Auto camera that zooms you in on the current fire fight and then randomly switch to various pilot views.
and if that's in what about placing bets on matches ?
They'd have to be player bets so someone would have to to accept your bet on a given match. You could even bet on yourself this way before a match if there was a cross talk lobby between teams.
"You guys are so gonna lose !"
"Hah put your money where you mouth is"
"1'000'000 Cbills"
"Hah don't make me laugh 10'000'000 or don't even bother"
"Fine 10, accept my bet and lets get this puppy started !"

isn't this illegal in some states?

Solaris. Imagine that once a month there is a tournament and in this tournament you can bet on the competitors once they pass a certain stage.
Let's say you can start betting on someone once they have three victories.
There is a tournament held on both the UK and US server and the victors of these go to the world championship finals.
You can win lostech or maybe even clan tech....the higher you go the more rare and precious the prize gets.

Edit: Love the solaris idea (didn't see it until after i posted) but yeah, solaris would sanction this perfectly and add a nice element to the game

But just betting? That could be done. Not sure if they will, but a neat idea.

Or if they implemented spectating the way that LoL did, and give it a 5 minute delay from the real action.

Don't even need 5 minutes, to be honest... 1 or 2 would suffice.
You'd need betting to close before the start of the match though... in case someone is able to monitor the stream from a player more directly (xfire, for example) and hence know the outcome a minute before the official stream catches up.

Also put in a Pete Rose betting clause. You as the player can only bet on yourself to win.

You could wager C-Bills on the odds. Odds where derrived from the team/unit ladder ranking and win loss ratios. Pretty cool imo.

Maybe with strict limits on number of bets and ammounts in a day... It would be a headache to balance it out as a developer i would think. Would also potentially need an automated system to figure odds adjustments based on player records if did things the solaris way i'd think

Two things:
1. What does "imo" mean? Please don't swear!
2. Imo betting should not be allowed because it corrupts the soul, the soles, Seoul and Paul.
besides it is boring compared to shooting lasers at other warriorcars like the AS8-KRD (that's the altas for you battlecheck newbs )

I like the idea of betting as an observer, as that would add something extra to do in MWO. It wouldn't necessarily need complex odds. If some form of betting as an observer existed and I was in game for more than a few hours, I would totally place bets during meals & such! Delays and/or anonymity would be important to prevent most rigging, and limits would be important to prevent it from impacting the MWO economy too much. For me personally, betting on my own games would put too much emphasis on in-game gambling, as I would already be "gambling" enough with the choices I make to repair, upgrade, buy mechs, etc.

Betting SHOULD be allowed in, if they can do the following and not make it imbalanced, unfair or such. (gold farming etc)
I take my model from CSS. (counter strike source)
1) Bets are placed after you are in spectator mode (dead).
2) You bet C-bills only (nothing insanely high, match winnings at most).
3) you get odds based on possible outcome. 3:1, 1:3 etc. Multiplies your MATCH WINNINGS or amount bet.
After the round you get your payout, or lose your money. Throwing the game for 33% gain on an already lower amount of pay due to losing isn't very profitable, a win would be worth double the losing money about?
Ex: 3 enemy mechs vs 1 for your team. 3:1 odds. X3 winnings if you bet on the 1 player., or 33% gain (1/3) betting on clear winners.
bet 10,000 Cbills 3:1, I win my pot of 40,000 Cbills. (only really 30,000 winnings)
Or 10,000 on 1:3, I win ~13,333 Cbills (only really 3,333 winnings)
Bets may help repair abit, get your ammo back etc. They won't be enough to get insane amounts of profit, as i said no more than the match is worth.

I don't mean to drop a hot, steaming pile of poop all over your nice, white party here, but nowhere in the above do you actually present a coherent argument as to why the developer of MethWarrior: Online should devote any kind of production resources to adding in "betting".
In fact, none of you have presented what even resembles a logical line of thought that explains this, besides "I WANT IT!". Maybe, if you were able to string together the most basic argument, an actual discussion on this topic could take place, but so far none of you have gotten within a Steiner-mile of that.
So, in conclusion, know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, and, as it pertains most particularly to this topic: Know when to run.

This is why I think betting should be a nameless pool
Players put in wages on both sides into a pot for witch side will win.
Once the match is over the losers cbills get split between the winners based on the size of each of the winners initial wagers.
So for example
player 1 1'000'000 on team A
player 2 100'000 on team A
player 3 10'000 on Team A
(Team A pool 1'110'000cbills)
player 4 2'000'000 on team B
player 5 100'000 on Team B
player 6 1'000 on Team B
(Team B pool 2'101'000cbills)
The acutal numbers are all hidden until the end of the match
Lets say Team B wins what happens
First Player 1,2 and 3 lose their money and walk away with 0 cbills
Second player 4,5,6 get a split pot
So
player 4 gets (2'000'000/2'101'000) x (1'110'000) = 1'056'639cbills
player 5 gets (100'000/2'101'000) x (1'110'000) = 52'831cbills
player 6 gets (1'000/2'101'000) x (1'110'000) = 528cbills
And the rounding gods take 2 cbills
This way you can't farm the game for money because the money has to come from other players and players don't like losing cbills
also gold sellers can't take advantage because the pools are hidden you don't know who's bet and for how much. (well they could try but if they got unlucky and a player threw down for a big chunk in the pool at the same time they'd lose a big chunk of the cbills to a stranger)
And if you kept the betting to solaris type event or even a match of the day then it could work
