Is this still valid with the nerfs? (Poor poor clan lasers...)

Nope. It can be used, but I wouldn't consider it viable. Anyone else, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

for the weight...nothing comes close to clan er med's...

in comparison...2 lpl's produce more damage and less heat at higher range than 3 er med's...

but...u use 12 tons vs 3...u lose out on 4 double heat sinks with the lpl's.

2 er lrg produce similar damage and less heat at higher range than 3 er meds...

but...u use 8 tons vs 3...u lose out on 2 double heat sinks with the er lrg's.

it all comes down to mitigating alpha strikes. devs didnt like alpha striking for clans, period. thats why they jacked up med and small heat 20% and 50% respectively.

theres now no reason to go with 2 er sml lasers when 1 er med does slightly less damage, less heat, and twice the range.

u can run a ton of medium lasers, but u will run them on chainfire 24/7 now, or if u have macro's programmed, run them in paired chainfire.

if u want alpha strike, look at ballistics or missiles in combo with energy from now on.

My Timby brawler build is unique in that it has not 2, not 3, but FOUR machine guns:

Advantage of this build: It is more heat efficient than other Timby brawler builds so you can use your SRM`s and Machine guns much more than the 4 and 5 ML brawlers. I made this adjustment after the most recent clan energy heat nerfs and it has been paying off with consistent 1400+ and 6+ kill games in both solo and group queue:

Edit: this is the wrong screen shot... as you can see it`s from a week ago before the changes. I`ll try and dig up the more recent one when I`m not falling asleep

That's a pretty nasty build. My variation on that is: 4x ERML, 3x MG, 4x ASRM6 with 20DHS.

Heat looks like it should be an issue, but it's really not. You just need to judge the situation correctly. ERML for poking at range or taking out specific components. Completely ignore them in a brawl, they simply put out too much heat for the damage they do.

Edit: Lack of lower arm actuators hasn't been a hindrance. If it was I'd change to this.

I can ruin your game with non-op builds also but I derive so much more personal satisfaction from the op builds.

Since your game is ruined in either case and I'm happier with op builds game theory tells me that I should choose op to achieve Prado optimum.

I've only gone over 700 damage a few times, both in my 2 x LPL 4 x ERML build. Last night I got sick of my underpeforming 2 x ERLL 1 x Gauss and switched it to 2 x LPL 1 x UAC 10 and did 689 damage and had 5 kills for the first time.

My reasoning was that their ranges align pretty well and to use the cannon to keep them "rocked" and prevent return fire. I solo'd a Warhawk and came away almost unscathed as well as trashing a Nova and Dire Wolf (although I caught the Dire Wolf from behind) with almost no damage. The only downside is jamming...damn the UACs jam a lot. Every time I had a jam they were able to get some return fire on me.

When did you buy it? It's not available for MC, for another month.

The Timber Wolf has so many option it is actually easy to stumble on a good build just as much a bad build.

Some builds i have seen are lrm builds. They basically put lrms in all missile slots and er mediums in the energy and a tag. That way they just do what most other missile boats do and be able to do brawling with the mediums. I have also seen others where it is ERPPCs and Gauss builds but this has changed with the mechanic that PGI recently put in last month.

I also tried a build of SRMs, a UAC10 and medium lasers which worked well. I have also seen other UAC builds with SRMs and er mediums as back ups so many options. I suggest while you get use to the mech you stay with the main group and lean on your teammates as much as you can.

You have to buy it on the web site.

I've tried out the 6/7 C ER Medlas + Gauss combo, loved the gauss ever since. But i just loved brawling so much, i came up with my own build which was perfect for me, even better than these 'meta' builds.

TBR Build
3xMG (centre and side torsos)
2x4 SRM (left/right torsos)
2x6 SRM (left/right torsos)
1xAC20 (right arm)
3x cER Medlas (2x left arm, one in the torso)

Ammo load/positioning is up to you.

Important note is to always chain fire your SRMs and mind the heat, and ALWAYS torso twist to protect the AC20. The build has a devastating alpha strike, and with the AC20 + lasers stripping armour, 3xMG will finish the job. I always fire the AC20 first, followed by lasers and then chain fire the SRMs. This would cause the target severe screenshaking and by the time he gets out of this panic, (s)he would've lost some components.

The build is using a glitch with the smurfy site. Double check the weight. (78 tons on a 75 ton mech is not playable)

The build I have the most fun with in myTBR Prime
2LPL
3ERML(w/ range module)
2MG 2SRM6
I fire in those groups with the 3rd exclusively in close to manage heat. Also run CAP and a TC1 or 2 (can't remember right now).

Not meta by any means but avg 500dmg w/ the occasional 900-1000 dmg match on a lucky day.

I keep meaning to buy the other two variants to master but I keep spending C-Bills on modding IS mechs (damn free champion mechs it's a conspiracy to keep me poor and fighting!). Seriously I dumped 20 mil into the free centurion to find out I don't really like playing that mech. I think I can work with this new Victor though and luckily it's already upgraded.

Some Slight Utility

I Love Ballistics

No Point In Too Many Jump Jets

Unfortunately, I've not had the cash to get myself a TBR yet. I intend to do a pretty thorough evaluation of the builds when I do.

I usually suck at aiming so good results are tough for me.
My fav. Mad Cat build makes dealing damage it easy. :)
UAC20 and torso twist for the win! :)

Ending up buying a PRIME, stripped it completely and looking for a good build. Most of the replies from August were pre laser nerfs.
