If Maps Cost 250K, Why Not Pay Mwll 100K For All Theirs. Or 250K.

dropped out. Although I do not doubt it is hard.

I don't want to know you. I don't want to know what you know. I knew a fair bunch of people who thought of taking CS, but they switched to a different major immediately after that course. So, personally... I'm not going to take your word for it, based on your comments about UI 2.0 and many other things that are actually taught in CS, like User Interface Design. This is the kind of stuff that would barely receive a passing grade in that course.

It is not easy, I also do knows what I am talking about. Not only am i familiar with programming my father also got his masters in computer science. So guess what I have been doing alot of since I was 8. Its just something I know and like to do in my spare time. I am a little washed at coding, but like I said before I do well with 3D modeling. Unfortunately I cant find the time do to much of anything anymore even MWO. Even now I am writing a paper as i type.

3D modeling has less to do with computer science, and more to do with the arts and graphics. Coding is a far different profession than just "visual arts".

Funny how a kid younger than that can understand it without the need fora school, instead practically self taught himself. It isnt hard to figure out and learn computer science, a child can do it

Sure, that's like saying "you can learn everything in a book", but also completely lack the understanding and context of which this stuff comes from. Like most professions, you need to have the right mentality (not in the "I can do it" kind of deal, but actually be able to process it in ones mind). There are music phenoms that "just know" how to compose music... like chefs that can get Michelin stars because they are just that good (like cooking and have a great palette). Same thing occurs for programming in Computer Science. They learn through experience, but that also apply what they've learned.

Just saying "I can do it" is simply a fallacy. Sure, people can cook a meal when taught... but can they design crazy new meals in their sleep? Not everyone is cut out for that... same goes for programming. Building "Hello World" is shamefully easy. It's making the damn app do something crazy useful and "everyone must have it" is a whole different ballgame.

All i am saying is you don't need anything fancy to learn how to program. you don't even need to program anything to understand the concepts.

Anybody can learn how to do it, and it is not hard to learn. When It comes to computer science which is mostly algorithm. That can vary.

I agree on everything people say. I would love to see more.

Has this Article been mentioned yet?

http://www.penny-arc...am-creates-worl

It's a interesting Article how they make maps. Fairly old but still online. I guess with 250.000 dollars they mean the whole thing. But still it's awfully lot from concept to textures and finally a map.

Edit: it have been posted already i see. No biggies. Still good.

Yes, that's why we still have the lingering "using JJs randomly cause getting the Lance Commander" bug.

That's also why PGI hasn't fixed the "Gauss Rifle Explosion is listed as Ammo Explosion" bug yet.

Not to mention, we still have warp fever going on for almost a month now.

So easy to "grasp concepts" amirite?

It's probably because you never read and/or listen to what smarter people are telling you. Congrats.

Nope. I'm saying that you are not as smart as you think you are.

There's a reason why smurfy's mechlab is heralded over PGI's version of the mechlab. smurfy's might not have all the information at one's fingertips... but it has all the relevant information that people need when they need to build their mechs, with minimal fuss.

Their is a fundamental difference between smurfy's and MWO's mechlab. Given your credentials I would have thought you would have known.

Yes, one is excellent, and the other is awful. I'll leave you to figuring out what is what.

I'd stop short of calling myself a professional in the industry - but I've made more than a few maps for different games (as mod content only).

Basically - the thing I was saying that was different was highlighting the difference between PGI and a 'real' company.

Paul and Russ were both CEOs of shovelware companies (well, JarHead was a spin-off of the other one).

Both of them subscribe to the socialist view of capitalist enterprise - being a business means you abuse and extort people for money.

They are basically here to sell artwork until we stop paying for it. They do not expect us to ever be happy - or expect to ever be able to make us happy by any effort of their own. They are there to build a retirement off of a business before it closes. In their eyes - there is no business-customer relation other than an antagonistic one.

They don't understand the idea of business as a way of life - of producing something that people will return to buy happily. In their eyes - all of that talk is merely a delusion peddled to the underhive to get them to be more complacent with exploitation.

They fully believe this game will eventually stop being profitable and when it becomes unprofitable, they will close the doors and (hopefully) retire. They do not care about company image - to them every company is evil. They do not care about customers - to them all customers are victims. When they close their doors, their distraught employees will be told to **** off and go some place else.

While Paul and Russ may not 'be evil' - they have accepted evil behavior as a means of 'getting ahead' or 'what they deserve.' Rather than review their ideas of what a company is and how it can prosper with a satisfied consumer base - they simply accept that 'to make an omelet, a few eggs must be broken.'

The more I observe Paul and Russ - the more I am pretty sure this is the case. The reason they don't try to create a more successful company is because they believe that companies are a sort of disposable means to an end.

Oh... so you like spending hours in the mechlab... paying for more premium time because you can't be pained to find the engine or module in some other mech... while the guy that's unpaid and gets donations is doing a superb job of assisting the community.

Well, that's a tragedy.

His preferred summoner has a single LBX20 and an ER PPC. We called him out in game, and he said that we're 'not on his level.'

Just so people in here know what kind of person they're dealing with.

I actually spend less than or close to a minute no later in the Mechlab even after I strip my mech.

5 kills and over 800 damaged achieved with that mech. I average about 500 damge a game with that build. unless I run my mech to the ground.

I also never said that.
