So, for the Dialog about ECM, we should elect a "council" of spokesmen, i would suggest we use this thread to get some nominees up.

After, the guys and gals we decide on, should organise a different thread, to discuss the Topic of ECM in itself.

This is, just to be seen as suggestion thought

i would think, 5 people would be a good start for a "council team"

My personal choice for nominating people would be:

- IraqiWalker, reason, i see him posting a lot, he has solid ideas and a broad knowledge about the game

-Konivig, for about the same reason

and as a third nominee, i would suggest Egomane, as he is in touch with the Devs anyway in one way or another, as he is a mod.

I would say, we do our nominations over the weekend, and on Monday, we simply count who got the most voices.

Better ideas? Lets her them

*Suggestions*

It had been mentioned, that having the votes from non english speaking players, would be important.

Absolutely true, but(!) Creating half a dozen topics to nominate people in, is not helpfull, people will nominate in multiple topics, and things get ugly.

If for each subsection we have ONE thread could be created, linking to this topic, explaining what it is about, the non english speaking members, could come here, and cast their votes.

Makes it easier for all of us to work with the Information we gather.

I did set up a topic in the German subforums, directing the people here, so we would need one each for the other languages!

Ideally this council would have people from various backgrounds on it. 2 comp, 2 casual, 1... random I guess.

What this can't turn into is a popularity contest if actual, substantial changes have any hope of being implemented.

and you are right, it should not be a popularity contest!

*edit* but one thin please, lets keep discussion here as minimal as possible, because, if we (the players) decide to do a count of nominations everybody got on Monday, it will be easier to sort trought it, if discussion is keept minimal, and simple nomination postings are the majority.

Myself (information warfare=lights so... that should be obvious)
Roland (smart, levelheaded guy with good posts)
Homeless Bill (various posts with good ideas)
Magician (he was a member of the last one)

Various people can be subbed in as well.

If there's a council elected if there aint Roland in it and... I can't believe I'm saying it... Bishop Steiner(you know my attitude toward Steiners - nothing personal ) in it I, and I believe many others too - won't take it serious.
Those two people were the sound of reason since I remember those forums.
I have some different opinions than theirs most of the time - I often got annoyed cause of what they've said, but all and all those two should be in, cause they got the right point of view from general prespective.

5 people isnt enough to get a good cross section of the community. I'd say 9 people is a better number.

How were are going to choose those 9 people is going to be the real challenge however.

If we could actually pull it off, a thread where people discuss who they support, and why. In a civilized manner, mind you, and with good reasoning. Then, a second thread with ONLY posts of nominations, one nomination per post, each nomination requiring a second. If your nominee has been already nominated, just like their nomination post. Once that's run its course for a bit we tally up the top however many nominees and put out a real ballot to vote for the top 5 or 9 or however many is a reasonable number.
