So the hero Spider the ANANSI is finally here. This is what my 3k MC has been waiting moths for apart from an eventual Locust hero one day.

It is kinda odd but I think I am gonna love it

Who is gonna run Narc?

Or better yet large ballistics aka urbie style?

EDIT- Ok as Mondo44 said the stock armor is way too low. You dont get one shot but it is still fragile, could be a fantastic stock mode mech tho

am I missing something?

why do you have 1 ton of SRM ammo equipped, with no SRM launchers?

That is too much stripped armor. It will get 1-shot like a Lolcust.

I think I'm going to drop the SRM, even though that's the point of this one. Maybe an LRM5 to be annoying?

1. drive locusts already
2. that is stock armor

Also I already run my 5D and 5K spiders like 140-145kph so when this is speed tweaked it wont be any different.

I get where you are coming from, but this is losing a good chunk of survivability for no good reason. That 1.5 tons of MGs+ammo is not worth it.

Well I wanna at least try it with all the hardpoints filled first, when I get the money for a larger engine I will try other things. that last hero sale drained my Cbills tweaking things.

It seems like the dual AMS is the bigger part of the equation. At least for me. The missile hardpoint is neat, but you have to give up too much of something else to make it effective.

Well being a Spider pilot since day one I can tell already that I am going to love this mech.

Running my original build http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9252bdfcce58375 and even forgetting to put any modules on and I got 4 kills with 238 damage on my very FIRST match in this mech on Terra Therma (runs fairly cool too)

Yeah this thing feels really good. Took 21 matches to elite it, W/L 3.20, K/D of 2.90 average about 367 damage per match. Though I'm currently switching between a few load-outs to see whats comfortable. I started running the dual med pulse w/ an SRM 6. Right now twin mguns & Medium lasers, and an SRM 6.

Dropped Ams, upgraded lasers to medium pulse, xl270 with radar dep module and speed tweak makes you incredibly difficult to hit. Throw in an SRM4 and some Mgs and you have a decent harraser and finisher.

well my 2ams 2mg 2ml srm6 build is doing fine, just did 597 damage in it http://mwomercs.com/...screenshot-yet/

This is by far my fav spider, to hell with the ecm crutch.

Just got the Anansi definitely worth it! I am running xl255 srm6 2xmlas 2xmg. No ams. Those srms can hit hard if you are in nice and close. :). Lots of fun!

Alright, I have been working on some builds (and testing a couple) for the Anansi. Having all of the different hard points definitely opens up a lot of possibilities.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5999979e8c12150 - XL270 - 2xML - SRM6. This is my "Standard build" as soon as I get the 270 engine. I am currently running it with a 255 & mpl.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b4c95b5dd6dedb5 - XL255 - 2 ER Large Laser. I haven't tried this on the Anansi yet, but I run it effectively on my 5D. It lets you pack a punch without having to get right in the enemy's face. Also, can one shot a firestarter if you get it in the rear center torso :)

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2c25e5f518cd091 - XL270 - ERPPC - 2xMG. The obligatory ER PPC build. Punch a hole in their armor with the PPC then finish them with the machine guns. Haven't run this one yet but I have run the 5d and Firestarters with ER PPC's. They are hot but the pinpoint damage is nice.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...22183e4386dcb90 - XL255 - ERLLas - LRM 5, 3t ammo. This one is fun. I like to lock target hit them with the laser then fire LRM's while I am in cool down. It is also great at collecting kill assists. And, I like the psychological aspect of being able to keep the "incoming missile" message flashing on my targets HUD while I am hitting him with a large laser. Anything to be constantly annoying, that is what the spider does best.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2d70af97a5e59d4 - XL255 - AC2, 2t ammo- 2xMLas. It is a light with ballistic hard points so you have to make an AC2 build. Haven't run it yet so I don't have much to say about it.

It isn't quite as good as the Raven 2L since it doesn't have ECM, but you definitely have the speed to get in and deliver the NARC and get out again. I dropped this in two round but the first one nobody brought LRMs, so I will have to put a little more time into it before I can really give an accurate report.


So these are some of my ideas. I am sure I missed a couple things in there somewhere so I will ask for a little grace but I had fun putting these together. Hope you enjoy!

I got this for my alt account. I've been running the 2 ML, 2 MG, NARC build with an XL270. It's ok, but not as effective as my other Spiders. Kinda underwhelming, in fact. I think it's the fact that 2 MGs suck compared to the 4 carried by the 5K and Ember.

I might try a 2 MPL, 2 MG, SRM build. This thing definitely feels like it lacks punch.

An srm6 definitely adds punch but it seems to be best up really close. I am thinking about trying it with Artemis. On a side note I tried out the ac2 build I posted above. It definitely is not a shock and awe weapon but interestingly I did have larger mechs pause or back up when I started shooting. My guess is the screen shake, but that never happens when I am using just mlas.
