Is It The End For Mechwarrior: Online, Or Finally A Much Needed Fresh Start?

Seriously it's got 76 backers and $6530 in pledges after the first two days. This game ain't getting made.

1. You quit the game and are trolling the forums.
2. You're interested in the game and frustrated with the lack of past progress.
The first needs no reply as it is self evident. The second though, I agree with you and feel very much the same except that they DID deliver on what they set out to deliver in the last few months. True, it doesn't absolve them of their prior failings but it does create a mitigating factor when discussing the present state of the game and PGI.

I don't need to and I don't care either. I'm the customer not the developer.
I am a customer too Breeder. What if what I think is right is diffent than what you think is right?
Example: I think ghost heat is ok. Not a great solution, not the one I would have used, but it DOES do what is intended to do (limit boating specific weapons using soft penalties)
Now, 90% of the community seems to hate ghost heat. Does that make them right? Or am I right? Which customer does PGI listen to?
You really are showing a lack of understanding of how the business world works. Let me explain:
Companies make decisions which they think best works for the product they sell. Sometimes those ideas are terribel (New Coke) and are reverted. Sometimes the ideas are terrible and the business dies (Blackberry). sometimes the ideas are ok and a subset of people leave (yelp being able to sell reviews). And sometimes the ideas are great and people are happy.
But in none of those cases was the idea to drive people away. And in MOST of those cases you will find exceptions to what the majority thinks. PGI can NEVER please everyone:
12v10- I wanted it but I understood their concern
clan mech balancing- Again I and not a huge fan of the route they took, but I get it.
There have been hundreds of compromises in MWO. Some big, most, small. Some were hated by everyone, others by few. But almost every one of them made sense if you looked at the big picture.
That is why Im not mad. That is why I have never gotten mad. Well that plus the fact that it is a game....

Lysander, I like the cut of your jib. Insightful, accurate, no BS. No rose colored glasses, but no vitrol. I wish more folks would learn this kind of balanced, reasoned evaluation of things.
I was as frustrated as everyone else by the delays in CW. And I am glad PGI has gotten mostly on track with their milestones. That having been said they will have to have a much longer history for me to completely trust their ability to deliver.
On the other hand, Im happy with the state of the game currently so everything from here on out is gravy to me

I am however responding specifically to CW and it's delay. I haven't commented on other features that PGI have or haven't delivered on.

And I understand your frustration. However, the point is that they didn't deliver it on time but are ACTIVELY doing so now. Not going to let applaud them as if nothing happened but I will at least be happy to get what was promised.

Yup, stay classy. Reminds me why I generally ignore you. Yet oddly you follow my topics like a puppy.

I'm a like 18months past frustration with CW. I personally don't care about whether CW actually comes at this point. My expectations for it are greatly reduced and isn't going to be some magical moment when the game suddenly changes. Perhaps Attack defend game mode would be the thing I'm most interested in. Basically, it's still going to be the same core game post CW.

It's called cognitive bias.
Only seems like that because you are like every other post on this forum.

Yes and Russ explained they got Tax credits of some sort (I don't claim to know canadian tax code and benefits.. USA ones are confusing enough, tyvm). Sounds to me like they got tax incentives for expanding/employing more people.

I think it's a very bad business idea to upset the customers, don't you think? Actually I'm not that mad at all, but I can understand why some people are, considering how much money they dumped in MWO.

They'll continue their "I'm taking my ball and going home" approach and continually make themselves the victims when the player base lashes at them for not listening/lying to them and then wonder why it happens like an idiot who child who's stuck on concrete thinking over abstract.

I feel you and appreciate your stance.
All I ask is for folks like you, to show the same courtesy to those who don't, and to (not that you are) try to derail any thread that dare to not be a wellspring of negativity and venom with constant rantings.
Of course, that is beyond the abilities of some.

I just want to say a big thanks to Matthew Craig for trying to help us with these performance issues. I wish we could convey to the folks higher than him that optimization really needs to be made a priority.

I would love to send my system specs since it's so low end, but I highly doubt that would help. However, I will echo the gratitude to Matthew Craig for doing this. Seriously.
