20 kills in my stalker in 15 matches with 48 hours to spare.

Too easy, don't know what all the fuss is about. Good event even though i didn't need the mech lab since i'm gonna sell all my IS when CW comes out.

You're fortunate then. First 3 games of mine with my stalker F 2 kills 27 assists, next 3 1 kill and much less assists...

Edit: could be the ppcs, i lost some accuracy % on them...

Really enjoyed the event :-)

Saw a lot of mechs you don't see that often anymore nowadays.

I grabbed one of my Stalkers, painted it in the Steiner colors and got my kills. I got lucky with my maps. I only had two games where I got ganked early.

How was the Atlas omitted from the Steiner mech list? The Atlas is probably the absolutely most "Steiner" of mechs? Please correct this and sack whatever Comstar acolyte made the grievous oversight!

As stated before... If you are running LRM boats you are probably going to have some difficulty getting kills. Direct fire mechs are your best bet. Also, you can probably troll people using LBXs and MGs. Swoop in when a mech is about cored and hammer away with crit seeking weapons.

The hardest part for me is deciding what mech is going to occupy the empty mech bay now. ;)

A little input from my end...

The event was a nice idea, but like other people here said, "Kills" was a poor choice of objective, as you had issues of friendly fire, and much less in the ways of teamwork as players were tripping over each other to get that last kill.

The other issue I noticed... well, perhaps not an issue entirely, but where we usually see a glut of heavies in the cue, this time, it was a glut of Assaults. I'm not sure which of the two reasons it might have been - because Assaults are better at one-shot kills, or because the heavies available to chose from in this event were not "Meta" enough for players to want to take. On the plus side, I was able to dust off my Thuds for the first time in ages - if only two of them, but on the negative side, My Quickdraws were made for close brawling and teamwork, not for getting the kill. As such, I could PLAY as one, but I couldn't expect kills. It took me damned near forever to complete the 20 kills, but I was always doing roughly as much damage as the next guy. I figure that somehow, my horrible ping somehow was sabotaging me, because while I would dump wads of munitions into a 'mech, it was always a team-mate that registered for the kill.

If damage were the counter, I think we'd still have a lot of the same issues with the cue where it's heavy-focused. I'd like to see something like X-assists and spots, so that players will realize that while kills are going to get you C-bills, you're at a greater advantage if you focus your energy helping the team. It might also put greater emphasis on the lights and mediums.

The CoD complaints are funnily apt: "...unlike most previous Archon-Designates, Melissa Steiner was not trained in the use of BattleMechs, but instead trained as an infantry commander."

But yeah, really, there were eventually matches where I just gave up and hunted an easy kill & respawn.

I guess I'll chime in too!

I got all the kills in a LOLcust 1E with 6SPL. So there was obviously absolutely no hang-back and snipe for this lolcust pilot. Plenty of killsteals though (for and against me...) The first 9 matches I was at 18 kills, then proceeded to get zero kills for another 10+ games...

I had some of my best locust games (a pair of 3kill games), and a LOT of fun. The community got into it, and I only had one problem with a guy who cussed me out as he was wearing down a peeping jager. I ran behind the jager, ripped off his (nonexistent) back armor locust-style and "stole" the kill to the happy tune of a stream of invective from my own teammate (he probably tried to shoot me but I gave him wide berth), but everyone else was laughing so all in all I'd say the event was a success!

Realatively new player, did it in a Centurion. Took me 80+ matches. I did decent damage most of the time but never got any kills. Sometimes It looked like street violence, a mech hanging on the ropes with four other mechs jostling and showing each other trying to get a kick in. I suspect part of why it was hard for me was setup and the mech itself. A medium simply doesn't have the firepower to finish someone off quickly except possibly lights and some other mediums.

I think there should have been an event on clan invasion day. Those guys with clan faction should have killed certain ammout on IS mechs, while IS faction guys should have killed a certain ammount of clan mechs. Though MWO is a short session game, the battletech universe has a very rich lore. And while we don't have CW, we need more lore events.

I seem to be getting my kills in bunches. Just seems to be bad luck I guess. I had a 4 and a 3 kill match with my SHD-2H(P). The other 7 matches I got no kills. I dusted off my AWS-9m and got a kill before going to bed last night. I also managed a kill in the champion centurion. Need to hammer out 11 more kills tonight. I hope I play a little more consistent tonight.

Turns out the 8R can still pound metal.
However it can't solo a Huggin and Dragon simultaneously, with lrms ... who knew?!

Good fun tournament with the usual mix of excellent tactics and ropey deployments. To say matches blew hot and cold would be a little unfair, I saw few wipes, but the occasional match vs lemmings was a fantastic salve for those matches when players (including me ;)) used chaos theory as a practical deployment plan.

Would be great if you could stay connected after the recent patches.

Horrible.
The less time there is, the harder the battles get.
I'm giving up. I'm totally frustrated. All the time wasted for nothing, neglecting my duties.
Though the battles were good. I'm off too bed after 11/20.

I have to agree with the connectivity issues.
Whether it was server load or other factors I played 17 and got dc'd 3 times mid-match. This also happened earlier in the week since the patch. I only noticed it because before this week I could count on 2 hands how often I've been dc'd since I started playing over a year ago.

As for the battles - every tournament gets increasingly frantic as the weekend progresses. Typically this means mass suicide, mad rushes and experienced players shooting fish in a barrel.
That said you can roll with this behaviour, I'd switch to more mobile builds to keep up with a rapidly changing battle-field for example. In fact the trial KTO-18 is pretty good for this - fast, mobile, decent range, indirect fire, chain-firing lrms for suppression - it lacks the big hit (though lrm25 1 shot is ok) but endless lrm5's into already softened targets can work wonders.

A few minor observations:
-Before the next "Swag for Kills" event, PGI should implement a penalty for team wounding (and if it isn't the case already, make any TKs while in the relevant mechs count against your Challenge score). I run rear-armor-heavy so I never died, but I went into structure from friendly fire more than usual.
-There were times when 60% of the players were in Assault mechs, and everyone seemed to be playing "hide from the brawl then clean up like a 'hero'". The one person I asked told me he had waited five minutes plus for a game so he could drop in his assault. The numbers get pretty close to this during American Prime Time most nights, too. The negatives from this are entirely self-inflicted and I have little pity for them, but I would like it to be practical to run around in my Catapults, TBolts and HGNs again. Any ideas?
-Multiple awards would be a nice twist - 10 kills or 3000 damage, whichever comes first or maybe both, maybe awarding different prizes. Possibly instead of damage, kills [both of which favor high-alpha builds] or wins [which can happen or not based on how competent your team is] you could create an Arbitrary Contest Score Counter and give lighter (and worse!) mechs a multiplier to encourage use.
-April 1 2015 needs an event where if you make it to 20TKs without being banned you get a free STK-4N and a unique paint job (brown legs, lemon-yellow body and arms).

How often does the counter refresh? I've been stuck at 80% for hours, has not counted my last 6-7 kills?
