I am not interested in a single player campaign as much as I am interested in more game modes. Surely that is easier to produce. Waves of mechs would be nice with a weighting system. For example mediums and lights get 3 (possible) spawn where heavies and assaults get only 2 spawns but the overall team has a maximum of spawns allowed that is half of what the total spawns of the team would be. I would be curious to see how it would play out when the less skilled players use up the spawns mostly but dont leave thier team out to dry without a few extra chances. Players should be able to spawn in capped zones of a conquest style map where the team that caps all points is in most cases assured victory.

If you want SP, why?

Actually, i really would not mind at all, and would even encourage them to make "Campaign Packs", and sell them for like 10 dollars a pop.
Single player Campaigns of about 10 - 15 missions with a story. Replayable of course, perhaps with some co-op so you can do them with friends.
Just hire on a storywriter, build a proper AI with varying difficulties and sell Campaigns.

I reckon it'd be awesome >_>

Would be Superb if Mission replay was semi or fully Non Linear so each experience was a bit different. Base layouts , Enemy mech formations, time to battle, or patrolling location route changes. Non Linear feel Could be changed with randomness of opposition mechs, timing , Spawn locations.

A single player/campaign ability would probably filter OUT those who are very casual, play infrequently etc. Maybe attract a new breed of player as well.

How often.......really HOW often do you die, sit in some cockpit of a medium to upper level mech (expensive, either real money, or what had to be a LONG grind to kit out? i.e. DDC fully rigged, prime whatever) And they are miles from the battle, not locking targets, missing enemies in the view screen as they pan around, launch weapons at twice the intended range, creating a light show at the very start of battle, wailing away on disconnects and totally crippled mechs, etc etc etc etc.......
Let them have the ability to enjoy the game too, and NOT interfere with those who have...whats the word, leveled up?

Good idea for revenue. I wouldn't buy them but it appears plenty would.

Utilizing an intro campaign would be a great tutorial too. Obviously .. let people skip that if they dont need to do Tutorials.
But setting up a PvE campaign of short missions to teach people how to play would be a great starting point to doing monetized story campaigns.

I want moving and jumping dummies instead of stationary ones, to practice weapon lead times and focusing the beam on a single spot.

Just like Loadout.

I would love a single player!

but what this game needs badly right now. is maps. And not just a few, but dozens. So I really hope they do NOT allocate their resources to making single player missions, AI, tanks, etc.

maps.
pls.
lots of them.
before anything else.

Could even wrap the campaign up with a PvP reward.

Do not feel like grinding 13K for an AS7 K? Complete an AI raiding campaign on the Kurita manufacturer for it. (With capturing the AS7 being a difficult optional objective.)

Something like that could also be used for things like the RVN-3L, AWS-9M, etc...

I want it to get the casuals playing with joysticks out of the queue. I am sick of this game being balanced for people who can't handle the game and cannot aim.

You haven't played any challenging single player games have you? While it's a fact that games in general and single player games especially have been getting easier, there's still plenty of truly hardcore stuff around.

I'm gonna quote myself here:

View PostSatan n stuff, on 11 September 2014 - 06:46 AM, said:

If you want a challenge you can try the STALKER games , they are survival horror FPS with RPG elements, you get to walk around ( almost ) literal minefields while fighting enemies that are just as dangerous as you are but almost always outnumber you. You'll be quickloading more often than you are shooting, especially at first when you have crap equipment and zero experience with the games.

You can also try Devil may Cry 3, a classic action adventure game which on the highest difficulty setting doesn't even pretend not to hate you, it has very aggressive enemies that gain a powerful defense after a short while on said highest difficulty, making it much harder to keep them from attacking, they will be fighting you a dozen or so at a time pretty much guaranteeing that if you get hit once you die.

For the truly determined, there's I Wanna Be the Guy, a 2D platformer that's explicitly designed to be hellishly difficult. Words really don't do it justice but hundreds of deaths just to get past a single screen aren't uncommon. I'd have a 5 digit death count by now if it didn't crash as often as it does.

These are just a few examples, I can list a dozen more in any genre and that would still only be a small fraction. Even if a game is easy on normal difficulty, single player games almost always allow you to make the game harder in some way, and quite a few get downright brutal when you do.

1) Every mechwarrior title prior has had a single player campaign.
2) I don't always want to play against super 1337 competitive players, sometimes I just want to play and get some kills and relax.
3) Why not? Especially when Singleplayer isn't slated as a consideration until AFTER CW is released.

fun, because some things in PvP can not reach this amount of fun by the rules PvP runs, such as always 12vs12. balance and stuff. But it always depends on the implemented PvE features. I would buy a simple MW remake that is just upgarded witht he current emchs and engine. Just for the enjoyment of the campain. And the progression wave solo play feature.

also, PvE is sololy depending on yourself. today 5 drops 2x dc, not fun, and friutsrating. And when your teammates make stupid stuff too all the time also frustrating. then I sometimes wanna play vs some AI where I kinda know nothing extraordinary stupid will happen.

also, if the mechanics are identically to the MWO, the singleplayer would be a nice way for newbies to lern the game without being stompy trash for veterans.

A new player can learn the basics of movement and combat from a single player campaign, there is the capability to make a gradual learning curve by having campaign missions that start easy, (a recon mission where you may only meet one light mech, and several vehicles) to the difficult. (repelling a full invasion from one of the more aggressive Crusader Clans.) by the time they're done with said campaign, they have the basic skills mastered, and aren't just free kills in multiplayer.

Because it will incentivise new players learning how to pilot their mechs in a controlled environment, thus when they enter the various queues they will feel more like an asset than a liability.
