Cockpit Background Music

Mechs were made to be customized, so why not some background music if they would allow.
1. Treat the soundtrack loop as a sub component that can be placed in the cockpit. As such the sub component would have no weight.
The general effect of this would be that you could hear some kind of background music playing in your Mech.
Now the basic idea is for 15 sound track loops to start with, say grouped in 3's in 5 separate patches. Two sound track loops per patch would require MC to acquire, while the third you could pick up for a one time purchase of say 250 C-BIlls. Once you have a sound track, you just slip it into the cockpit component and then when you play said Mech, music will play in a loop.
I was thinking of keeping most of the tunes instrumental. If so, what kind of music would you, as a player, like to hear?

I vote for ambient and some metal tracks

Maybe even with a playlist that could be modified, like Command & Conquer had in 1995?

I turned the music volume off in MWO, and I turn my iTunes on while I play. Insta background music in my cockpit, and no need to shuffle mp3 files around into MWO folders (or however it'd work).

Dude...that would be awesome! That song will forever remind me of Battlefield: Vietnam (and...um...the Vietnam War in general).

Well, I don't know about "a lot of work", but some modern games do take it up a notch, instead of just having a random song playing in the background for each match.
Many games have calm music or no music when there is no action, then switching the soundtrack depending on what's going on (taking fire, enemies killed, losing teammates, base being capped, etc). Not to say that the soundtrack changes every 10 seconds depending on what happens, but certain events will change the background music to reflect what's going on. And after a while, if the action dies down, it switches back to calm or no music again.
It's not science fiction. This is the year 2014, for God's sake.

Like X-Wing...that came out in 1993.

Winamp is still a thing?
Winamp was the best.
iTunes is such a pain in the ass to use. Half the time when you add new albums, they get all spread out as separate albums because of the way people input the ID3 info - and for some reason you have to create an AAC file to edit the info on most of the files. Such a pain.
If it weren't for my phone, I'd still be using Winamp.

If I want to listen to music, I just play music on my machine while playing.

It does bother the heck out of me that I can't get to listen to any of the really really awesome music tracks that they have for the mech trailers. Whoever is behind the music for MWO is talented, and the Illya Muromets theme is one of the best music tracks I've ever heard. I really like the double dragon and misery themes a lot as well. I do hope they will make music play during the game a thing. I hope they do it, and I've been kind of hoping they've just been using the mech trailers as a short version of music that will actually play in the game later on.
Getting music from outside of MWO doesn't count, because then I'll be reminded of wherever that music comes from, and it's just not the same. Even if it's another mechwarrior game, whether it's the rockin tunes from mech assault, or calm +strange mechwarrior 2 music.
