline in MW:O.
I'm rather fond of our allies in the Lyran "Commonwealth"...but as a staunch Davion loyalist, the Lyran "Alliance" can eat a gauss round.

Because now people aren't using teamwork and everyone is being a "kill-stealing" or kill obsessed d-bag.
I wanted to show 4 of my friends MWO and we ended up getting one bs "team" right after another. So instead of having a good time during our very limited free-time (since we all work more than full time and have conflicting schedules) we ended up bashing our faces into the metaphysical brick wall. Now I have to convince them that it's not CoD with 'Mechs, but actually a good game. Instead of witnessing the awesome teamwork that can happen, they got to watch people arguing in team chat about who took who's kill. So now I am going to try introducing them to the game next weekend when this bs is over.
I never planned on grinding away at trying to get the 20 kills with the few 'Mechs I have on their list just for a bay, and that was never a problem for me... But I was planning on at least enjoying the game over the weekend. I usually like the PGI promotions, but I was hoping they would be focusing on wins or other aspects to encourage more teamwork, not individual success.
I'd love to see House Davion come out with a counter-proposal offering a free 'Mech bay and a light mech of some kind or something for anyone getting 50+ spot assists or something in a light 'Mech (you know a way to encourage people to learn to work together). I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that House Steiner is encouraging this type of childish CoD behavior ; )
P.S. Ironically while we were loading in there was a tool-tip about how individuals kills weren't as rewarding as helping the team or something along those lines XD

Totally, a spotting or assist challenge would be awesome. And basing it off of wins rather than kills would be pretty sweet too.
As for the other bit, yeah. PuG life can be rough, but it can also be totally awesome. I had an absolutely amazing PuG on Crimson Straight today that was pretty much the exact opposite of what you experienced with your friends. I hope you can convince them to give it another shot, because it's the moments in between the frustration that can make it all worthwhile.
And there's always "The Daily Whine" thread for therapy in the meantime.

Bit of a challenge to the casual gamer - I had to put a lot of time in. It was only because my son was away with his mum that I could put the time in.
Next time, lower the kills or make assists count as partial kills. 4 assists = 1 kill.
Yeah, it's really disappointing to WIN only to have 12 assists and 0 kills, which happened to me.
After that, get stomped for the next 3 games 0 to 12 with no kills.
So after 7 hours of drops, I'm still trying to get 20 kills.

I took a Shadowhawk out the garage, got 6 kills in 3 games that didn't register because it was the wrong SHD (ahum) continued in the correct one with 1LBX10, 2SRM6A and 1 ML and lots of ammo. Best moment: taking down a Raven/Direwolf combination on Canyon, dropping and staying behind the DWL while the Raven tried to protect him. Moment 2, three kills on Crimson with a fully cherry CT (stupid luck and hiding involved)
No wonder my clan mechs get shredded by brawling IS mechs from time to time; they do it very well.

What's the deal?
Edit: Nevermind. The mech bay just had a time delay of like... fifteen minutes or so to register.

The M only stands for Marik if the mech was produced after the breakup of the Star League, before that the Free Worlds League did not exist as an independent state. Although, I believe that the Cicada was produced after the fall of the Star League. Also, the Free Worlds League was the largest producer and supplier of Mechs and parts.
Actually, the FWL was formed in 2271, the Star League in 2571. (The Star League officially ended at the start of the First Succession War in 2786, though it had ceased functioning before that). The CDA-2A Cicada was first produced in 2740 by HartfordCo of Bryant, which was lost during the Second Succession War. Free Worlds Defense Industries' Gibson Federated BattleMechs division picked up production after the Fourth Succession War, and eventually created the -3M variant.

The GRF-3M Griffin was set for production for the FWL at two different factories: Earthwerks Incorporated's Keystone facility, and Brigadier Corporation's Oliver plant. The latter was captured by the Federated Commonwealth during the Fourth Succession War, and the Griffin -3M produced for both Houses.
Spheroid, on 08 August 2014 - 11:53 AM, said:
The Jenner was originally produced by Diplan 'Mechyards of Ozawa, and after the destruction of that facility (to keep it out of the hands of the Federated Suns), it was put into production by several Luthien Armor Works facilities; the primary one is on Luthen, but not the only one. Others include Abiy Adi, New Samarkand, and possibly Dieron.
Since the Jenner has been produced since 2784 as one of the Draconis Combine's primary light 'Mechs (the other being the Panther), and the JR7-D was the primary production model (until the -K came along), and Houses Steiner and Davion are House Kurita's primary enemies, it's likely both halves of the Federated Commonwealth have salvaged quite a few JR7-Ds over the years.
All of that being said, the lack of the Atlas on the list is odd, as others have noted. The Lyrans are one of only two realms that produce the 'Mech at the time of the Clan Invasion. The other is the Draconis Combine.

If you got the 20 kills using only the 'mechs on the list, you'll get a message saying "your items are being added" etc. The item in this case being a 'mech bay. It could take up to 15 minutes to appear.

Well said Tri.
In my clan mechs you can go solo confidently one on one with any IS mech. (They really are the puggers dream choice.)
But with this challenge, it was great to use my Thunderbolt, Griffin and Hunchback.
The first couple of games I was playing the same way as my clan mechs. I got smashed.
Then, I started to communicate more with my team, and applied some (gasp) strategy, tactics and teamwork.
And when we coordinated, it was immensely satisfying to put down a clan mech together.
Good challenge PGI.
Well done. (gasp)
Keep it up.
5 stars. *****

Something like: "Do 15000 Damage to enemy mechs in any number of battles to get this free stuff!" or something. Now THAT would be fun AND competitive.
Unless of course, your objective is to make events stressful...
