A little input from my end...
The event was a nice idea, but like other people here said, "Kills" was a poor choice of objective, as you had issues of friendly fire, and much less in the ways of teamwork as players were tripping over each other to get that last kill.
The other issue I noticed... well, perhaps not an issue entirely, but where we usually see a glut of heavies in the cue, this time, it was a glut of Assaults. I'm not sure which of the two reasons it might have been - because Assaults are better at one-shot kills, or because the heavies available to chose from in this event were not "Meta" enough for players to want to take. On the plus side, I was able to dust off my Thuds for the first time in ages - if only two of them, but on the negative side, My Quickdraws were made for close brawling and teamwork, not for getting the kill. As such, I could PLAY as one, but I couldn't expect kills. It took me damned near forever to complete the 20 kills, but I was always doing roughly as much damage as the next guy. I figure that somehow, my horrible ping somehow was sabotaging me, because while I would dump wads of munitions into a 'mech, it was always a team-mate that registered for the kill.
If damage were the counter, I think we'd still have a lot of the same issues with the cue where it's heavy-focused. I'd like to see something like X-assists and spots, so that players will realize that while kills are going to get you C-bills, you're at a greater advantage if you focus your energy helping the team. It might also put greater emphasis on the lights and mediums.
