Recently purchased a 4G and got my ass kicked first match with it and I was only able to dish out 30 damage....

Any suggestions?

Still works. With all the super long range Clan weapons, it is a little bit harder to get in range though.

Thanks. Yeah I had trouble getting in range and out to dish damage. Got be pretty steady at aiming too. Is the Jagermech superior to hunchback? Dual AC/20's seem to be the most common medium mech weapon.

The Jagermech is superior when it comes to weight, its a 65 ton mech. A dual AC20 Jägermech is pretty strong, but due to the XL-Engine required, it's basically a glass cannon. It has a lot of punch, but dies very quickly. The 65 ton Jägermech is a heavy mech, not a medium. None of the medium Mechs can mount dual AC20.

@Bromineberry: The Cicada (3C, IIRC) can mount 2xAC/20.

The Blackjack can too... :D But both of them are not practically usable with dual AC20.

AC20,3 tons of ammo + 3 medium lasers still work.

That's the one you should go with. Hunchbacks are tricky to be consistently successful with. You really, really have to work for it. But that is part of its charm.

Hunchbacks are good but you also have to be aware and not get caught. I do well with mine on maps like River City, Frozen City, Forest Colony where I can duck and fade. Also, lots of people don't always think that you can play peek a boo with the AC/20 because it's really high up there. Maps like Forest Colony you can peek over hills and shoot and just slide back down.

I prefer changing one ML to an SL and dropping a little bit of aarmour for the forth ton of ammo. Three tons are just gone sooo quickly.

Pretty much the same as always.

I would not recommend the 71 kph (STD 200 Engine) loadout. On the one hand it's to slow to keep up with most heavies (!), on the other hand your torso twist is a lot slower than with a 250 STD Engine, which makes it much harder to protect the hunch. The 250 engine twist 25% (!) faster than the 200 engine. Because of the low speed, a small enginged hunchback is much easier to hit in general.

My advice: Stay away from everything below a 250 engine Hunchback...only a Gauss rifle is a justification to drop to a smaller engine.

Good choice. The great thing about the 250 STD is, that you can make a great build out of each and every Hunchback version with it. ;)

Your armor for your hunch should be 2 for rear, and the rest for the front, since the front armor hitbox actually extends all the way to the back. It's a massive hitbox, and the rear side torso hitbox is insanely tiny for the hunch.

Simple and stupid:

Never treat a Hunchback like it should be first in line. It's an escort, not a front-liner. I actually had surprisingly good luck with this build, simply because I would NEVER be first in line. Shadow an assault or heavy. Whatever it engages, you engage. The second something has a hole in it's armor, run in and blast it off with the triple MG mount. If the predictable happens and they go for the hump, you've still got a PPC on the left arm + the head laser to contribute with. Running hot from PPC fire? Laser + MGs, it should have weak points by the time you do. And you'll generally contribute to making weak spots combined with whatever the bigger 'Mech is doing.

Mediums teach you to depend on having someone else to work with, and that's a good habit to have. Rambos are dogmeat.

For a PPC Hunchback, I'd recommend the SP version, something like this.

I've found that 4 tons of ammo is way way way better :)

Theory: armor on left torso is sacrificed for more ammo, because you don't need the damn thing anyways

Don't do this. You should do 5. Reason for this is sweeping lasers and machine guns, and just in the event you get really unlucky... 3 armor in the front won't do much, but 3 more armor over 2 in the back is extremely helpful. Having it open to crits is bad bad bad. Here's the hitbox in case anyone is interested. As you can see, it's still very easy to hit.Posted Image

these are terrible. You do NOT need those heat sinks. If you got rid of them and smartly adjusted armor (you do NOT need full head armor, or full leg armor, since people always shoot your hunch) you could bump your engine up so you wouldnt need them, and then open up FF armor. Refer to my build here http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5c74d8a9e153c3f

Black Jack can, and so can the Cicada.

Play scared. Act like you are always one shot away from certain death. Bump up your frontal armor to take more hits. Grab radar deprivation and seismic module.
