What I like about video games is that the rules are what they are - people can argue what they want but if it is easier and quicker shot the legs people will do so. And of course I will try it! It is as part of the game dynamics as is DFA!

I think they solved it with the damage by time of the lasers and not just instant impact. Will be very very difficult to shot and keep aiming the legs, as it is with the head. You may be able to do it, just it will be harder.

If I cant Win, I would force a Draw... worked well many times in World of Tanks... I even got my entire Team to help me make the enemy team Stranded on the other side of the map by blocking the Bridges so the enemy could not pass...

The enemy team were zerging and caught us off guard, I saw what was happening and I decided to Sacrifice my Tiger I on the Bridge so the enemy couldnt follow the rest of my team, then I managed to ask someone else to block the middle and far left Bridge just as the enemy team were turning around to cross those bridges, the bridges were blocked just in time and the enemy were Trapped, so no way for them to kill the entire team nor any way for the enmy team to capture the base

took 8 minutes but we Forced the Draw with 1 left vs 12 enemy Tanks and SPGs... our last guy just hid somewhere wher he couldnt get hit by the SPGs random fire...

Was great to see everyone working as a Team to Halt the enemy in their Tracks, Pun intended lol

So ya you need to add another option... Froce a Draw... cuz I will lol

I say play to win fairly. I.e. Without bots, hacking, lagging etc.

As for honor "...you still have hope this war will end with your honor intact. Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask them if honor matters. The silence is your answer."

Headshots, legging, back shots, targeting the cockpit, jump shoting, and anything viable within the established rules of the game is fair. If I can end a fight without losing any of my teammates or without any other loss I'll take that shot. Being nearly a total newb I'll probably have my rearend handed to me many times as I learn and you won't hear me complain once.

You DO know that in WoT a "Draw" = "Both teams have lost", right?

Yep, thats why if I cannot win I will not let the enemy Team win either...

my tactics caused a great deal of fuss on the WoT forums lol... and during that game there was so much smack talk rofl... I always play within the rules of the Game and never exploit... however they saw it differently, and called me anything from Dis-honourable, to Hax0r lol

I think to force a Draw is always an option, why just let the enemy Win when you can force them to fail?

The other point in this is, the enemy made the Mistake in the First place by zerging in one Direction, instead of spreading out, so they only had them selfs to blame in getting trapped

I voted both...why play if not to win ? Hacks & such just point out you are already a looser.

If fools are going to leave legs unarmored so they can carry more of something else, I am going to make them regret it. Playing for the team, not just for self.

Playing to win also doesn't necessarily mean "dirty".

I personally only like playing fair, where everyone has an equal chance to win. "Playing to win" sounds subjective, to me it would mean "Winning at all costs, even abusing exploits". "Exploits" in this case, performing some action that the developers did not intend (using known bugs to one's advantage among other things). I'm not sure what the OP intended, however I think we can agree that we all "want to win".

"Playing fair" can also have multiple meanings, once again from my perspective; If I have a faster mech with weapons that out range an enemy, I'll easily run backwards and "kite" my opponent by using my superior range. It may not seem "fair" (assuming from this example that the enemy has no way to damage me and is forced to change targets) - but the fact remains that each player has access to the same mechs, the same parts, and should plan for such contingencies.

Bottom line - All players have access to the same resources (mechs, weapons, etc.) - the tactics employed may seem "cheap" but they can still be fair.

I also find that close battles that end in a win where both teams played competitively seem to feel the most rewarding.

If you play, you play to win. That said, enjoying the game is the main reason for playing, so if playing dirty is your cup of tea, then by all means play dirty, if you enjoy a noble contest with open visor, toe to toe with your opponent, then joust away.
cheating through exploits is below contempt and should not be accepted.

I will play to enjoy the game, sometimes I will play nice, and sometimes I will play nasty. For Victory.

While I count any legitimate tactic valid, Cheaters deserve getting their account banned.

Even in the modern day, war has rules. For example, you are not supposed to use any thing over a 60 caliber on personnel. These are only supposed to be used against equipment such as jeeps, tanks, uniforms, canteens... etc...

If you want to play by some sort of rules or honour belief, that's your choice. Just don't complain when someone else who doesn't hold those values legs you or dismantles you bit by bit.

Personally I'll do whatever I can to win as quickly as possible with the least amount of damage to myself and my lance possible. If that means shooting you in the head or leg, so be it. Time is money in the Mercs life, after all.

I like both. I like having balanced teams at the start. It makes the game boil down to skill and a bit of luck. There is no way in hell that I'm going to slack my annihilating the opposing team members; even if we're winning 2 to 1.

Well actually you can play fair and play to win at the same time. If its in the battlefield then kill it. Dont use hacks or any third party program besides voice coms. But i mean really hacks that would give you a advantage.
