Greetings MechWarriors,

Please leave us your thoughts, comments, concerns or questions regarding Russ' latest Command Chair Update:

Ok Russ and PGI this is fantastic news to hear. My instincts tell me IGP may have influenced some of the bad design choices in the past. I could be wrong but I have to say something. I IMPLORE you please develop Mechwarrior as a SIM style game in the vein of Mech 2. Early closed beta HAD those elements. That's why I invested in your game as a founder. I know Russ and company are hardcore Mech fans so I hope they can steer MWO back in this direction instead of the COD fast blitz gameplay that I feel MWO is evolving into. It's becoming faceless. Bring it back to its roots. That's my desire for MWO. I want to see it grow and evolve into the best mech game ever. It has the potential. Always had. For that I thank PGI for making it. I want to fully support this game to see this happen. I'm a huge fan and have been for a longtime. Off soap box now. Thanks for listening.

Carl

Great, does this mean no more bullcrap money grabs like hero mech after hero mech?
Maybe some new maps? BIG ones?
Maybe get to some actual content like gameplay styles instead of just conquest and skirmish?
Some actual objectives to complete instead of just kill the other guys?
And get the community warfare up. Ive seen SO many stop playing this game in the last year because stagnation is the only real new thing to appear.

They are a business and as a business still need to make money to keep the doors open. That means releasing stuff people will buy, like Hero mechs, so expecting _that_ to change is unrealistic and silly at best. The rest of your questions are good. All things which would be great additions to the game, but don't expect the rate of hero mechs to slow down. People buy them, so they're gonna keep selling them.

Congrats! I think this is a good deal as I've seen some head scratchers when it comes to pricing and marketing that didn't align with what I feel the game was meant to be. Now that it's all in-house, I feel that feedback can influence these decisions faster :) Everything is almost always faster when it's under one umbrella.

And we'd buy more shiny mechs if there was ACTUAL @#$%ING CONTENT in which to use them...

So what changes can we expect. I know you probably don't want to start promising too much, but is there anything that will be changed much now that you have full control?

This is great news both for MWO community and PGI.

This more than anything else should indicate PGI's commitment to MWO and the Battletech IP.

Indeed. This should put to rest any concern that MWO is dying off. :D

I'm glad they're finally rid of IGP. One things for sure, the next few months will decide the future of this game.

This news really should have excited me more than it did.

But it didn't.

YAY!!! Now fix the user interface please, so I can play the game again :)

The game died for me when they came out with UI 2.0. Hated the UI soo much quit after hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Yep, a whole lot of my friends quit around then too. If they could put together a decent mechlab Id start paying money again.

Lots of us don't have 2 and a half hours available to sit and listen to the entire podcast, especially when most of the posts I've seen have 1 or 2 very specific questions. Anyone know if they have or intend to post a script?

Understood. Just a suggestion, I listened to it while I was playing the game.

I do not believe this change will make much difference. The same people who designed the game to its current crappy state, are still the same people. Maybe things will happen faster(or slower), but the bad design decisions will continue. There has been no evidence of change in that regard since the games inception.

Just because the game is making money doesnt mean its a good game, it just means they got lucky when they dug into the pockets of long time BT fans starved for a mech game.

I quite enjoy the game, actually. Maybe you should go play something else for a while?

Hey, man, hate the game, not the player.

"It's just part of the game there's no problem
Never mind that the game is the problem
It's just part of the game there's no problem
Better watch what you say - there's no problem here..."

Last few days have actually been kind of... what's the word... hopeful? For the future? We have devs talking all over the place, town halls, twitter, forums, actually answering questions, actually laying out plans, quickly responding to common questions or concerns that are being brought up...

Be mad at what happened and make your comments or demands, but "hating the people in charge" helps nobody.
