I'm in Europe, so my ping will always be higher, but at steady 140-150 I used to be able to play this game with no issues. Same applies to all online games I play.
Yet, I find myself bouncing around like mad constantly in MWO nowdays, which makes the gameplay unbearable. Todays patch did absolutely nothing.

This is just a quick message to let everyone know that we are aware of the lag issues currently occurring on production. The cause of the issue roots back to how the engine handles high network traffic levels under load, and is resulting in specific players desyncing from the server due to extremely high induced latencies. This typically results in the affected player noticing other mechs in the game either rubber banding or walking in place, as well as abnormally long delays when zooming or changing vision modes. We have been tracking these issues since they were first reported to us, and have been working on resolving them ever since.
The first set of fixes are scheduled to come out with tomorrows patch (August 19th), which should help to improve the situation somewhat. Beyond that, we are looking at making more significant changes to the underlying networking subsystems that should directly improve these desync situations; especially under high loss or highly variable latency conditions.
Thanks for your patience! We hope to have these bugs resolved as fast as we can.

Ya, currently I can not play. I have tried and tried but all I get is a desync in every game and growing frustration.
It really is frustrating that I have payed hundreds of dollars in to this game and I can not play it. Any game that is out of beta and launched I should at least be able to play, especially since I have payed a lot towards the game.

Im an old school gamer, and i don't like the new trend of having to spend money on every little piece of digital content( it can add up to hundreds of dollars quick on alot of online games these days ). Also an ever growing number of online games have become Pay To Win. That being said i am a long time Battle Tech/Mechwarrior fan. So when i found this game i was worried that it would also be PTW. But i am happy to say that does'nt seem to be the case so far. I have spent real world money on this game to help support the Devs and keep it going. Granted not as much as others, but for me still more then what i would usually like to. I honestly do like this game alot(its the only online game i play anymore) and i almost bought a $250 clan package. But i hesitated after doing some research and finding out how long the game has been in development. i became worried i would lose all that money if PGI just folded. But since I have been playing it seems like PGI is at least trying to keep moving in the right direction. That said i really hope PGI can get things rolling, so hesitant old schoolers like myself would be more willing to spend our hard earned money on it.
I would just like some assurances that the game is growing and will be going well into my gaming future. I would like to know if PGI is struggling financially and there just trying to squeeze out every dime they can before it all goes to s*@t. If that is the case let us loyal fans know these things. Let us know how we can help keep our beloved franchise alive. Is there any sort of advertisment going on to bring in new players? Should we as a community be trying more diligently to bring others into the fold? With all of the different passionate/heated forums and discussions i've seen about this game. Its obvious this game is loved by many. Otherwise players would have just packed up and moved on to another game without all the "passionate/heated" discussions and forums.
All im trying to say is please keep us better informed on what is going on with the game in a timely manner. Plus, let the myriad of highly intelligent players who also happen to be programmers, coders, techies, etc... lend a hand. From what i've seen many of these peeps are more then willing to use there skills to help this game succeed( without pay i might add). That alone shows how dedicated this fan base is to this game. I don't have the skills to offer like these other players do. But i am willing to do my part to help this game survive and thrive. I am not willing however to dump loads of cash into the game just to see it falter. If we as a community had more assurances and transparency about the ongoing development of the game. Im sure more players would be willing to spend more of there hard earned money on it.
Anyways i love the game and i seriously stopped playing the other online games i was playing in favor of this one. I truly appreciate all the hard work PGI has put into this game. Just please don't give up on it. Let us know what we can do to help. Especially those with the skills and willingness to do so.
Thanks PGI for a great game that appears to be getting better all the time. I hope to spend more of my hard earned money on it in the near future.

Lots of people have offered to help ,especially in parts that are most important for keeping the game alive and one of them is maps, community could make maps,PGI could test them and approve or disapprove them and it would save them some time for other things (... producing new mechs and bugs ...) but on one side they dont listen any more either when it comes to help or pointing out to bugs and problems, and on the other side they werent even working on any new maps (or even old ones, redesigning them or fixing ...) so i guess they couldnt even save time that way ... And as far as financial state goes,i am confused by it,it looks that people are still buying stuff, they were selling 250 dollars clan packs even though lots have promised they wont ever buy anything until they get polished game and CW (and even after they bit%^$ed how the founders program and phoenix mechs were a bad deal and a rip off ...) they still dont do anything on promoting this game,i dont see any adds at all, anywhere,so maybe they are in bad situation,no money for adds !?
And you can hate me as much as you want and call me bad names and tie me to a chair and make me listen the marvelous sounds of donkeys cries while being slaughtered with a chainsaw (Or much more being known as Lady Gaga's music ... ) but this game is not getting better all the time,no way in hell,i am sorry but no !

You forgot to mention how this can last 30 seconds or more. Also, you forgot the result of now being quite some distance from your last known location, with significantly less pieces to your chassis and a number of newly aqcuired missiles. I've seen (on someone's computer, with my own eyes) a pilot desync in a skirmish with the score at 2-2, only to resync when the battle is 3-9.
This isn't Chess By Email. Real time games require... real time.

I would guess that most long term players are just tired of the farcical rhetoric and lack of real community engagement from Up On High.
Look how much rabid fans will pay for sub-par development.
Why should those that deign to let us play a commercialized mech game at the expense of torching good open source games aim any higher?
It's a real shame too, because there's magic in the fan-base.
25+ years of experience with the diehards...
...with deep knowledge of the game (which is highly technical)
...the story lines
...the long-term emotional investment
...and now the earning power, skills and desire to elevate this game to crazy-awesome-best-Battletech-game-ever status.
But that magic is really only being tapped as a short-term ATM, or at least that's how a good chunk of the fan-base sees it.
One or more of those piloting this MMO endeavor need to get their heads checked and come back to us when they're clued-in.
...until then it seems most of us are bumbling around here, playing what's available and waiting for either PGI's flash of realization or for the game to crash and burn.
Shame.
(formatting decided to start working again.)

Maybe PGI should consider selling the Mechwarrior franchise to the community/fans and let them take over.
How big is PGI's staff? Seems like alot of issues over such a long period of time for a internet gaming company. Im not a industry expert. Nor am I a computer expert. So maybe it is alot harder then i think to get something like this going. Or perhaps the PGI management is very difficult to work for. So they have a hard time keeping good talent around.
I grew up around alot of criminals and seen some crazy schemes. So again i wonder if this is just a long con, milking out as much as they can before they bail. Seriously, the promises made of were going to give you this but constantly postponing it and only releasing a little at a time. That is a common hustler tactic. Give just enough to keep them coming back. With the hope that maybe next time I'll get that sweet deal. By the time they give up, go broke, or pass away its too late. They got what they wanted from you. Your used up. Time for the next victim.
But hopefuly I am just being overly suspicous. But I do remember seeing something when I first started playing, where PGI seemed to totally flip on some of there most loyal/cash spending players. Stating something along the line that they only repersented a small minority of the gaming audience they were targeting and basically they didn't matter anymore( of course after they spent hundreds of dollars with only a promise of more to come) . So again I fear that this is quite the hustle. Especially with the $500 gold clan mechs. Very suspicous.... I really hope im wrong. Please PGI prove me wrong.
Edit: Now I have been disconected 2x in a row while in a match. When I tried to log back in and it said the server was down for maintneance. But I logged back in after trying again. Before the patch I was disconnected maybe once in every 10-15 matches. Now twice in a row with the server down for maintneance message. Then I experienced the same thing while I was in the mechlab working on my mech. Very disappointed. : ( Im rapidly falling to the dark side of this whole PGI can't get it together to save the game. I can only imagine how the players who have been holding out for years feel. I might have to go back to Dungeons & Dragons online. At least there when there is an issue they get right on it and actually fix it. Well GLHF all...

I am still playing this because of all of that good stuff and potential that i fell in love with when i got in closed beta but if after 2 years that is the only thing that keeps me here, that this hasnt developed at all (there are still some bugs on some maps that i remember since closed beta or they still havent fixed that warping spot on bloody Mordor map, where your mech walks in place when you want to get to centar of the map ...) ...yeah,i am scared too that MWO wont last that much longer,CW is the only thing that can save it ... and they havent released faction tab module yesterday like they promised, and i havent seen anything about it why they didnt ,which means even more loosing confindence into PGI ,even though i thought that i lost it after they didnt do anything in this game for a year because they didnt know will they even have license for Mechwarrior franchise ... I am sorry that maybe you will leave MWO ,i dont want it to lose players but i got nothing to tell you why you should stay ...either way good luck,if you leave i hope that CW will be a good reason for you and the rest to come back ...fat chance but still,Hope never dies ...i just cant seem to kill that bi*^&h once and for all ...

Again, bring back the 1-4man queue as we have had since I can remember.
You've got some serious problems to fix and fast. This is rapidly becoming intolerable.
