Stronger? that's very subjective, I don't agree

They also don't have FLD ACs like the IS do. (which is a huge advantage in my opinion)

I'll second this. Also the IS lasers are way easier to keep on target ( I use laser heavy builds a lot) and are cooler to boot. Is lrms are also more effective due to the cluster fire.
The only clan mech I face that registers as a threat is the Timberwolf.

Yes. That's because you're a terribad playing in the underhive.

And the next terribad trying to berate his betters...

Why is it that all the staunch defenders of clan tech are indeed bad players?

I think someone might be butthurt.

No, the Clan 'Mechs are stronger, faster, shoot further, and do it cooler. It's not just the new shiny, for PUG play it's here to stay. Now, Community Warfare, that has to be a different animal, hence all of the recent Clan vs. IS testing for 10 v 12. If it's not... (shrug)

Like 10 vs 12 and a win ratio of 9:1 ? :)

My own (6) 12 VS 10 matches were 50/50 split, with 2 Clan matches and 4 IS for me.

I didn't have the patience to do this tournament, but for the Med I got #12 for the SHDs. It should have been #10, but some fucktard who can't be named or shamed TKed me while we were hunting down the last player.

Though, these "tournaments" don't have much impact on skill. It's grinding out as many matches as you can, to get just the right amount of derps on your team so you can farm kills, but not so many that you get roflstomped.

I must have purchased defective Clan Mechs. Not once have I managed to stride accross the battlefield smitting IS Mechs with god like powers. Other than some range advantages, everything about Clan weapons falls short of they're IS counter parts. While I have not yet taken my Dire Wolf into battle...Even the fabled Stormcrow and Timberwolf have failed to deliver me a KDR that is anywhere near they're IS counter parts???

I will say that the cool blue HUD and Warhorns are OP though :-)

Negative, that is not true...

There are clan warriors...those of us who had to slog through playing IS mechs waiting 2+ years for Clans.

Truthfully, if Clans were not planned to be included, I would have never even played this game...

I can remember when all you saw was Highlanders, and nary anything else...

What is your point?

Bah. Screw clanmechs. IS rustbuckets forever! If your mech isn't held together with bailing wire and chewing gum then it's not a proper mech!

So far i can say that clan mech are stronger, maybe not like in the lore where they simply murder their IS counter parts but those saying they are toe to toe with IS well, come on guys.

I have clan mechs and man they are power houses. They have many weapons hardpoints, most of time too many for the heat's sake. They have range advantage, arguably firepower advantage, so far the only point i see Is weapons clearly better are the AC, 1 shell pinpoint vs multiple shells hit scan chances. Their Heat sinks are so much better than the IS, hell a stalker with 4 LL fired in chain will gather heat, I dont have this phenomena in a clan mech so i can chain clan LL all day long.

Clan mechs can load so many guns at once the ghost heat on them do make sense, however now i dont see why IS tech should be limited by ghost heat. They are inferior in tech and outgunned but a 4 PPc stalker or awesome against a 94 damage alpha whale still dont tip the scale but at least it gives a little more chances to the IS mech.

IS light mechs ( except the poor locust) seems to do better than the clan ones, i cant explain why because i m not really a light pilot but spectating games i saw a lot of light clan IS duels finish in the favor of the Sphere.

So yeah clan mechs are not whole mighty but they are indeed stronger, hell simply being able to put clan heatsinks on a IS mech will balance them. Why Clan overheat so much its because they can load too many weapons for their own good.

I figure I'll dispel these lies.

cDHS are better in only one sense: 2 slots instead of 3. That's it, otherwise identical.

The reason you don't notice the heat as much on the cERLL is because of their ridiculous burn time. Heat is generated over the length of the beam, and 9 heat over 2 seconds is less heat per second than 8.5 heat over 1 second.

This allows the heatsinks to dissipate more heat than the isERLLs in comparison, but still more heat overall.

but really, the Nova isn't the most dangerous clan mech, not by a long shot. Once people realize this, they'll likely master and then shelve them, whilst wringing their hands and chuckling in evil anticipation for the Crow, MadCat and Dire to be released.

I'll say this about the Nova, its easily the most underestimated threat in the clan arsenal right now. Though watching how most of the guys who try making brawler builds with them makes it easy to understand why.

Ahem! You're going to have to quote me on where I specifically defended the Clans. Because in all of these IS vs. Clan threads, I've been asking for convincing proof on whether or not the Clans are OP, proof that needs to be based on a good scientific analysis. Unfortunately, it's something I have not yet seen.

And so, you must mistake me for someone else (and for which I am sorely disappointed, being that you are my #1 fan from Germany).

But if you give me a good scientific analysis, all will be forgiven. You can use this basic framework if you so wish:
  • chassis analysis, including all variants and IS/Clan configurability
  • weapons analysis, including damage, rate of fire, duration, burst vs single-shot, weight, slots, ammo, impulse
  • equipment options analysis, especially those that affect speed, agility, and heat efficiency
  • time and spatial-based dynamic models of how the above interact in 1 vs. 1, 1 vs. N, lance vs. star, and team vs. team encounters

While many were obviously busy playing the "contest", I was busy preparing for my next vacation, first class accommodations of course, and my fourth for this year alone, generously paid for by a real "contest" that enables me to afford such small luxuries. :)

<Translation: Enjoy your #14 while I enjoy my fantastic drink on the beach. Ciao.>

This was before the Clans release...I don't even know which date it was. Med VS the World. 3 or so Tourneys ago.

At 20 tons difference, there was a only 300 point difference.
