I Am *never* Buying Another Hero Mech Until...

you guys start writing some backstory for the hero mechs you are bringing out.
You know why DotA and LoL characters have such loyal players? After character abilities, the next most important things are character PERSONALITY and BACKSTORY. Sorry PGI, some fancy textures on an otherwise normal looking mech does NOT cut it. I bought the Wang. I bought the Kintaro. Both are great fun, but where is my backstory? Yes, the Wang has canon story somewhere on some wiki page. If that's the case with a hero mech you will be selling, PUT IT SOMEWHERE. I want to read it!
How are you guys ever going make a single player game when you can't even put some cool backstory for $50 hero mechs??
So there you have it. I am never going to buy another hero mech until you guys start writing some backstory for them. And not only that, I am never buying another mech until you fill in backstory for ALL OF THE HERO MECHS UP UNTIL NOW. *stomps foot*

•GRF-1E2 Griffin Sparky 2.0 The personal ‘Mech of Leftenant Natasha Ergen of the 5th FedCom RCT, her stock Griffin had been refitted with Ferro-Fibrous armor and a Light Fusion Engine. Fourteen Double Heat sinks and a Targeting Computer allowed Ergen to obtain maximum effect from an all-energy weapons array consisting of an ER PPC, two standard Medium Lasers mounted one per side torso alongside three ER Medium Lasers, one mounted in each torso component. BV (2.0) = 1,862[21]
Have fun.

Point being, it's a lore hero, so a backstory already exists for it.

That's Sparky 2.0. We don't have Light Engines, IS ER lasers and Targeting computers. The original Sparky uses 3039 technology:
- GRF-1N Griffin Sparky The personal ‘Mech of Elle Bennett of the 5th Donegal Guards, prior to the War of 3039 she had replaced the LRM launcher of her Griffin with five medium lasers, one mounted in each torso, one beside the PPC and two in Sparky's left arm. The additional weight saved goes towards an extra heat sink and an additional ton of armor. [2] BV (2.0) = 1,449[20]

For battletech newcomers it would be very nice to have the information about this or that mech available.
Like the one from Sarna:

When the community has nothing more to complain about than back-story fluff for premium content... The community needs a good buff / nerf debate to refocus their attention.

Sure, but what prevents Niko from copy-pasting that backstorty from Sarna?
BTW, i totally agree with the OP. Even a few lines of background are appreciated, it is all about the small things, quiaff?

It was probably this sparky, which did not incorporate those upgrades. Sparky 2.0 has technology unavailable to the IS until 3062.

“Stay off the comms Voss! Bravo Lance, what is your situation?” replied her Commander, clearly annoyed at her clowning in live combat.
“We are fine, I’ve just pushed through their left flank!” she replied, grinning a grin reminiscent of her Mech, the ‘Jester’.
“How the hell are yo-“
“WOO! Highlander down, where’s your DFA now, you slow ba-“ she yelled in reply, having pushed not only past the left flank, but behind it. Her brightly coloured Catapult soaring over the enemy line: twin large, medium, and small lasers coring out the Highlander from behind.
“VOSS! STAY OFF THE COMS! Bravo are you close to Voss?” the Commander yelled back, clearly unable to deal with Leigh and her unorthodox (and borderline insubordinate) style.
“We’re right behind her Sir, not much left to take out, their left flank has disintegrated.”
“Speaking of disintegrated, check out that Shadowhawk – he went down with no arms OR legs!” she replied with a smarmy undertone.
The Commander didn’t bother replying, and to be honest, her seemingly-suicidal charge having broken the entire left flank of the enemy, and their centre and right flank were both retreating.
“This is Charlie lance, enemy Jenner and Raven down, they’re in full retreat.”
The Commander looked at the retreating enemy ahead of him, firing his weapons into the back of an Atlas, removing its right torso and arm in a dull ‘thud’ he heard even 400 metres away. He’d heard about this pilot – Leigh Voss and her bizarre brightly coloured Catapult; grinning cat face on the front – but never imagined she would be this difficult to command… or this difficult to deny her skill.
“Confirmed. Alpha lance also advancing, all lances forward.” He sighed, happy they were going to win this, but at the same time…
“Told you it’d be fine Sir! I’m already just outside their next line, attacking now!”
My own homage to Garth Erlam's story did not get as much positive response, but it's still very dear to me:
Quote
"Miss Voss, get back in line. And is that chewing gum I hear?"
"I'm having way too much fun, Mr. Commander! Weee, I just killed some infantry!"
"Miss Voss, you come back here this instant. And spit out your gum!"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Commander, but Joshua in Bravo lance asked if I could stay over at Epsilon and he's totally cute and everything!"
"Oh Miss Voss, go on then, you little rascal! Oh, to be young again..."

That's the one I meant to copy paste, guess I wasn't paying attention. It does beg the question though if the DHS version is out of timeline lore-wise or not.

I think all mech's should have a bit of fluff text when you click them in the store, mechlab or skill tree that basically gives you either a lore background or a few lines about what role that mech variant is typically used for etc. While you can get more creative with the Hero's, some basic guidance that states "this mech is commonly seen as an LRM boat" or "this mech is a favourite of crack snipers" etc would serve as cheap but useful guidance for people new to the game in particular.

But not everybody knew to look up that Mech on Sarna. Would it kill them to copy and paste that info?
