A single player mode would go a LONG way towards being a tutorial for new players, if nothing else. That, all by itself, makes it worthwhile.

I know I did a lot of Co-op in LoL before I dared to try PvP, and while not everything played out the same, the PvP wasn't really *harder* (LoL's huge player base lets them do elo-matching efficiently and their hard bots cheat a lot) and most of the skills did carry over.

Mostly, though, I'd want it because I have friends that sort of like battletech and might be convinced to try a co-op version, but would be miserable if I tried to group up with them and get slaughtered by actually competent groups.

they have to do other things first, but once current things are off their plate i wouldnt mind seeing single player things.

Id more prefer some CO-op style things though, like 4 man (lance) objective missions, or survival modes, defense modes etc etc

basicly you and 3 friends vs either a difficult to complete objective or you and 3 friends vs endless wave of enemies
