For those of you who have not done so yet this weekend is the perfect time to get Team Speak and set it up. You wil meet lots of nice people and some jerks probably but it is a nice change from pugging it alone all the time. There are lots of people that will be happy to do a 4 man group with you and help you get up and going on team speak.

Uggg. A microphone. I found a group, we grouped up in-game after playing a few solo games. We drop and have fun as usual without having to hear each other ***** and moan. It's great! I know, some of you are social bugs, but some of us aren't and we like it that way. ;)

But yeah, it's a good suggestion for folks to elevate from the norm.

Sure most every one I know that uses teamspeak also drops solo. But one of the main things is with teamspeak your group will be more effective. And most people want to be more effective and win more :)

thats what I am telling the players who are looking for people to do the challenge with. I told them to drop in on channels and just play with people. Even if they have no mic, they cans till find many players and just have a good time.

Exactly you can still type in channel and group chat. I have team mates that do it all the time to not have to talk and wake up people in their house. So even if you do not have a mic right now go ahead and download teamspeak and get going. This is a great weekend to do it :)

Except some of us can't TS for a variety of reasons. It's a ******** challenge to require groups when there are NO ingame tools to easily form them.

There are probably going to be solo and group challenges. Also different kinds with different parameters.

There are lots of group events. But many of us are glad to see events that help encourage team work.

Also I would bet very few people can not use TeamSpeak. I know of just one I can think of. And that is some one whos parents will not let him put it on the computer. Not saying there are not other reasons. But probably just a very very small percentage of people that cant use TeamSpeak.

With added steps....

Step 1: Here is the adress for downloading teamspeak 3 http://www.teamspeak...?page=downloads

Step 2: Once you fire it up you will tabs along the top of the program. Click on self and add your pilot name.

Step 3: (if you use a mic) Next click setting tab then go down to options to add a hotkey for the mic if you use one. You can set the mic to be in use all the time (not reccomended) or use a push to talk function. I happen to use left control so my mic is only hot when I want it to be. You do not have to have a headset or mic to use it either. You can listen in and chat via TS or in game.

Step 4: Click the bookmarks tab, then click manage books marks. In adress put in na1.mech-connect.net, for the label I put Comstar North America. You can also set your nickname here as well. Click apply, then ok.

Step 5: Now when you hover or click bookmarks tab you will see Comstar Server, just click it to connect. You will start in the entryway where no one can use voice chat. Scroll down and see the dropships, click and join one ;) If you want to drop with us in the comstar irregulars just scroll down to allied merc corps. You will see a lot of rooms such as my personal favorite dropship 3 Dont mess with taco cat!

I'm trying to think of a scenario where one couldn't get on TS, not use their mic and just listen in.

Maybe a suspicious wife? Playing at work and the headset would give it away?

Several reasons, the main one being using TS at the same time as MWO and my ping goes over 400. I don't have a lot of bandwidth.I've been on the NGNG server just so I can find a group for 10 minutes now. No one is even acknowledging my LFG requests at all.

Teamspeak:

Advantages:
None.

Disadvantages:
Hearing a bunch of dumbasses yelling and verbally high-fiving and the like.
Being distracted by idiots calling out targets and the like.
Becoming disgusted with your fellow players so much so that you vow to PUG forever.
If you're a girl, probably getting hit on by a bunch of slimy greasebags.
Idiots interrupting your jams/favorite game music.
Takes up hardrive space.
Consumes bandwidth.
Puts deaf and/or blind players at a disadvantage versus those who can hear and see.

Plus, there are better VOIP services. Please stop shoving Teamspeak down everyone's throats.

Sorry you Don't Like Teamspeak but you DID NOT suggest any other Options.
As for your personal Problems with Teamspeak

Hearing a bunch of dumbasses yelling and verbally high-fiving and the like.
--Check out the other Groups or Right Click and Mute the 5year ago

Being distracted by idiots calling out targets and the like.
--That Called being a Spoter or Leader it is part of "Team Work"

Becoming disgusted with your fellow players so much so that you vow to PUG forever.
--That just you being an Holier-than-thou butt hole

If you're a girl, probably getting hit on by a bunch of slimy greasebags.
--Find another Group, I know of many Ladies who Play this game.

Idiots interrupting your jams/favorite game music.
-- Sorry the Enemy Team is Shooting at you

Takes up hardrive space.
-- under 60mb or (62,244,014 bytes) (the MWO install is 5807MB or (5,807,264,514 bytes)

Consumes bandwidth.
-- Are you still on Dial-up? Even with a 128kps(SLOW by today basic Cable or DSL line) connect I can still play MWO and Talk on TS.

Puts deaf and/or blind players at a disadvantage versus those who can hear and see.
--It would Help the Blind Players and if there are Blind Player I will be the 1st to congratulate on a VERY Rare skill. As Deaf Person Welcome to the Game, Let me know and I will type out where we are Headed. (Sorry my sign language in real life is only a Basic level).

you shouldnt have to use 3rd party teamspeak just to interact with the community outside of individual matches

there should be a UI, to communicate in game on a wider level than in matches, if your planning on releasing content that requires people to exclusively interact with each other

Just look for a dropship with 1-3 people. Go to that dropship and in that drop ships channel type that you do not have a mic but you are checking if you can be part of their 4 man. Some will be waiting on other people and some will accept you. Some will be afk and not see you.

The reason we mention teamspeak is because it is where by far most of the MWO player base is. As for your experience teamspeak is what you make of it. You can play with jerks or with good people. You can play with people that are brief on coms or people that chat about movies etc. You are the one that decides what your TeamSpeak experience will be in the long run.

And they should have more game modes and more community warfare features :) At some point just get over it and get on TeamSpeak and start having fun with the wider community.

Whining kid's? Hmm.... youngest member of Zulu6 is 22 I believe. I would say the majority of the playersI have on my FL and play with on TS are in their late 20's to mid 30's and a fair few are military or ex-military. Xbox live this is not.

But if that has been your experience on TS I'm sorry for you. Perhaps you just haven't been lucky in finding a group of people who are of a similar personality as yourself. It doesn't mean EVERYONE on TS is the same as those you have ran across.

As for only being a distraction, I'm not sure I would call clear communication and teamwork a distraction but if that is your opinion, then I can respect that.

Personally I find grouping up with people on TS makes the game more fun to play, increases the chance of winning (which increases the fun factor again) and I run the risk of actually making some new friends.
